Any update/news on recruits at the game yesterday? Exciting game and what appeared to be close to full house and lots of noise.

TV coverage sure picked ome FUGLY MoFos esterday instead of the usual bouncy-bouncies.

And there were more bouncy-bouncies than a Victoria's Secret fashion show.

(The old kind, not the current version with FUGLY MoFos)

Who would they accept as the new HC? And who would want it that makes sense?

It feels like a Big 12 coaching exodus is coming. Leipold and Klieman are both in their mid to late 50s and need to go get their bag. Florida would be a great opportunity for both of them.

don't think they are a big enough name for UF. they sell the same thing as Napier did, building the program.

TJ Lindsey interview with 247

tldr we're sending graphics to him again, and he was gonna visit for Tech but since odds are good we make the B12 title game he'd rather go to that

Spoiler

Texas hasn’t thrown in the towel with four-star Auburn defensive line commit TJ Lindsey. Horns247 reported a few weeks ago that the Longhorns staff started reaching back out to the IMG Academy standout.

“I’ve been talking to Coach Bo (Davis) and Coach Sark pretty consistent week in and week out,” Lindsey told Horns247. “They started sending me graphics again and stuff like that.”

Lindsey officially visited Austin back in the summer prior to committing to the Tigers. So he’s familiar with the staff, program, and what they’re pitching.

“Really just a lot of the same stuff they were saying before,” Lindsey said of UT’s message. “Just that they’re still interested and they really want me to come out there. They’re going to keep fighting until the end. Things like that.”

247Sports Team Rankings for Class of 2024

Davis is coaching Texas’ best defensive line in recent memory, with both T'Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy II ranking one and three, respectively, in the nation, per PFF.

“His resumé speaks for itself,” Lindsey said of Davis. “Legendary D-line coach. I mean, his production, he gets people way better. He’s also just a really good person, a really good guy. You know, a coach that I like that will keep it real with you, but coach you at the same time.”

Miami and a little bit of Missouri are two other programs trying to flip Lindsey from Auburn. What about Texas has the Longhorns still in the mix?

“We see it this year,” Lindsey said. “I think they’re really good. All the coaching, all the stuff they’re teaching. They’ve been really good. The D-line especially has been really good.”

Lindsey wants to see Texas for a game this season.

“I was going to try (for Texas Tech) but I think they’re going to make it to the Big 12 Championship so that’s the one I’m really going to aim for,” he said.

At 6-foot-3, 265 pounds, Lindsey is ranked the No. 35 defensive lineman and the No. 296 overall player in the country, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Didn’t Filsaime visit USC this weekend?

I certainly hope so.

How many positions are USC hoping that he can play at once?

Unless you can clone yourself and get paid (NIL) for each clone, I don’t see how USC can be a desirable destination for a good defender outside of the LA area.

Stampede

Spoiler

As Texas continues to win on the football field, recruiting should continue to see an uptick as we draw closer to Early Signing Day. UT is currently No. 13 in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings with 19 commitments. The Longhorns are under serious consideration from a number of the nation's elite uncommitted recruits, as well as many that have already made college choices that are keeping the door open for other schools. In The Stampede this morning, we'll check in on the buzz across multiple recruiting classes, ranging from 2024-26, with the latest intel as it pertains to the Longhorns' efforts.

Take a look!

TEXAS RUNNING BACK COMMIT JERRICK GIBSON SOLID WITH LONGHORNS

Jerrick Gibson. (Photo: Hank South, 247Sports)

Last week there were reports that Texas running back commit Jerrick Gibson was perhaps considering Florida more seriously than we thought as we round the stretch to Early Signing Day. The IMG Academy standout has visited Gainesville this fall, was reportedly considering an official visit to UF, and of course was at one point committed to the Gators earlier in his recruitment. As Horns247 has reported in the past, Gibson has been very transparent with the Texas staff about his visits elsewhere, if he takes them. We caught up with Gibson’s father on Sunday night who reiterated that his son is “100 percent” solid with the Longhorns. Gibson plans to be back in Austin for the Texas Tech game later this month. We’ll continue monitoring the push from Florida, but it doesn’t appear to be a red-flag situation.

COMMIT WATCH FOR 2025?
Looking for a “who could be next” prospect in the class of 2025? Look no further than Peach State tight end Emaree Winston. The Calhoun (Ga.) standout made the trek to Austin this weekend to check out the Kansas State game, just a few weeks removed from traveling to Dallas for the Red River Shootout. The visit couldn’t have gone better with both Winston and his family extremely impressed with the presentation put forth by the UT staff. Look for a top three from Winston coming later this month, and a commitment shortly after. If I’m a betting man, I like where Texas stands for the four-star prospect. Winston is already looking at when he can get back to Austin next. Ohio State and Tennessee are two others in play. The Buckeyes actually lead the 247Sports Crystal Ball. Horns247 will be placing Texas predictions for Winston later today.

THE PUSH CONTINUES FOR AUBURN DL COMMIT TJ LINDSEY

TJ Lindsey. (Photo: Jordan Scruggs, 247Sports)

Texas has a pair of All-American level talents on the defensive line in T'Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy II, which could ultimately make recruiting the position more of a pick-and-choose situation, if not at the high school level then certainly in the Transfer Portal if UT goes that route. One recruit taking notice of the production in the trenches is Auburn commit TJ Lindsey. The four-star IMG Academy by way of Arkansas standout chose the Tigers over Texas back in August, at which point communication with Texas stalled out.

As Horns247 reported last month, that contact picked back up and has been consistent in recent weeks. Lindsey is looking at attending the Big 12 Championship Game in Arlington if the Longhorns make it there. He’s already officially visited Texas in the summer. Lindsey says it’s “Auburn’s race to lose” in the final weeks. He’s expected on the Plains in December as well. Talking to sources with knowledge of the recruitment, Texas is best positioned to pluck Lindsey off the Tigers’ commitment list if he has a change of heart. Miami and Missouri are trying to change that pecking order.

ANOTHER AUBURN COMMIT ON FLIP WATCH
DeAndre Carter

Speaking of Auburn commits, four-star interior offensive lineman DeAndre Carter is Texas’ top remaining uncommitted offensive line target. We’ve reported that things appear to be trending more towards the Longhorns in the weeks since the Mater Dei product officially visited Austin for the Kansas game. However Carter has remained committed to War Eagle. So, where do things stand? Horns247 checked in with an SEC source close to the recruitment who relayed that there’s not a consensus belief of what Carter is going to do at this point, but Auburn is fighting tooth and nail to try and keep him on their commitment list. Texas is likely only taking four offensive linemen, at least from the prep level, as things stand now. So it appears at the very least Carter is more torn than anything, which he made evident in a recent interview with 247Sports’ Greg Biggins: “I’m still trying to figure this all out,” Carter said. “It’s really hard because they’re both great schools and there are specific things I like about each program.”

TEXAS WORKING TO GOUGE THE GATORS COMMIT LIST
Texas remains steadily after Florida cornerback commit Wardell Mack. The Longhorns were in to see Mack during their bye-week last month, and the lines of communication remain open. The New Orleans area standout has yet to return to Austin since his official visit in the summer. His camp has said they plan to attend at least one home game in Austin. Their last chance will be for the Texas Tech at the end of the month, which could be a challenge depending on John Ehret’s playoff schedule. Regardless of visit, there’s still confidence, according to sources, that Texas is in a good spot to ultimately flip the four-star defender. The Gators are limping to the finish, and with Texas still alive in the College Football Playoff conversation, the optics appear better in Austin. That’s obviously not the only factor for Mack in the decision-making process, but with Texas trending up it certainly doesn’t hurt. We’ll continue to watch this one over the next few weeks.

ANOTHER GATOR OF NOTE

Xavier Filsaime. (Photo: Jordan Scruggs, 247Sports)

It’s a very heavy Auburn/Florida commit Stampede this morning. Texas formally threw its hat in the ring for five-star Florida safety commit Xavier Filsaime last month prior to hosting him for the Red River Shootout. The Longhorns were working on trying to get a the McKinney standout on campus this past weekend after the staff was in attendance for his game on Thursday night. Filsaime instead trekked out to Los Angeles to visit USC. Speaking to sources, there doesn’t seem to be a high level of concern about Filsaime flipping from the Gators at this point in time. If they go winless down the stretch maybe it’s a different story. As one source put it though, Filsaime seems to be more interested in enjoying recruiting then actually wavering from UF.

FIVE-STAR TEXAS LEGACY TO FOLLOW IN FATHER'S FOOTSTEPS?

Jalen Lott. (Photo: Jordan Scruggs, 247Sports)

Texas offered 2026 five-star athlete Jalen Lott this weekend on an unofficial visit to Austin. Name sound familiar? The Lovejoy sophomore is the son of former Texas great James Lott. Ranked as an athlete, Lott can excel on either side of the ball at a high level, and he doesn’t have a preference. He wants to do whatever he can to help the team. A roster full of those types of mindsets and you’re in good shape. With nearly two dozen offers already, it’s Texas has the early edge for the five-star standout. He says considering the family ties and his connection to the program, the Longhorns are in the top spot. We’ll have more from Lott later.

FORMER WESTLAKE CHAPS STARRING FOR LONGHORNS DOWN BIG 12 STRETCH. ANOTHER ONE IN THE MIX?
The Longhorns have the quarterback position shored up in both the 2024 (Trey Owens) and 2025 (KJ Lacey) classes, so does that turn attention to 2026? Perhaps. There’s only one offer out under center at the moment to USC pledge Julian Lewis. One name to potentially keep an eye on is local standout Rees Wise, who says he’s been told he’s on the Longhorns’ radar. The Westlake standout has had a breakout season for the Chaps heading into a playoff game against Round Rock this weekend. Wise has started six games and only played the first half in four of them. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder is a dual-threat playmaker that’s passed for 1,2470 yards and 15 touchdowns to 4 interceptions. He’s rushed for 283 yards and another 7 scores. Horns247 saw him in his first live action against Converse Judson earlier this season where he led Westlake to a blowout victory. Chaparral players have been pretty good for the Longhorns (and I don’t just say that as a WHS alumni). Ethan Burke is making game-changing plays and Michael Taaffe is amidst a two-game interception streak at the moment. Obviously you have Sam Ehlinger as well, among several others that have come through the program. We’ll keep an eye on Wise this offseason. Other schools in contact with him include Baylor, Texas Tech, and UTSA.

TEXAS HAS ITS CHOICE AT RUNNING BACK

Tradarian Ball. (Photo: Brian Perroni, 247Sports)

Along the lines of 2026 recruits, Texas extended an offer to Texas High back Tradarian Ball this weekend. The Longhorns are still in the evaluation process considering Ball is only a sophomore, but UT is already trending for the in-state back. 247Sports’ Steve Wilftong submitted a 247Sports Crystal Ball projection in favor of Texas. Running backs coach Tashard Choice typically gets who he wants at the position, and with a run of Bijan Robinson, Roschon Johnson, and now Jonathon Brooks (as well as CJ Baxter filling into form), that streak should continue into the future.

What’s Filsaime’s story? Senior move in or late bloomer?

It’s odd that Texas waited until October of his senior year to offer.

Grew up in Florida, parents got divorced, moved to Texas with dad. Texas wants him to visit but with his dad. Should happen.
