Well, apparently, GHWB planned everything down to each song so maybe he wanted them to play it.

Or they’re just being aggy. /shoulder shrug/

I about drove off the road in rage when I heard those idiot cultists start hollering once the Aggie War Hymn theme song start to play.  The entire nation is watching the military entourage solemnly unload the casket from the train and those classless ignoramuses start screaming like banshees.

First reply is GOLD.

"Why compete for a real national championship when you can win a fake one?"

Let's not discuss the 2010 conference championship on the side of Kroger field.

I'm partial to the 3rd comment

"This has the feel of Jimbo clearing space for bigger fish"

So we’re on vacation at the beach and my wife gets us tickets to see Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen.  I knew nothing about these guys other than one had the most WTF marriage in world history.   They get on stage and start talking about how they met at Texas A&M and goddam if there were not 500 people that started whooping like it was bonfire.  Oh god here we go.  Mrs CW and I were like oh FFS.  Then I shit you not Lyle Lovett started talking about being a goat farmer and his family knowing a lot about sheep.  He was being serious but holy shit it was all I could do to keep from embarrassing my wife with inappropriate laughter.  I will say that Lovett is an extremely talented musician to hear live.  His friend is kind of just a guy trying to be Texas Jimmy Buffet though.

I was at a Robert Earl Keen Jr. concert many years ago when he mentioned aggy and college station, a big crowd up front starting cheering and doing that whoop shit. A louder crowd of booing erupted from the back of the aggy crowd as beer cans and bottles flew through the air at the aggy contingent. It was a beautiful thing to see.

I heard aggy band (remember they can't use words like "the" to describe a noun).  Anyway, I was watching on Fox, and after the fucking war hymn was over, the Fox announcer told the listening audience that what you just heard was the "aggy theme song". I actually laughed out loud....  Aggy theme song

he got it mixed up with the Mickey Mouse Club theme song

I didn't want to sully the George Bush death thread, so I'll post this on here.

I was waiting to get the oil changed in my truck.  The Firestone shop had WFAA (Dallas ABC station) on with coverage of the funeral.  Out of nowhere comes the most nauseating "live" report I'd ever seen about how Bush fell in love with aggy, the tradition, the corp, etc... It, quite literally, sounded like one of those ads you see for a college at the halftime of football games.  Well, the print version showed up tonight with some of these gems:

The reporter  - Teresa Woodard - just kept going on and on and on about how great aggy was.  Decided to look up her bio.

Leave it up to a dumbass aggy to pimp her school during the honoring of a dead president.

Link to story and video if anyone wants a good vomit.

Tonight, WFAA showed the 4141 train rolling in to indoctrination station.

What was the thousdands of gomer doing as the train passed?

They were fucking cheering.

Love 41, Hate 41, or believe 41 was standing next to Lansdale in Dealey Plaza, the typical decorum is silence with your hand over your heart.

Fucking Gomer.

you know that those band core dork assholes that met Jimbo at the airport are gonna be on full parade.

Oh yes.  They were.  Lined up.  Every. Single. Last. One.  Thousands of costumed gomer lining the hearse route.  At least they were saluting and not cheering.  Although, as civilians, the vast majority were breaking protocol.

I seriously doubt they were cheering. They were yelling at him because he wouldn’t uncover and wasn’t humping it.

aggy band couldn't help but play their war song "kanuck kanuck" as the honor guard was unloading 41's casket from the train.

even in death aggy can't help but celebrate aggy

every time they loaded or unloaded the casket, Hail to the The Chief was played. Then aggy had to play their dumb carnival song.

To be fair, listening to NPR today - where they were reporting from "Navasoto" - said he was moving from "Houston on a train to a town named College Station", so you know they ain't fact checking shit either. But this is basically all media when dealing with things west of I-95.

my favorite is the national media's pronunciation of the BrazOs River. and 'H'umble, TX.

They played Hail to the Chief right before breaking into the long version of Hullabaloo. Here’s a little secret. The band did exactly what President Bush himself wanted them to do. Every second of the last three days had been scripted years in advance. If any of this had been taking place in Austin, aggy would be calling him a tshirt Horn.

I watched the tape and was mortified. I'd like to see confirmation that Bush requested their War Hymn (far more manly than a fight song) to be played at that moment.

Worse was the song ended with "There'll be hot time in the old town tonight."

Aggies are bumpkin yokel idiots.

Just let it go.

The ags hijacking the former president’s burial by playing their school theme song was disrespectful beyond words.

I was told he went to a game and was completely blown away by the hospitality. The Secret Service couldn't figure out where the parking lot was located after the game and some kind aggys personally escorted them to the Presidential limo.

Reminds me of President Ford at the Cotton Bowl..  During he tunnel walk with the teams, he was trying to make small talk with both coaches with minimal response from either. And the damn sure weren't talking to each other.
