He asked for a link.

Basically, Scipio thought Ewers showed improvement from last year. He specifically mentioned Ewers seeing the field better. He thought Murphy looked good, but thought people should pump the brakes over him hitting passes against walk ons in a controlled situation. He said we should be encouraged that it looks like we can win games with Murphy if something happens to Ewers.

Hey, do you guys remember the 2022 spring game?  Back when Quinn Ewers had "IT" and was definitely going to win the Heisman as a redshirt freshman?

Everyone needs to calm down about Murphy, he threw some nice passes and cooked a walk-on.  It's one glorified scrimmage.

So many people seem to be glossing over this. I'm sure people know that we're running vanilla, but they still seem to leave it out of their evaluations. We aren't showing anything new schematically and we aren't fully utilizing our best players. Plenty of guys who have their spots locked were making business decisions (side note - I was impressed with Worthy's effort, he got pretty chippy and I loved it). The defense also has the significant advantage of knowing these players and the playbook that other defenses won't have.

I generally agree, but the fact that reasonable people weren't expecting Arch to be great does not preclude this board freaking out about nothing. Surly could be getting a blowjob from Eva Green and still complain that her execution and effort weren't meeting expectations.

Is Eva Green a trans actress?

I looked up “Eva Green” expecting to see a porn actress, not a skinny dude wearing eye makeup

Weird way to come out by telling Surly you think Eva Green looks like a dude.

Never heard of the guy before I saw him referenced up above.

I have two different amigas with trans kids in other states, but being childless, this isn’t something I follow that much.

I’ll admit Eva Green is a somewhat odd choice for the poster to use as “the woman in the world I’d most like to fuck,” but she’s got giant tits and anyone of us would probably be lucky to get the time of day from her.

 Everyone admits Majors isn’t good.

Whenever people like Bobby Burton or Gerry Hamilton talk about what we still might look at from the portal, a DE who can pressure the QB always comes up. I've heard them talk about interior DL depth and another blocking TE. No one ever talks about getting an upgrade at Center. Any theories as to why that isn't ever a topic of conversation?

Probably because Center is the position that takes the longest to learn behind QB, so it would be hard to get a transfer ready to call out all the protections and assignments and Center is a position that’s in short supply in college, so there’s not many, if any, above average centers in the portal. The staff has actively tried to have guys switch to Center every offseason to give Majors competition. It’s pretty clear they’re not in love with him, but that doesn’t mean there’s a better option available.

It has been strange. There was talk they liked Robertson and he was the actual back up. That said, I am surprised they didn’t throw some numbers at the position. Have some of these highly rated interior guys make a run at the position (Neto, Campbell, etc).

edit: I guess you could say that despite Majors issues, guard was a bigger issue last year

FWIW... My overall view of the spring sorta-kinda like a real game.

First, we've gotten a whole lot closer to actual 2-deep all the way around, which is a Good Thing.

Second, we apparently have fully embraced the Pulaski game strategy. No punting, no kicking. We'll eschew XP and FG kicks, and we'll onside every KO.

My true concerns, as they were last year, are reserved for the Coaches, and particularly for the HC/OC and his inability to understand that you cannot abandon any of your games and keep a running a losing game plan as-is, under the apparent belief that doing so will prepare you to win next year or the next.

I may have seen Casino Royal, but I will mostly just make sure that search filters are removed and start looking for nudes. 👍

Not to contribute to the continued derailing of this thread, but if you're searching with filters off you may want to look for her in The Dreamers. I don't recommend actually watching the movie, but parts of it are pretty, pretty good.

I saw a lot to be excited about and potential in quite a few areas yesterday. I was very impressed by Maalik and Ewers looked efficient.

It’s exciting the stable of QBs we have and Arch will have the luxury of learning and being able to sit (hopefully.) I don’t know where a lot of the frustration is coming from I guess.

Sure Ewers came in with plenty of hype and he did show flashes last year (he was also injured) but given how his career started—leaving his senior year of HS when even Ohio State thought it was a bad idea for him to do so will always be a knock against him if he doesn’t measure up to the hype.

His footwork still is off but as people said he is seeing the field better and is making overall progress from where he was last year. But it’s hard not to be excited about Maalik. He has that something and he’s exciting to watch and I’m not going to feel bad about being excited about him. He was injured all last year and I gotta say if he had come out and played just meh or on Arch’s level it would be understandable…but he came out and shined in his possessions and took full advantage of his time on the field.

This is not for me a knock on Ewers but watching Maalik play was the most excited I have been watching our QBs since Colt and I don’t care if he was throwing to crash dummies or people in the stands—as Sark said the sky is the limit for him and it’s cool to see we haven’t even scratched the surface of what either Maalik or Ewers can be. I just saw something special in Maalik yesterday that I haven’t seen in a long time…got the chills listening to Colt yesterday  talk about how talented Maalik was and how he was bigger than VY. There is a lot of things to be excited about.

My biggest worry is still sark and playcalling and until he can prove me wrong (Bijan and RoJo were not utilized as well as they could have been last year and that’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it.) I’m excited but I have learned over the last decade to tap the brakes on my enthusiasm. But that’s hard because I’m such a passionate fan. But damn Maalik has that something. Im glad we all got to see it yesterday. Whatever happens I am glad we finally got to see that kid play. 🤘🏼

I'm ok with 2020 era yoga pants pulled way up and nips out tight shirt. Saw lots of nips out this weekend especially milfs. My wife can't pull that off especially breast feeding RN she would have little wet spots

In a perfect world Ewers wins the big 12 this year, next year it's playoffs with Murphy, following its Manning natty.

In a perfecter world Ewers changes his name to White so our back field matches the Texas flag Red White and Blue.

I don't understand why it's so controversial to say that Maalik looked better the QE yesterday.

Why are people so invested in QE being "the guy"?  Because he was highly rated as a Junior in HS?

It's not like Maalik was some scrub in HS.  The dude was runner-up in the Elite 11 that year beating QE who finished 6th.  Yet, Maalik is always described as a "project", as if Quinn isn't?

Dude went 9-13 with 3 obvious drops and a 4th to Gunner in the endzone that I think should have been caught.  My favorite throw was at about 6:40 mark.   and let me know if you think Quinn completes that.

There is just something different about him, and the team seemed more energized with him on the field.  Just my opinion.

I don’t think it’s controversial to say Maalik had a better spring game. I think most are trying to get people to temper their expectations based on a small sample size. I haven’t been Texas fans this excited since Casey Thompson’s bowl magic and that was an actual real game. Throw at 6:40 is a sack in a real game, which directly relates to the prior sentence

This is what everyone is going crazy about? In his first few throws he throws a crossing route behind his receiver allowing it to be broken up and then underthrows a wheel route requiring the back to slow way down to make the catch. One deep ball was good, the other was underthrown.

I see internet fans are still unable to tell what they're looking at and only see the result of a play. He is obviously very talented and coming along very nicely but he also obviously has a long way to go.

It's fine to say Maalik looked better than QE yesterday. My issue is this odd rush to pencil in Maalik as the starter when he's never taken a competitive snap in non-Spring ball. He should absolutely be given a chance to win the job. Will he win the job, I highly doubt it. There is something different about him but it was one Spring Game. Everyone needs to calm the f down and let things play out.

This is behind his receiver?  Moore is leaning forward and reaching out in front to try to catch the ball.  Could it have been an extra foot in front?  Sure.  But when Ewers was literally throwing behind the receiver on crosses last year, people were blaming the receiver for not adjusting to the throw.

IMO Austin Jordan just had a great pass break up there.

Both Maalik and Arch were playing against the 2nd and 3rd defense. Maalik's long throws were against a walk-on corner in single coverage. That is not disparaging, he played the hand he was dealt and took advantage. Those were beautiful throws. You can't truly get a sense of where he is until he is running against the first defense. Quinn played well, and only had one truly bad throw against first team guys. The context is important, which is why Sark went out of his way to say Quinn was the starter in his post game presser.

Most of the posters (myself included) have no sway over any football related decisions so who gives a fuck if people are excited about Maalik? I mean we haven’t won anything worth a shit in like 13 years…so I’m surprised we aren’t all completely burnt out. This “everyone tap the brakes shit” reminds me of the incessant “mansplaining” about QE to the board.

”well he was playing with the first string man! Ok! He had one hand tied behind his back and was wearing a blindfold and they dumped a truckload of sand on him when he was in the pocket…Sark was just throwing vanilla shit at him…look those other two guys didn’t have to throw in those conditions.”

I thought QE played well yesterday. Making better reads and was efficient. I hope we all see the hype on the field come game time. I really do. I want to see why it was QE had so much hype around him. I’ve see a few flashes but nothing that just makes me go…damn! Or at least not much so far. But he is working with one of the best as far as QB development and I bet we will see all that progress this fall. That is something to be excited about. I want to see why he was considered so elite and special. Most QBs can throw a bomb at this point…can we be accurate or the intermediate and short throws? Our WR situation this year will certainly help out QE more than it did last year. That is what it looked like to me. He has more weapons and one year in the Sark system so he can only grow and get better from there. I hope!

We haven’t seen either Malik’s or QE’s ceiling yet. It should be an interesting summer and football season. Like most people have said a competition can only make everyone better. I support whoever the starter is and right now it’s QE and it likely won’t change. He’s making progress. That is a good thing.

I don't have an issue with people saying Malik threw better than Quinn yesterday, Malik was more efficient with his throws.  My problem is people saying stupid shit like "the team seemed more energized with him on the field" or "Murphy just has IT."  That's dumb and has no objective basis.  Murphy seems to have "IT" and made the team "seem more energized" to you because he did something you liked.  Did Deandre Moore seem "energized" when he dropped that deep pass or did Helm seem "energized" when he dropped the touchdown?

Also, that throw at 6:40 is about a 5 yard out route to the boundary.  Hmm...

Yeah, Quinn can make that throw.

I don’t think that Helm throw in the endzone was a drop. I believe that was Lefau making a very nice play. TE had him boxed out. Ball was a bit high, giving Lefau the chance to go over Helm and get the break up. Really nice play by a freshman LB
