Yes.  Directly.

Those are two different accounts.  But i get the point of the WH trolling CB.  But that's what it is, trolling.  As Newsome did with BB&B.  They called out that they are leaving the state due to regulatory issues and state difficulties.  They never directly called Newsome out, who then...trying to be "Trumpish", decided to go after them directly.

Two different accounts?  Both posts are the fucking WHITE HOUSE.  The official account of the goddamned POTUS.  One is quoting Trump himself, and the other is a literal "go woke go broke" post.  WTF is the official account doing TROLLING a fucking business that did NOTHING to pick a political fight?  CB didn't say "we're doing this because MAGA America is hostile to our values" or any of that shit (which is EXACLTY what BBB did with California and Newsom -- they picked a fight with California FIRST).  Jesus.  There really is nothing that he does that you won't defend, is there?

Goddamned cult.  Enshittification of this country indeed.

They picked a fight "first"?  They never picked a fight at all.  When companies leave markets - they state why.  So you have no issues with Gavin inserting himself into the conversation with snarky insults because of why they stated that they are leaving for states with better economic/regulatory environments?

As for trolling businesses?  The WH has been trolling businesses going back to the 30's.  This idiotic rebranding has erased over $90M in market value and $200 in capitalization.

You are fucking insane.  Again....there is not a single fucking thing this admin could do that you won't excuse.

The fucking White House.  Is trolling the logo change of an insignificant roadside biscuit joint.  Attacking it NOT as a silly rebranding or basic marketing failure....but rather that it's "woke."  The highest office in the land is the living embodiment of a meme of utter stupidity:

what-engine-is-this-i-dont-want-to-be-wo

And you defend it.

Enshittification is you.

And your utterly moronic analogy MIGHT have some legs if CB had changed its logo and said something....ANYTHING....about changing it because of MAGA culture or whatnot.  They didn't.  They didn't say a goddamned think like that to provoke ANY of the ire the insane fucking regime is sending their way.  It's a made-up issue by an insane, sick, twisted, and cruel man with a completely broken brain, and half of America loves it, because half of America is deeply, deeply shitty.

So we've moved on from Gavin Newsome doing the exact same thing because a struggling company dared to state why they are leaving a certain state.  Cool.  Or prior examples going back decades.

And, to be fair you also have a favorite book

this is especially funny from someone who has literally linked to neonazi propaganda as a serious source in a discussion on Surly

I mean....Godwin himself has pulled back on Godwin's law.  MAYBE if your dude stopped running plays pulled, virtually unchanged, from the national socialism playbook, he wouldn't draw the nazi comparisons.  Maybe if one of the primary architects of his regime didn't openly state that all 65 million hispanics in the US need to go.  Maybe if his regime didn't deem the political opposition to be a domestic terror organization or somesuch.  Maybe if his regime didn't pursue the openly fascist policy of state control of private enterprises.  Etc. times 100,000 other examples.

Nope.  You're good with the fucking GOVERNMENT attacking a garden-variety rebranding decision as "woke," because everything you don't like is "woke" (which is, of course, the world's worst cover for "why can't we just get back to everything being about white people and only white people?")  The regime simultaneously threatens to deport all hispanics, while also lamenting white people not having a spot of supremacy in every possible way, even ways that don't even make fucking sense (it's a goddamn mediocre restaurant logo).  You are on the enshittification side, and pushing on the gas.

Oh, come now - you're so good at the Godwin label argument.  Going back to W.  It's your thing.

Going back to W.

And there's where you have yet another massive swing and a miss.

I have (and had) plenty of issue with W.  But I sure as shit didn't and don't think that he wanted to end the Constitutional Republic and end free and fair elections and such (I'm disappointed with his silence during the Trump regime).  FFS, immigration is actually an issue that W was damned near perfect on (he was defeated, of course....by your guys who really, really need foreign enemies to rally against).

I've always been anti-authoritarian.  Interestingly, for a long time, that actually saw me align more with GOP leaders.  And then....inshittification, and cowards who used to be for things like free trade, free speech, and the rule of law.....happily abandoned those things in a fit of servile, pathetic simping, all to feed the hate engine.  I gotta admit, my failure and embarrassment was that I naively didn't see it coming until it was too late.  What I also didn't see was how many people would happily embrace it.

hat tip to c-man for linking this in another thread, as for why everything has been turning into a gray-beige box. It's not wokeness, and """trolling""" over it is just another smoke screen to distract from the president's child rape. Say, didn't Babayaga give a WHOLE LOTTA shits about pedos a while ago?

I look at this differently: I think that there genuinely is a deepening pushback against the depressing and sloppy beigification of everything. I think that people actually didn’t like the half-assed rework of a piece of familiar, iconic, and harmless Americana (even if attached to a mediocre chain restaurant) into appified slop.

But, I do think it’s a reflection of a dangerous political moment in this way: the people who don’t like it are unable to express why they don’t like it outside of political wars. Any point of disagreement or dissatisfaction is reduced to an argument over woke/anti-woke in the same way any and all preferences in the Soviet Union were framed as to whether they were revolutionary or reactionary.

And this works the other way, too. Because it’s been politicized, people have the knee-jerk reaction of either defending what is truly a shitty rebrand or saying that no one should care even though caring about trivial aesthetic and marketing shit has a long non-politicized proud tradition (see uniform pron thread).

It should be simple and non-political to  say the obvious: The Cracker Barrel rebrand sucks. It’s boring and bland and makes our shared human-shaped geography just a little bit more soulless and less fun in an era when soul and fun is in short supply. It’s borne of conformist and soggy marketing brain that thinks making the physical world more like a smartphone screen is good design.

The fact that we as a society can’t find the way to say this without reference to hyper-partisan framing  is further evidence of creeping totalitarianism in the sense that almost no opinions can be voiced or conversations held outside politics. It’s a hallmark of decaying democracies and hyper-ideological dictatorships.

This is all the rebrand is, and it's part of the motivation behind some of the common design elements in newer buildings, but when it comes to the aesthetics of the buildings there's more at play. Making all these pad site buildings essentially the same keeps costs down, makes repairs and upgrades easier, and also makes finding replacement tenants much easier. The pad sites they're on are sold in a big NNN lease market to buyers who want to buy the cash flow the rentals provide without worrying about incurring substantial expense if the tenant fails. Nobody wants to buy a pad site with a 1990s Pizza Hut on it, because the only replacement tenant that will take the space is a shitty vape store.

In other words, it's capitalism. Short of some pretty substantial state intervention, we're not going to see much of anything different.

I do feel like this needs to be mentioned more frequently here.
