Based on his physical condition and his weight, I’d bet this guy hasn’t done anything the hard way since Barron was conceived.

Silent Trump voters in 2016 surprised most of us  and he won the election.

I am optimistic there's a significant number of silent Anti-Trump voters who will help make sure he never sees the Oval Office again.

Maybe it's been discussed at length (I certainly miss pages of this thread of a time, so point me to a page number if I'm rehashing old shit) but can anyone explain the disconnect between the betting markets and polls?  I'm not following closely so maybe a poll shift but most I've seen still seem to be predicting a narrow Harris win.  But Trump appears to be a relatively comfortable favorite in the betting markets.   I don't think presidential betting reflect the market the same extent as sports betting (with actual regulated books not taking bets + small $ limits, etc.) but still a bit surprising.

I’ve said before that silent majority is now the loud minority.

Trump and his crony grifters are cooking numbers everywhere to make people think he's winning. They don't want you to trust your own eyes or instincts, they manufacture numbers to gaslight Americans.

In fairness, that could be a clip of any three women of that age and station in life.......seeing the typical posts on Surly.

Every male poster on this site has seen/earned that look.  Most of us within the past 24 hours.

So, "a bit close to home," etc.

I've gotten that look 3 or 4 times today alone, and I think I've had a pretty good day.  I've also hardly been at home.

Please point to anyone like this.  Because you're full of shit if you think the majority of Democratic ideals live within the 40's.

Man, the democrats are the only party within the 40s. The Republicans are over in the Chuck E Cheese next door to the stadium.

But to be fair, there is no reason for the Democrats to be pushing a different version.  The perception of a close race not only increases the chances of beating Trump, it helps down ballot, builds a warchest, and brings new voters out for future elections.  (Also, it lines the pockets of the political machine, but maybe that's a little more cynical than I want to focus on.) I have a legitimate fear that I may be misreading America and Trump really has a 50/50 shot of winning.  I am sure the Harris campaign shares that uncertainty. They don't want to say anything that drives complacency.  They aren't commissioning Dem friendly pollsters.  They aren't releasing internal polling (except in races that no one thought the Dems had a shot.). They aren't working the media to drive confidence.

I feel like it's the beginning of the pandemic when the CDC said not to worry about masks.  It was bullshit, but it was necessary to get those masks to healthcare workers.  I think Dems are complicit in pushing bullshit for the greater good.  I'm okay with that, even if it wrecks my nerves.

Or maybe the race really is close.

Paystub guy is greenspoint. Rocko was the guy who bought a suit to sleep with some hookers and left the tag on so he could return it. He posted pics with the price tag still hanging off the wrist, IIRC. Then again I apprently didn't remember his age correctly, so...

Rocko also pasted a paystub iirc.  And didnt know to remove the tags from his jacket.  He was early 20's about 10 years ago or so.

I just saw the most offensive political commercial in my entire life. In it, presidential candidate Randall Terry claims Kamela Harris is working for the KKK to abort black babies, and then shows dead black babies and fetuses. Most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen. We have to get back in control of the media. This is ridiculous. ABC posted a note beforehand that they were required by law to show the ad.

Common I would’ve guessed. Lil Wayne is surprising, he was a Trump guy in 2020 and met with him.

He did that in order to get a pardon, which he did. He played DOTARD.

Anthony Blinken, Janet Yellen, Merrick Garland, Tom Vilsack, Gina Raimondo, Julie Su, Jennifer Granholm, John Tester, Denis McDonough, Avril Haines, Jered Bernstein, Bill Burns, Gretchen Whitmer, Jared Polis, Tim Walz, Josh Shapiro, Andy Bashear, Pete Buttigieg, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris…

I got tired of typing - can you name a current Republican presidential candidate who is either a gun owner, has not threatened to suspend the constitution,  or not said we should take your guns without due process?

You've never heard of Travis Scott? Kendrick Lamar? Childish Gambino? Future? Like all of these are the most surface rappers I can think of, Travis Scott had a fucking McDonalds meal named after him.

One of those guys performed at Astroworld, right?

Saw a photo of him and I would never say Black people look alike, but holy fuck, shave the beard and he looks like Troy from the Community TV series. It’s like “where’s Abed?”

By the way - parties don’t have “ideals,” and only suckers think they do. There is what they do, and who they do it for, and whether or not they choose to respect the public process of choosing sides.

That’s it and that’s all.

And you may think you’re safe, but if you vote for people who don’t respect the choice, no one is. Not even you.

I think it's just that stupid people bet on results that they're hoping for. There were quite a few that bet on Conor McGregor to beat Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match.

Since Mayweather had always been a convincing favorite throughout his career -- -200 against Pacquiao, -300 versus Canelo Alvarez, -400 against Shane Mosely -- professional bettors couldn't believe they could get a similar price on Mayweather versus McGregor.

Mayweather's odds dipped under -400 in the days leading up the fight, and the big, smart money began appearing.

Um it’s big crypto money (and foreign money) betting on Trump and then believing he’s now the favorite, or trying to convince people he’s the favorite.  Do you think the average Democrat is betting on politics?

Betting markets for elections are so fucking stupid.
