The first time my oldest daughter picked up a .22 rifle when she was 9 years old, she shot a bullseye group about a half inch across at 30 yards with open sights and about 10 minutes of instruction.  I promise you don't want to try to out shoot her even today. Sure you'd beat her in a fist fight, but she's too smart to engage you there.  You'd never see it coming.

A hilarious explanation for why the Tesla Diner's matcha iced tea looks so disgusting (note: there is no explanation for the hideous wagyu chili):

Holy shit, it's a drink. I thought it was a cup of canned green beans or okra the first time around!

Tesla Warns: “Windshield Replacement in a Cybertruck is Quite an Invasive Surgery. Many Parts Need to be Dismantled, and the Old Windshield Essentially Has to Be Sawn Out of the Frame”

Quote

Doug Mac, a Cybertruck owner from Michigan, says he was surprised by Tesla's response after he reached out to the EV maker about a defect in his Cybertruck windshield.

Doug’s Cybertruck has a small flaw on the bottom left corner of the windshield where the black frit has become transparent and has an uneven edge.

Because the defect is small and located at the lower part of the windshield, just below the wiper blade mount, it doesn’t impair Doug’s visibility.

Quote

However, Doug believes the blemish is a manufacturing defect and has contacted Tesla to request a full windshield replacement under warranty.

So far, Doug was not too upset by the small defect; however, he says he was taken aback by Tesla’s reply.

In response to his warranty repair request, a Tesla service technician sent Doug a lengthy warning about the dangers of replacing a Cybertruck windshield.

Tesla advised Doug against replacing the windshield over a minor cosmetic flaw, likening the repair process to invasive surgery.

Quote

The Tesla technician clarified that, particularly with the Cybertruck—which features the largest windshield in the automotive industry—replacing the windshield effectively entails having to saw out the old windshield.

Tesla’s warning was that Doug might cause more issues by getting his windshield replaced rather than the small cosmetic defect.

Some might agree with Tesla’s concerns; however, Doug expressed his disappointment with this response, calling it truly unexpected.

Spoiler

The frustrated Cybertruck owner shared his story on the Tesla Cybertruck Owners group on Facebook.

Doug asks…

“What would you do?”

Below his post, Doug included several pictures showing the defect on his Cybertruck windshield. As mentioned above, the blemish is a small, transparent, uneven surface on the lower left corner of the windshield.

In addition to the defect, Doug also shared a screenshot from his Tesla app showing the response he received from Tesla after requesting a windshield replacement under warranty.

The Tesla message reads:

“While it is rare for glass replacement to be covered under warranty, it looks possible from your photo — we'll just need to see it onsite to make the determination.

However, you may want to take some time to think about whether you'd really want this repaired for a small cosmetic blemish, even if it's under warranty.

A windshield replacement, especially in a Cybertruck, is quite an invasive surgery—many components need to be dismantled, and the old windshield essentially has to be sawn out of the frame.

While our technicians are very skilled, there are many inherent risks in any repair—not to mention your own inconvenience!

Just something for you to consider, if this is something you're comfortable living with.”

Looking at the comments, fellow Cybertruck owners were divided about Tesla’s reply. Some Cybertruck owners said Tesla’s reply is bizarre, whereas others defended the EV maker and advised Doug to simply get over the small blemish.

A fellow Cybertruck owner, Worrell Thomas, referring to Tesla’s reply, writes…

“That’s a crazy response.”

Doug agrees, saying…

“It was very unexpected.”

However, many other Cybertruck owners agreed with Tesla and said the blemish is not a big deal and to forget about it.

A fellow Cybertruck owner, Robert Whitlock, writes…

“Leave it be”

Another Cybertruck owner, Steve Resis, writes…

“Let it go.”

A third Cybertruck owner, Jimmy Johnson, writes…

I would correct it with a black permanent marker if nothing else is wrong and not worry about it anymore. Every experience with any auto repair is usually very disappointing. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

lol “don’t fix it bc we will probably break something else attempting warranty work” isn’t the argument you should be putting in writing

I’ve had matcha served the way it is served in the ancient tea ceremony. Very formal, and also elitist. Nevertheless, its roots are grounded in natural beauty.

The tea tastes of chlorophyll, I am told. For whatever reason, it made me think of the ocean. Maybe I thought of seaweed, because it isn’t salty or fishy. It’s not unpleasant, but it must be an acquired taste.

Tesla shares are up today after the company revealed its plan to give Elon Musk part of his long-promised blockbuster payday — some $29 billion, as its original proposal remains stuck in the Delaware courts.

1,000,000 x 1,000 x 29.

Imagine what you'd do with a million dollars. Now, imagine what you'd do with a million dollars times one thousand. Then, multiply that by 29.

$29 billion is an obscene amount of money for simply breathing air.

There's not a single human being living on Planet Earth who deserves such an obscene amount of money.

Lots of ink has been spilled about this particular part of Musk's controversies, but I happen to think he "earned" the money, in the sense that is described as below.

Quote

What’s in the pay package: Tesla is offering Musk a “down payment” of about one-third of what he would have received under the prior agreement, representing roughly 3 percent of the company.

While that’s an astounding figure, remember that Tesla’s market capitalization is still nearly $1 trillion, a testament to the value created under its C.E.O. since the company’s original plan was conceived.

The context: Back in 2018, I broke the news of Musk’s initial pay package. At the time, it seemed audacious: He would receive no compensation unless Tesla surpassed some truly enormous hurdles, including a significant increase in the company’s market capitalization (then around $50 billion). I called it “about as friendly to shareholders as they come” because of how it tied Musk’s compensation to the company: If he didn’t perform, “shareholders pay nothing.”

But a Delaware judge rejected it, ruling that Tesla’s board hadn’t been independent enough and that shareholders hadn’t received proper disclosure. Even after shareholders overwhelmingly re-approved the plan, the judge struck it down again.

Some things are different now: Tesla moved its incorporation to Texas, which is seen as more management-friendly than Delaware. The pay package announced today was approved by a special board committee composed of just two members: Robyn Denholm, Tesla’s chair, and Kathleen Wilson-Thompson, another director.

And the company said that if Delaware courts reinstate the 2018 pay package, either this stock grant will be forfeited or a portion of the old one will be. “To put it simply, there cannot be any ‘double dip,” Denholm and Wilson-Thompson wrote in a letter to shareholders.

What hasn’t changed is Tesla’s rationale for paying Musk so much. Denholm and Wilson-Thompson wrote that the company was focusing more on becoming “a leader in A.I., robotics and related services,” requiring a leader with a strong vision and execution skills.

That person, they wrote, was Musk — who has threatened to leave Tesla if he doesn’t get what he believes is fair compensation and adequate control of the carmaker.

More evidence of meme stock status:

Quote

“Through Elon’s unique vision and leadership, Tesla is transitioning from its role as a leader in the electric vehicle and renewable energy industries to grow toward becoming a leader in A.I., robotics and related services,”

Translation: “Our car company is not doing so well as a car company anymore, especially since Elon helped elect the person who killed our sweet federal dollars.  We need Elon as an edgelord tech guru to fleece rubes on something that isn’t making money and we aren’t really good at either.”

It's all make-believe, funny money. Tesla’s not "worth" $1 trillion -- 1/5 of the entire manufacturing sector of the US economy.

Exactly.

But it's make believe value and wealth that has been materialized (on paper and in markets). GM and their shuttered autonous driving tech Cruise can't say that. Etc.

Sure it's all fugayzi fugazzi but there is a big difference when you have the cult of personality to actually create the fungible value versus just talk about it. And that is it's own debate.
