Similar to retrospectively analyzing the Deshaun Watson trade, I took a peek at the James Harden trade to see how it stands today:

Rockets received:

  • 2021 pick swap - Not utilized
  • 2022 #17 pick - Tari Eason
  • 2022 Miami pick swap for Oladipo - Not utilized
  • 2023 pick swap - Not utilized
  • 2024 #3 pick - Reed Sheppard
  • 2025 pick swap - traded back to Nets
  • 2026 FRP - traded back to Nets

From second Nets trade:

  • 2025 Suns pick swap (#10) - traded back to Suns
  • 2027 Suns FRP
  • 2029 pick swap with best of Suns/Mavs

So the net transaction thus far is:

  • James Harden, Jalen Green, and Dillon Brooks, for
  • Tari Eason, Reed Sheppard, KD, 2027 Suns pick, 2029 swap with Suns or Mavs

and phoenix:

The Phoenix Suns turned 4 unprotected firsts, 1 unprotected swap, Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson & Jae Crowder into...Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the 10th pick in this year's draft and 5 seconds

Doesn’t happen without San Antonio getting cute as shit. Thank you Spurs. Enjoy your overrated food and smelly ass river.

Seriously, San Antonio might be the most overrated city anywhere outside of Dallas.

Swinging big for a star has consequences. I guess they have a finals appearance to show for it 🤷‍♂️

that was before the KD/mikal trade lol. Booker and CP3 were the headliners of that finals team. Its all been down hill for PHX since they blew like a game 3 lead vs MIL to go up 2-1. literally nothings gone right for them

Fuck yeah, hook 'em.

Now need some strong vets to come on in support roles on one or two year deals, and this team will be looking relatively complete. I know KD is aging but he's a scoring upgrade from what we've had and should compliment inside game nicely.

Just so yall know I made this deal happen. I had 5 minutes with Ishbia last month and told him he needed to trade KD to the Rockets. Now, KD is with the Rockets.
You are all welcome.

Wow, that's a good deal for Houston. You just know the Suns talked themselves into leaving the 27/29 picks out there thinking "there's just no way we will be bad again!!!!". Lololololol

Can't wait for Booker to ask out next year, it will be glorious. Beal and Green, wow, it's like having secret agents helping guide your future draft picks to the top.

KD, Sengun, Smith, Adams, Amen lineup of all the rebounds and dunks.

I'm good with not trading for KD.

If the trade does happen, it needs to not hurt if kD misses 20 games.

I'd be ok giving up Reed. He is easily replaced. Id be OK giving up Cam. He may never buy in.  I'm ok giving up #10 pick.

That means there has to be a 3rd team if PHX wants a SF/PF/C... Because I'm not giving up any of Amen,Tari, Jabari, Alperen.

Or don't give up anybody except JG and DB.

NBA might overrule this trade....

This is fucking awesome!! Love the trade and all of the loyal Rockets fans who post on this thread. Yes! I’m talking about you fuckers!!! :) Western Conference Finals is the floor of what is an acceptable season outcome next year.

Is there an opportunity to upgrade over FVV? Shröder? D’Angelo Russell? They better not extend him at higher than $25m/yr.

Next focus I’m guessing is to resign Bari and Tari to extensions.

Expendable assets remaining

J Tate -$14 million

Londale -$8 million

Holiday -$5 million

are we done making moves?

FVV definitely gets his team option declined and resigns at a lower number as well

I fucking love it. Goodbye Jalen Green, I will not miss trying to defend you to the haters. Goodbye Dillon Brooks, I fucking hated signing you and was very wrong, you will be missed. HELLO KEVIN DURANT WELCOME HOME!

Not giving up the 2027 or 2029 Phoenix picks plus hanging on to Sheppard, Jabari, Eason and Whitmore is crazy! I think there is another move left here plus should have room for the MLE even after resigning FVV and Adams

Rockets just replaced the worst player in their starting 5 with a top 15 player of all time....lets fucking gooooooooooooooooooo!

gave national radio a quick listen before the astros pregame ...... what the rockets durant trade means to the lakers !

The afternoon national guy on 790 is horrifically bad. He’ll have a NFL expert on to talk the Eagles, and before they get started he’ll ask about the Lakers sale.

All that, plus some future 1sts for Derrick White 😁

When do we have to opt in (or not) for FVV?

believe 6/29 is the deadline.

i am under the impression that KD will sign a 2 year extension at some point this summer, so I'd be fine with giving Fred a 3 year deal to match the time that KD will have on his deal.  3 years, $70ish million sounds about right.

Funny but you make a good point. They have enough money in expiring contracts to acquire a really good veteran.

I am 100% serious. Use some future picks to make it happen. Boston is not contending with Tatum out next year. They aren't trading Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, so that leave Porzingis (lol nobody wants him) and Jrue (incredibly expensive). Neither of those guys are plus assets due to their salaries. The Celtics have to trade White, and I'm sure they don't want to send him to the East. This is a realistic opportunity to sign Fred to a decent deal, get White, and be set for 3-4 years.

Curious what Durant signs for. If he agreed to take a cut then y'all are in business to an even greater degree.

When is Amen's first big # season? '27 or '28?

White is one of the better and relatively cheaper players. I don’t see. They’ll exhaust options to deal Holiday and Brown first.

Amen should be due for his extension (which will be the rookie scale max) next summer.  But I don't think it will kick in until year 5 so they should still have 2 more cheap years of Amen.
