Pretty sure they'll want Yainer, not Victor.

Pretty sure they can fuck right off. Cesar is a rental. Their catcher position is fucked and they went to compete now. They need catcher, OF and Utility guy and their chip is a really talented pitcher pitching like shit this year. In no world is Yainer Diaz going over there even straight up.

Dana is playing 4D chess, raising the price on Cease and Alcantara then trading for...Verlander

I’d trade for him too.
something like JV and 4M for Jason Alexander and Shay Whitcomb.
the Giants are working with JV to send him somewhere he’d like to be. I have to think that the list is houston and Detroit.
he could be our 5/6 guy.
Framber, Brown, Cease, Arrighetti, Javier, JV. That works for me dog.

The Houston Astros added a utility infield option on Wednesday, acquiring Ramon Urias from the Baltimore Orioles, a source confirmed to ESPN.

Baltimore reportedly is receiving minor league right-hander Twine Palmer in return, according to the source.

Urias, 31, has spent his entire six-year major league career with the Orioles. He won a Gold Glove Award in 2022 at third base, where he has seen the most action, but he also has extensive experience at second base and shortstop, plus some time at first base.

The Mexico native is hitting .248 with a .300 on-base percentage, a .388 slugging percentage, eight homers and 34 RBIs in 77 games this season. Over his career, he has hit .259/.324/.404 with 47 home runs and 205 RBIs in 506 games.

Palmer, 20, posted a 2-0 record and a 2.13 ERA in 13 games (eight starts) for Class-A Fayetteville this year. The Astros selected him in the 19th round of the 2024 draft out of an Oklahoma junior college.

The New York Post was first to report the trade.

Good pick up.  Dependable glove at several IF positions .. 3B is best .. and a not a headache.  A smile is about as demonstrable as he gets.

Hated to see him go.  But, there are youngsters on the ML roster who need his innings.

Will be handing out negs for stupidity on this thread today. Dubon isn't getting moved, do not post Michael Schwab under any circumstance, and 3 putt needs a post limit today.

Those seem like good everyday rules.

Wow. Did that dude even stretch? I watch those guys pregame sometimes and wonder why they even bother with the charade. That’s a bad injury for a guy that’s not fast running about 45 feet

Pretty amazing that a guy with just over $40M in career earnings and a 10-11 career was paid 75% of those earnings in 3 years, fucking Bagwell.

Doubt that matters this year. Hes your every day starter at third the rest of this season. At least he’s a decent glove. Has another year of control as well. Still an absolute snoozer. If this is it for the deadline, we can go ahead and fast forward to 2026

Hey,  .248 average and an OPS of almost .690 are an upgrade for anyone else on the roster outside of Dubon.

The more I look at Urias the more I like the move

1. We didnt give up shit. Kid we gave up is a future reliever with his BB rate

2. Urias is basically just another Dubon with a little more pop, a little less hit and similar defense

3. We need dudes with a pulse at this point and I never want to see names like Hummel and Short again

4. He is not a rental

this means Carlos has to come back now

Why? This isn't the Carlos of old we are trading for and Suarez has a career average under .230 hitting in Seattle.

He will strike out, hit home runs, and the Astros as about to hit a stretch that is going to make or break them playing the East.

Astros have to address the pitching issue plain and simple be it getting guys back or adding an arm.

y'all, it's a joke.

Suarez was a Mariner and they traded him away for salary reasons only to spend prospect capital to get him back not even two years later.

Same shit we went through with the knee before he finally agreed to the surgery.

The guy has had three strings in 8 years where he has missed 50+ games in a season.  That is a bit worrisome for someone who is a DH a good part of the time.

The batting average across MLB is .245

Good. Brining Correa back after likely getting Pena back tomorrow and picking up Urias makes zero sense unless the Twins are willing to get no-lubed.

We need a starting pitcher and/or a lefty bat in the OF. SS/3B is about our least area of need right now, and we definitely don't need another right-handed bat that costs $30M/year and is barely above-replacement this season.

He's already fat with trying to play 150 baseball games a year.   Imagine how out of shape he'll show up sitting on the couch drinking cervezas for 7 months.

Are we talking John Singleton, Lance Berkmam or Charlie Krefeld fat?

That's absolutely what the Astros should have done with Correa.  If the new owner wants to pay $50M to dump $50M, great--Urias goes to 2B and Dubon to the OF.

Not that it matters but I could definitely see Correa play in the OF if his injuries continue. He has the arm and decent enough speed to fit in an OF corner later in his career

This ends up with Altuve at 1B, doesn't it
