I pictured a Japanese woman.

"Tammy" tells you most of what you need to know.  Hub apparently is a plastic surgeon in Arlington.

I find it fascinating that people like her, miscegenators, can be hardcore MAGAts.

The rest of Hays County voted to increase funding for education, voting in favor of every bond except the bond to fund a new football stadium.

To be fair, the bond for a new high school did pass in Dripping as well

Good. This may be an unpopular opinion but, if we’re going to cut public funding for anything, it should be school sports.

Superintendents won’t publicly say this, but they don’t want to ask the taxpayers to pay for these mega-complexes either. The problem they face is the rapid population growth/movement in Texas. New families are coming in and deciding where to live, and schools are a big part of that decision. A former superintendent I worked for called it the “drive by test” when families would scout out an area and be wowed by all the expensive ass facilities. If all your neighbors are building this stuff, then you are at risk of being left behind. With funding tied to attendance, it’s not worth the risk for them.

to talk about how great their dear leader is and how buying their service helps get God back in this country...mind you, I saw him a couple weeks ago and the only thing he could talk about was when he came out to Lake Travis 20 yrs ago w/ me and got to see big fake tits out in the open and drink rum out of slut's bellybuttons.

The #1 rule for every single one of these assholes is "laws for thee, not for me."  Kind of like how you are most likely to be sexually assaulted/abused/demeaned/degraded by someone whose public mantra is some sexual purity bullshit.

Put another way, these are all members of the in-group: "there must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

Whereas REAL lovers of freedom and liberty both preach and practice "dude...mind your own fucking business and leave people the fuck alone."

I teach in Plano. Lots of Asian and Indian families moved to town and started out in apartments in Plano for the schools. But we have lost many students to Prosper as those families start building houses. Few places left in Plano to build new, and what is built new is mostly townhome type stuff.

So they go to Prosper where they can build a new 5000 sq ft house for the same money that a 30 year old 2000 sq ft house in Plano would be.

the south asian community has quadrupled in frisco in the past 10 years and the magats are freaking out about it because it is totally fucking with their gerrymandering

combined with the gentrification of plano and the celina/prosper growth mix #teamwheels are going to try some wild stuff the next time they get a crack at a map, including from what i've heard districts with sections that are non-adjacent

We have also had some good success getting nuts out of local government here in Cedar Park over the last few years.

However, these are typically low turnout elections. The main people showing up are high information voters and people pissed off about the nuts ruining our schools and local communities.

I am not getting my hopes up for a general shift.

it's addition by subtraction

every insane removal = 1 less "unit" of insane messaging for the echo chamber

Always good to see wing nuts take a fat L.  But even the GOP internals are now showing that the party is now the low-information, low-propensity movement.  I don’t think you can read into how the burbs will vote in a national election from this.

no one that is deep into the GOP messaging is changing their vote.  only thing to read from it is turnout. if dems do organize and turn out the vote then that matters and could translate.

I've been paying attention to the last few Austin ISD bonds and various other bonds, and I can say that funding for sports improvements generally tops the list, followed by funding for fine arts.  There is also a lot of money in there for basic maintenance and AISD is way behind in just maintaining what they've got.  During the 2022 bond process, the team was divided into groups like athletics, fine arts, transportation, and academics.  Everyone had nebulous goals except for athletics, and they had super specific goals like 18 scoreboards, 50 basketball goals, etc.

The Hays bonds passed, which is great for them, and they include money for artificial turf at all middle schools and money for an outdoor covered sports "pavilion" at all high schools.  A pavilion is an artificial turf field covered by a shade structure, like an indoor practice facility but without the walls.  It's shaded but not air conditioned.  Sports and fine arts spending, middle school to high school.   They are also building a brand new high school.

The Dripping Springs bonds passed, which is great for them, and they include a brand new high school.  If you look at the plans for the school, you can see how much of the footprint of a modern high school is used for sports and fine arts.  They have an "academic wing" and "CTE space" for the basics, and add to it baseball, softball, football/soccer that will someday be a stadium, two football/soccer/band turf practice fields, a band practice pad, (which is an overflow parking lot for the stadium used mostly by the band), competition and practice gyms, tennis courts and a performing arts center.

The DS school is very typical of a new build high school.  The academic footprint is small and sports/fine arts takes up a ton of space on the campus.  Lake Travis is building one with even more amenities.  Del Valle is building one.  Hays is building one and they just built M&G Johnson which is similar.

Austin ISD has not spent as much on sports and fine arts over the years, and I think the lack of spending has contributed to their decline.  Surrounding districts did it and their campuses are much more attractive.  Families get a cheaper house and better buildings.  I wish it were more attractive to lead with academic spending, but I don't think it is.

If we do have free elections in the near future and we manage to oust the Trumpists, the next administration needs to make a national priority of investing in the kind of automation you see throughout Idiocracy. We are fast becoming too stupid to take care of ourselves.

Dripping Springs is pretty much a lost cause at this point. The MAGA contingent has drifted out west and settled there. Seeing the bonds pass was a complete surprise.

So basically her entire self-image and ideology is driven by the fact that her husband changed and she couldn't handle it? And the rage at rejection has just turned her into a bitter hate machine? Because I'm not watching that video.

I like Gainesville. I may have mentioned to you before that a friend's mother grew up there and went to Booker T. Washington when schools were still segregated. She left and had her daughter out in SoCal and raised her in Costa Mesa. I remember going up to Gainesville around 2002 or so for church at the CofC. The mom's family made dinner and I had the best fried chicken I have ever had from her brother. It was interesting family. It is former Gainesville basketball state champion JR Harrison's family. Very nice people.

I know the Harrison’s well. I played with both JR and his brother Jeremy.

My parent’s see their mom nearly every Sunday

Gainesville is slowly losing its country moniker since the growth is heading north. Just got a Chick-fil-a and the rumors are a Texas Roadhouse is coming. The dark dark rumor is HEB bought land in Gainesville. And that’s when the big bucks roll in.

Gainesville is still a dump. Went to the "Gainesville Zoo" last summer for some country inlaw reunion thing with the grandkids and wow. That was a sad state of affairs. An emaciated black bear in a chain link fence on a 200 sqft concrete slab was the highlight of the trip. Deformed giraffes cast off from mid-tier city zoos. A smattering of invasive species pawned off as attractions (e.g. raccoons, rabbits, wild boars).

The sad part is I'm only slightly exaggerating.

Seems like the most relevant thread for this. Don Zimmerman, former Austin City Council clown, is leading protests at Cedar Ridge HS in Round Rock at dismissal each day. Evidently there is a trans teacher there, which is obviously a crime against humanity…..or the best way for ole Don to stay in the news.

A friend made a FB post saying the protesters should leave the school community alone. Zimmerman lost his bid for RRISD school board and people have rejected his views.

He found the FB post and wrote this response that would impress Alex Jones:

“Thank you for affirming your faith in the trans cult religion of government school.   Since we are being forced - by taxes - to subsidize the subversive demonic cult "trans" religion, WE WILL CONTINUE to protest until Mr. Lambert is removed from the RRISD teaching authority.  I have filed Grievance  # 2025-02-0439 against Mr. Andrew Roland Lambert,  a man who is misrepresenting himself as a woman at CRHS:  "Mr. Andrew Roland Lambert (a man) is misrepresenting himself in the high school yearbook, and as a classroom teacher, as "Ms. Alyssa Lambert" (a woman), in Violation of Educator's Code of Ethics, 247.2(1)(J), Standard 1.10. "The educator shall be of good moral character and be worthy to instruct or supervise the youth of this state." Mr. Lambert exercises "Moral turpitude--Improper conduct, including, but not limited to, the following: dishonesty; fraud; deceit; ...; misrepresentation" of his biological gender. Mr. Lambert might be exercising "base, vile, or depraved acts that are intended to arouse or to gratify the sexual desire of the actor", by misrepresenting his gender and modeling a deceptive lifestyle as if it were normal, morally correct and acceptable, which represents "modeling" by a teaching professional. Mr. Lambert "models" the behavior of pretending to be the opposite sex to young, impressionable students, which could lead them to model his behavior, which could be damaging to students physical and mental health."               Here is Mr. Lambert's Texas Educator Certificate:
