If Arch played well then dumbness Sark should have started Arch over Ewers, Arch shits the bed and Sark should have called better plays. There was never going to be any in between here. Dipshits all game bitching at Sark for not having those short easy throws he gave Ewers, well we all saw Arch with the short easy throws, he was fucking horrible at it. Maybe Sark knows what Arch can do best. Today it was nothing.

Terrible playcallin' by Sark + Arch showing freshman-like tendencies today.

May need some Texas freshman WRs to earn more playing time by conference play to help passing game too...

Did Arch's play affect Sark's playcalling.
Or did Sark's playcalling affect Arch's performance?

I'm going to go with... this is more on Arch.
But we'll see a YUGE difference next wee.

sark deserves his fair share of blame. But the QB cost them this game.

Arch did not win us this game. But Sark fucking lost it for us. You simply cannot come out 0 for 2 in the red zone. Inexcusable. And go look at the play sequences.  It wasn’t execution, it was 100% playcalling.

Despite the consistent lack of pressure on Sayin, our D was legit. Today was a major test, and they clearly passed it.

How many yards did Niblett cost us today? In a tight game, more than I'd have liked. Put Littleton (eventually maybe Jonah) back there and turn a weakness into a strength.

This is an important point. The special teams looked very improved across the board but Niblett was horrid and his complete failure to even attemptto field a punt cost the Horns tons of important field position.

This wasn't a game plan thing. The throws were there. Maybe Sark gets in their head and makes them fuck up simple fucking throws. But the inability to hit a wide fucking open receiver 7 yards in front of you on a simple cross route, yeah, I'm blaming the fucking QB.

This was absolutely a game plan thing. He missed throws. That was bad. He also got put in a position to lose because he had shit play calls that didn’t play to his strengths (sound familiar) and we have zero skill talent.

Just felt like Sark slid his play calling sliders to the furthest left and basically called a 1960s offense.

Didn’t help that half of Arch’s passes were over/under thrown.

Nah it’s the reverse.  It was Misty arch and we just need to see him improve.

So you fucking approve of running 4 times up the middle in the RZ against a D that has great interior linemen?

Was that Arch's fault too?

My biggest complaint of the whole day is that Simmons was getting mugged repeatedly and no holding calls on the OSU tackles..

True. Then again, if we don't grab facemasks twice in key situations, we likely win.

0-2 in red zone.  50 yards of penalties.  The difference in the game was the 7 points off turnover.  We lost a shit ton of talent in the draft.

It's dumb to schedule a road game like that for Game 1 anyway.

The world isn't on fire (well, it is... but not because of this) and they have 3 games to find a rhythm.

Gonna take the dogs out a little later and touch some grass.  And I don't need to watch another snap of football today.

Does anyone miss Quinn yet?

No, because the last time we saw him he was horrible too. With 3 years of starting experience.

I think your old brain is getting demented. You say some really stupid shit

1) I hate this, but I'd rather lose this one than a conference game.
2) Arch didn't play well enough to win a game like this
3) D is salty and should be fine, but I'd like to see more pressure on the QB.
4) Wisner is better than Baxter in traffic
5) OL looks solid enough.
6) WR appears to be our weakest position group, but I'm curious why they didn't seem to have good footing.
7) We were in a position to win, and Arch was the weak spot today. Lots to work on.

Except for Turnovers, Tome of Possession Penalties, and of course  1-4 in 4th downs. Brutal way to lose. Maybe Field Goals should be  accepted as our go to 4th down play...

I think it's really hard to interpret stats for a game like this.  Ohio State had a lead for most of the game, and a 2 score lead for much of the game, and they have a RS Freshman QB playing against one of the best defenses in college football.  It's hard to imagine that Day called all of the same plays that he would have called if Texas was ahead by a score, or the game were tied, and I just don't see how a reasonable person could claim they know how that would have gone.  It could have meant that Sayin wound up throwing 2 interceptions and taking a couple of bad sacks and Texas blows OSU out; but it could also have resulted in Sayin hitting a wheel route and a bomb where a receiver had a couple of steps and he winds up throwing for 280 yards and the total yardage difference is reversed.  But I think it's very, very unlikely that OSU's offensive stats would have been the same if they had an experienced QB or if they weren't playing with a lead almost the whole game.

Play calling had absolutely nothing to do with that shit show Arch produced today.

He had all day in the pocket and couldn’t hit shit.

He better get better quick.

Lacey can play.

Holy shit.  Can u imagine the drama if Arch got benched for Lacey?  Jerry Jones would be proud.

OK, pillow talk time:

Arch is horrendously bad (currently), but our defense is still good. I don't know if Arch will continue this or if he'll improve leaps and bounds (which sounds like a lot, but keep in mind how terrible he was, so leaps and bounds just means 3 TD's), but Sark has failed as an OC thus far.

At what point should he look in the mirror and realize he's absolutely shitty in the RZ? Kidnapped children forced to watch aggie games in a bunker in Pakistan can see he sucks 20 yards from the endzone. This dude has to hire someone who can actually call plays to the team's strength (whatever that is at this point). He simply cannot do both. We're 5 seasons into his regime and he just can't do it.

Sarks Jekyll and Hyde play calling is tiresome. Arch didn’t play great but he’s not the reason we lost. Lots of time to improve.

Yes, he is. It isn't that he didn't play great. It isn't that he didn't play good. Mediocre play would have won us this game. He was flat terrible. He couldn't hit anything. Wide receivers were open on simple routes and he couldn't get the ball anywhere near them. He'll get better. He has to. But this game is on him. And that performance was only slightly above Card against Arkansas, and that's just because at least Arch never looked like was shitting himself scarred. He seemed relatively calm. His mechanics were just betraying him.

That’s not why they lost the game.

im not giving sark a pass. He auckef in the red zone again. Said so when the play happens.

if arch was more accurate they don’t even need those 4th down calls imo

I wonder why their DB"s have been so good?  patricia will NFL them.  just grab and make them call it.   we get called for a DPI/holding early but zip on OSU.

SEC has been a grab and hold defense sense Saban started running the SEC, the all world receiver for OSU got a call from the SEC refs, no one else got one, pretty predictable

We do have 2 elite lines. That will carry you a long way.

But this looks like an unfinished project that needs work on offense. Lot of rough edges and paint blemishes to sand down. But you can see the makings of a great team if development happens over the season.

You're wrong. You're blind. First pass of the game should have been an explosive. Moore was wide open. Arch threw it in the dirt. Penultimate pass of the game was an easy crosser that may score a TD and tie the game. Arch throws a fast ball high and behind Wingo. He did that all game. I promise you if you just go watch every throw divorced from the game, you'll realize how fucking atrocious he really was. Middle school QBs could have done a better job.  There is no game plan that fixes that. Arch just has to play better. And he knows it.

How the fuck is it that Baxter is the best RB we have? or at least how the fuck is it that it took a half and two fucking years for Sark to realize that Wisner is a better fucking RB?

Baxter had some success in this game and provides a change of pace. His carries may also have been deliberately limited out of caution to avoid overstressing his knee ligaments. A single early game isn't a basis to make such a ruling.

I’ll disagree and say the reverse.  Arch lost is the game. Sark didn’t help them win with bad red zone play calling.

if the QB is better they win, even with the poor play calling.

we saw easy throws and schemes to help arch. And he didn’t make the throws.

we gotta hope arch gets better. Full stop.

This is what gets lost in the noise of hype.

Our defense can win a national championship if Steve Sarkisian and Arch can manage the offense.

Big if.
