This was Clark’s first college game after an achillies behind what appears to be a fucking dog shit o line.  So I’m reserving judgement.

We are desperate to see a RB take a three or four yard run and turn it into a 15 or 20 yard one. Good RBs do that all the time, and we haven't seen anything like that. Three yard runs stop at three yards. Five yard runs stop at five.

My concerns:

  1. No identity
  2. No discipline
  3. No leadership
  4. No swagger
  5. No run game

Subtract Arch's long scrambles and those YPR are even worse.

Subtract our touchdowns and we lose….

We have no running game, outside of Arch scrambling when plays break down. That's not good enough for conference play.

we need to target endries more. Wingo is only going to get touches on reverses. So do that more

He gets touches elsewhere, he just doesn’t catch it when he touches it

I think the only concerns are that Clark sucks and Gibson fumbles.

Almost 5 yards per carry without your #1 back is just fine.  When it's Wisner and Baxter getting all the carries, supplemented by Arch, our running game should be strong to quite strong.  I think there's even an argument to be made that we should be a run-first offense.

It is vs San Jose State. The gave up 263 and 4.7 to Central Michigan. They wore them down late in the game to make it look better. You would like the run game to be dominant vs cupcakes

I am of the opinion that Sark wanted to get Arch on track and stuck with tons of downfield passing.

we have our starting RB on the sideline and RB 2 and 3 both a year or so out from major injuries.  They’ll improve as the season goes on.

Unfortunately Baxter doesn’t look like he did last year.

Clark didn’t do much

Gibson Is the only one that looked like he had some burst and only played garbage time

i donno wtf sark/Flood are doing but it ain’t working.

That’s because they are getting hit 2 yards behind the LOs lol

If we were getting five yards on plays where our RBs were getting hit two yards in the backfield, that would be pretty amazing.

None of that changes anything I just said.

RB1 was out, and RB2 is coming back from injury.  RB3 had 3.0 ypc, dragging down the average to just under 5.0.

The running game is not the liability you keep saying it is.

I see a QB that has inconsistent mechanics, WRs that lose focus and drop passes, RBs that consistently get hit behind the line because offensive linemen are getting beat from the snap, and 3X and now 4X the penalties of our opponents…so yes, coaching. If it’s one thing out of sync, it could be the player learning. When everyone seems to be out of sync, it falls on the coaches. I’m not saying it can’t be fixed, but I wouldn’t say our guys have been locked in so far this season.

That's the number one goal of the run game.  You don't get to use it as some sort of exception when it's exactly what the whole point is.

If you end up wearing down Georgia in the 4Q to pad the average, I’ll be very happy. I don’t think Texas OL should rely on that vs SJSU. It about the level of competition

I had a bad feeling about Wingo this offseason from the practice reports talking about getting him the ball on reverses. If you can read between the lines at all the reports were saying "we're gonna have to call reverses to get the ball in this guys hand.

He's presumably being paid to be a #1 WR, not a gadget player. Imagine offseason stories about Worthy "working on his reverses". He doesn't need to "work on" reverses you just run the damn ball when they call the play.

I'm less inclined to call the OL dog shit. They did a good job of pass protection in both games, with a couple of clear bad plays. On rushing, we're getting about 5 ypc between this game on OSU. That's respectable given the opponents and injuries. I lean a lot more toward vanilla ass rushing plan than on the OL. Yes, there's room for improvement, particularly penalties, but that and the shit, no misdirection run game is a huge part as well.

Not getting any easy explosives. Like to see more playing making out of the skill players. Turn 5-10 into 40-50

Wasn't he one of the idiots that swore and yelled all season long that Ewers was the main problem holding the offense back? Seems like he's quite the football expert.

I've calmed down since yesterday, but after that offensive performance I'm way more worried about Gainesville than I was previously. And after 2 blowout losses in 3 years, you can bet your ass Venables is probably going all in on Dallas this year.

Nothing wrong with you saying it because theres an awfull lot of Gator fear on this site. Unwarranted. ousux in Big D is always a weird game. Let’s kick their asses.

Don’t fucking do this.  This is your damn thread.  You make the Kool-Aid for all of us when we need a hit. So tonight have a couple of drinks, take your wife to the sex tent and get your mind right for the rest of the season.

I just fucking wish we had a dominant run game... that would elevate Arch's game significantly and take a ton of pressure off of him

I think 12 personnel is the way.  Wingo/Parker + Endries/eventually Townsend.   This should also help with the run game.

That's crazy that Manning had 5 total touchdowns today but somehow our offense only scored 17 points. Great post, man.

Manning must have lost 18 on style points because he sucks so bad.

Maybe we should just stipulate that we're all idiots.

Brings more defenders into the box to defend against the run.

Forced 4 turnovers and could only muster 38 points.

It was only +1, a roughing the punter is a turnover even though it isn't counted as one.

I certainly have a lot of concerns too. Simmons needs to be benched against the cupcakes until he can prove he can play without committing stupid penalties. And, penalties 😬, roughing the punter will cost Texas a game. The OL can't run block worth a shit. Clark just didn't show any talent, and even coming back from the injury he should look better than Kyle F'ing Porter. Gibson looks like the most talented back, but can't hold on to the ball. Although I don't know why Sark didn't give Shipley a chance to make a long FG.

I agree running a 12 may be best, most talent at TE, even if Moore doesn't miss any games. But Texas isn't running the ball against blowu unless the OL improves significantly.

And finally, that Livingstone guy needs to be benched. Can't even outrun a bunch of slow 4.8 DB's from the MWC.

Our offense line is one massive concern that would make this team drastically more potent, if it was fixable

The offensive line is by far the worst unit on the team and outside of QB development that should concern everyone. San Jose St won the battle at the line. San Jose Mother Fucking St.

We seem to want to do all this NFL like under center run game stuff with Arch and I just don’t know how much longer we can keep it up.

Arch looks most comfortable when things are spread out and he is able to freelance a bit. This OL also seems more comfortable in pass pro. But with our receiver situation I’m not sure how effective that would be against SEC opponents.

As Rod Babers says, football is a constant battle between what you want to be and what you need to be in order to survive. We have 3 more weeks to figure out what we need to be.

Homer was going off on the Sark offense. He is saying it is unnecessarily complicated. Lot of offenses do really simple stuff in college at a high level. Everything is progression reads and the WRs are doing their own reads.  We went from 3-5 screens a drive to 3-5 a game.  He was using example like if the CBs are off just run simple hitches to get 4-6 easy yards.

Pass pro was good enough, but run block was an issue.

Does Ohio State DL suck ass?  I don't get it.
