Jeeze, my soju has an ABV of 12%, 20 if I pay more for the good stuff. Those jack mormons need to learn how to do it right.

I did. I'm not sure how I did myself any favors though. Still, far from the worst thing I clicked on this week.

Just saw NBC reporting on the messages on the bullets.  Zero potential connection or discussion on the groyper angle.

Didn't NBC just fire a reporter yesterday? They are faced with the  "nice little network you have there. shame if anything happened to it." mafia chat from the power holders.

CNN the same it’s fucking infuriating - the dispute between Fuentes and Kirk - all of it. Unbelievable.

Not really sold on the Groyper angle yet either, but I think the angle is that he might have some Boogaloo Bois accelerationist tendencies - i.e., he was happy to frame it as someone on the left to enflame the already intense divide between the left and the right.  Who the fuck knows, though.

He was a Groyper. He spent all his time playing video games. The engraving on the bullets was from the Helldivers 2 video game which is like a Starship Troopers satire of fascism as a first person shooter game against giant bugs. He dressed up as the Pepe frog for Halloween in 2018. Not sure if his Trump costume was pro or anti Trump though. Kid lost his soul to the Internet and online gaming.

The Associated Press per their usual method of reporting simply states the inscriptions and has very little commentary other than quotes from officials, etc.

Given the takeover of PBS, etc mainstream news, and specifically television news is pretty much gonna roll over into regime reports; plus advertisers are likely still figuring out how to roll with this.

I keep reading rumors that the bullets contained "trans ideology."

Can someone tell me what that even is?

Mfg inscriptions had the word Tran or something like  that on the bottom of the bullet. It was a major stretch. At least that’s what I saw.

Just a bunch of bullshit. Those reports were out before the casings would even have been picked up of the ground/roof.

  • The claim circulated after The Wall Street Journal reported that a bulletin making this claim allegedly circulated within the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Some users online claimed officials had misinterpreted "TRN," an engraving found on ammunition produced by Turan Ammunition, a Turkish company, as "transgender ideology."

Maybe I'm missing your point, or you mine.

What you say is clearly true - and has been throughout history.  Without the veneer of "societal norms" this is who we are as a species.

That said, our goal should be for insults to be met with insults.  Rhetoric with rhetoric.  I'm guilty of wishing bad things on bad people but to explain away political violence as he got what was coming to him doesn't address our greater need to be above that in order to continue functioning.

Violence begets violence.  Would it not have been a greater victory to beat him in a war of words?  Now he is lionized (even more).  I don't see a W here.

Violence almost always starts with words. We shouldn't strive to stop answering words with violence, we should strive to not use inflammatory words. Root cause.

Meh, I'm okay with the media taking time to make sure they have their ducks in row about a world they are completely unfamiliar with (strangely because we sure do get a lot of shooters who come from that world).

Yeah, I saw something about there being a manufacturer's mark that was misidentified as a trans symbol.

But what I mean is, what even is "trans ideology"?  They're all throwing this term around as if they know what it means, and I don't think they do.

Are they insinuating that trans people are trying to teach transsexuality in schools, or put it into our laws, or convert people?  No, that's Christians.

Is it that they want to have basic human rights and not get thrown off of buildings like this is fucking Iran?  Because that seems like a pretty reasonable request.

What exactly is this "trans ideology" threat, and why should I be afraid of it?

Trans Ideology

The Gay Agenda

CRT

Woke

Litter boxes in schools

It's all just dog whistle bullshit. Ask any of them what it means and they can't tell you...or they'll get it totally wrong.

I saw that explanation floated, but was there ever any confirmation that the mfr inscription was what they were referring to?  I was thinking it might have been a mischaracterization of the "Notices Bulge" thing, which apparently has some links to Furry culture - see https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/notices-bulge-owo-whats-this.

The Verge did an okay job recapping the theories behind the inscriptions:

Honestly, all of this may have been trolling, but it does seem like dude may have been spending way too much time online, which is pretty dangerous for young men these days. I haven't heard much about young men being radicalized to the left online, but I'm sure that's the way Kash and co are likely to try to paint this.

Trans ideology is the belief that trans people are ok and can lead normal lives with a little help and space. You know, the opposite of what they believe.

Got it.  I saw that too with the theory - it just wasn't clear to me that it was one of the actual recovered bullets.

The young lefties all know Bella Ciao for some reason, especially DSA types. There’s a heavy Austin DSA overlap with Los Verdes and La Murga has a song set to the tune of Bella Ciao.

Latinos across the country know Bella ciao, if it’s the same song from that Netflix crime drama that Becky G covered.

I don’t know if it was legit or not. Just saw a pic of “a” bullet.

So, uhh, anyone know if there's an OnlyFans showing Johnny Sack's live reactions right now after his meltdown about being the only decent man surrounded by sickos and subsequent eject...because he was starting to put together that the shooter's demographic wasn't going to incite the war against liberals he wanted?

Asking for me. I'm asking for me.

Maybe his dad took him camping or something.

Right, that's what it means to trans people.

But what does it mean to those Republicans who keep bandying it about as if it's part of the common parlance?  I don't think any of them can answer this question, which does not stop them from being 100% sure that it's bad and must be stopped.

This is a gigantic problem, that this heavily armed mob can be so easily told what to do and whom to target.  It's not much of a leap to the black ideology, the atheist ideology, the foreigner ideology, the everybody but them ideology.

^^^ to the TRN and the memes^^^ Perhaps its both (stories in the news), given how unaware most of the over 30 crowd is when it comes to memes, games, darkweb communities, and so on. For example, how many adults knew who Andrew Tate was and what his comments etc were prior to his later fleeing and subsequent return? I could see how Crowder (closer to 40 and mostly active in streaming not gaming etc) and many other media types would make mistakes or depending upon their viewpoint slant stories a certain way. If the media were more reliable, as facts were revealed, we could learn. However I am less optimistic these days.

The opposite of that like I said. Trans ideology to them is promoting the fiction that  there is more than two genders and that genders can be what you want and aren’t immutable at birth. Trans ideology is promoting the belief that chemical castration is  a legitimate medical procedure, and the medical establishment is taking care of kids when in reality  for profit medical grifters are trying to fill clinics with kids who are just being kids.

now let me go wash my mouth out with soap and drink a bottle of bleach

CNN is unbelievable they are talking as if the kid was a liberal.

CNN was run by Jeff Zucker from 2013-2022. He came over from NBC, where he rose up the ranks thanks to the big ratings of his pet project, The Apprentice.

CNN is The Donald Trump show
