I'm the one who brought it up, and I'm certainly not trying to deflect. I'm pointing out that *if* he was wearing body armor, it's possible that he's been threatened before. If so, could his wearing it be chronologically tied to an event or series of events, such as an organized effort to do "war" with him? Or was there something else. It's possibly a red herring, but my intent was not to distract.

Wasn't directing that at you per se, just to be clear.

Thats how you know it doesn't fit the narrative they want.

The Utah Gov was on Meet the Press yesterday and said he'd be charged on Tuesday and more info would be released then.

The part that really sticks out to me is that the report at the time he was identified said that the FBI had spoken to the dad and to the roommate, and that the roommate showed the FBI the Discord server that showed the perp talking about the gun (or something to that effect). If the roommate was trans and a romantic partner to the shooter, and the motiviation was in support of the trans lover/roommate, why would that person cooperate with the FBI to get him caught? Why didn't the initial report indicate this pretty key peice of evidence re motive? It really does not add up, at all, especially since it's obvious what the administration would prefer with respect to motive. If they had evidence of this connection, the FBI would have had a full dog and pony show about it by now.

If he is in fact cooperating it's so he doesn't get charged as an accessory.

Way to not answer the question. Do you think trans people are bad? Do you think trans ideology (whatever the fuck that is) is to blame? If not, then who gives a flying fuck if the roommate is trans? I think you know this whole story is bullshit. Dude was pissed off internet troll and did some real-life trolling. That is all there is to his motive.

He might be an internet troll/groyper or he might have been motivated by something else like defending his transitioning boyfriend by murdering someone that said being trans was a mental illness.  We don't know yet, regardless of some people on this website want to definitively assign motive without knowing.

ah yes, its people on this website who are the problem. Not our elected officials with access to major media platforms.

it's a really interesting parallel - Kirk and "their" favored "debate" style is to stake out an unsupported position and challenge all comers to "prove me wrong". Similarly, our elected officals are staking out their unsupported position of it being "LeFtIsT vIoLeNcE" and challening everyone to prove them wrong - and any counter-assertion is literally being prosecuted both socially and criminally

We are discussing it here.  There are 2 competing threads.  One thread desperately wants his motive to be 'trans adjacent' and one has changed the name of it's title to fit their narrative.  We don't know yet.

Like, the fucking Vice President of the United States just went onto Kirk's platform to threaten anyone making light of his death, under the the guise of "promoting violence"

They're going to magically recreate a very left wing manifesto, is what this is. "We recovered it from his computer!"

So would universal health care, an unbiased not-for-profit news mechanism, laws against spreading misinformation, and a livable wage, oh, and gun control laws. But we aren't interested in those things.

From the Washington Post:

The 22-year-old suspect in Charlie Kirk’s killing appears to have confessed to friends in an online chat shortly before turning himself in to law enforcement, according to two people familiar with the chat and screenshots obtained by The Washington Post.

“Hey guys, I have bad news for you all,” said a message from an account belonging to the suspect, Tyler Robinson, on the online platform Discord. “It was me at UVU yesterday. im sorry for all of this.”

The message was sent Thursday night, about two hours before officials said Robinson was taken into custody.

A member of the group chat shared an image of the conversation with The Post and confirmed that it came from Robinson’s account. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect their privacy and out of fear of harassment.

Discord provided a copy of the message with the confession to authorities, according to a person familiar with the company’s interaction with law enforcement. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss details of the investigation.

The message was sent from Robinson’s account to a small private group of online friends, the person said. Discord is working closely with the FBI and local authorities, providing information about Robinson’s online activities on the platform, the person added.

Discord has said that an internal investigation found “no evidence that the suspect planned this incident or promoted violence on Discord.”

The Utah County Sheriff’s Office referred The Post to the Utah Department of Public Safety, which did not respond to a request for comment. Spokespeople for the Utah DPS as well as for the FBI and the Department of Justice declined to comment.

Robinson was arrested last week after a 33-hour manhunt, accused of fatally shooting one of the country’s most prominent conservative activists at a Utah Valley University event. Authorities have said one of Robinson’s family members reached out to a friend who then contacted law enforcement, saying Robinson had confessed or implied that he committed the crime.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R) said over the weekend that Robinson’s motive is still under investigation but that the suspect appears to have held a “leftist ideology.” Officials say their interviews indicate that Robinson became “more political” in recent years and had criticized Kirk.

The Discord conversation shared with The Post shows members of the group chat reacting to Kirk’s shooting last Wednesday — before the news broke that Robinson was allegedly involved. The group included about 30 people, according to the person who provided screenshots.

“Charlie Kirk got shot,” one friend wrote Wednesday afternoon, according to an image of the messages.

“I just saw the video holy s---,” another user wrote about an hour and a half later, adding of Kirk: “Bro didn’t deserve to go out like that sad.”

The only response from Robinson’s account came the next day with the message announcing “bad news.”

“im surrendering through a sheriff friend in a few moments,” the message, posted at 7:57 p.m. local time in Utah, continued. “thanks for all the good times and laughs, you’ve all been so amazing, thank you all for everything.”

Robinson was taken into custody at 10 p.m. that night, according to FBI Director Kash Patel.

No one responded to Robinson that night, according to the screenshots obtained by The Post. But the next day, one friend wrote that the apparent confession seemed to be true. The friend asked group members to “pray for Tyler and his repentance” and then turned to Kirk.

“While Charlie Kirk’s politics were not acceptable to some I ask that we all say a prayer for him and his family during these confusing times,” the friend added.

The New York Times reported on a conversation in a different Discord chat group earlier the same day. In that conversation, Robinson joked that a “doppelgänger” was trying to get him in trouble after law enforcement released images of a shooting suspect who resembled Robinson. Cox confirmed the existence of that conversation on Sunday and said Robinson’s friends “did not believe it was actually him” at that point. The person who provided other Discord messages to The Post said they are from a different group.

"pray for his repentance" is something I hear """leftists""" saying all the time, now that you mention it... The President and Vice President were right, it's all leftist violence

I'm going to imagine that's a group of Mormon kids he went to high school with and kept it touch with after graduation. He's probably in multiple Discord groups including the one where he was joking about his doppleganger being the person the images were of after he allegedly shot Kirk.

For those still ignoring the obvious:

President Donald Trump said he "couldn't care less" when asked by Fox News how he would make America "come back together".

Neither side thinks the either is worth a flip. In a society where it's common to go no-contact with your family, why not with people you don't know but only share a flag with?

this is why I love Texas.   We can argue and hate each other for what we think - but we will be there on Saturday to watch the game.

Sunday, we will be doing other stuff.

Monday, back to work.   Eventually, we will get it right and then Nicole will take us paddle boarding and kill us all.

the end?
