I would say go with Lacey and prepare for the next few seasons. We will obviously have growing pains but maybe he will be able to at least complete simple routes on time and make the easy throw.

Let Arch portal and Sark hire a offensive play caller, fire Milwee and Flood.

I wouldn't throw Lacey into this hot mess. Caldwell is the perfect guy to throw in there. He is experienced and experienced on undertalented teams so our shitty OL shouldn't rattle him.

I would go into the SHSU game with a plan, communicated to the QBs that Manning will start and get two drives then Caldwell will go in. After that it's based on who plays better. Two QB systems can suck and as they say if you have two then you don't have one. But guess what? We already don't have one right now.

Imagine throwing a true freshman out there with this oline, this run game, and these WRs. Great way to ruin him forever

Also, we genuinely need a poll about why Connor Stroh is playing. I know QBs are important and get more attention but Stroh is actually providing negative value. WTF is Flood doing?

Let's not lose sight of the other terrible football we're putting out there.

I'm not lowering myself to responding to a poll like this but I will say that this shit isn't going to age well. "Chiles should starts" is a meme for a reason.

He simply must have a leash at this point. It’s doing the team and him no good to keep him out there playing like dog poo. Maybe that’s what it will take to  change something. We gotta fucking try something…

Yep. I wish Arch was the only problem with this trainwreck of an offense lol.

I’d be shocked if he’s benched before we start losing games by a lot but he’s truly terrible. I haven’t seen a QB all day I wouldn’t take over him.

I thought coming into the year that this would be a relative rebuilding year with growing pains on the offensive line and a down year at receiver. I thought the defense would be elite, and that Arch would be pretty good but held back by a developing supporting cast.

Holy fucking shit!! This offense is fundamentally broken. I’m expecting 4-5 losses.

Why is responding to a poll asking about possibly replacing a QB who was 11/25 for 100-odd yards against UTEP "lowering yourself"?

Is it it because you want him to be great? Is it because of his last name and recruiting ranking? And keep in mind I've been defending Chris Simms for 25 years now because he was way better than given credit for by our dumber fans so I have no bias against highly rated players with famous last names. But you are what you show you are.

If his name was Arch Smith or some shit, his ass would be sitting on the bench.

I'm starting to think he'd never have been named the starter in the first place. He might not even be at Texas.

Because the idea that he should be benched is insane. He needs live reps and experience. So do most of the guys around him on offense.

He does so much shit that is hard to teach or develop extremely well. He does not self sack. He does not fumble the ball. He does not throw picks in dangerous situations. He doesn't throw into a lot of bad reads. He runs the ball like an animal.

I have seen him hit the throws that he misses. He just isn't hitting all of them right now. He looks inexperienced and jumpy and like he is under a ton of pressure.

What helps with that is starts. Games. Reps. More routes run by his receivers. More handoffs. More PAs. More RPOs. More shitty passes, frankly. More adversity. Maybe a couple more losses.

Can we address that his OL is a mess at times? That he was missing his #1 and #2 back all game today? That Moore didn't play today?

The entire O is a work in progress. It isn't like we are dropping Arch into what we had rolling last season.

But it's really fucking easy to just blame the highly-touted QB that everyone had outsized expectations for coming into the season. Who just started his 5th game ever.

This may truly be one of the most epic failures of a ranked team in modern history if Arch can’t recover. I don’t see Sark admitting his failure as a QB coach. Could very well be a 5 loss team I’m afraid. If Arch doesn’t magically get better

I'd rotate him with someone else for a while and see if that helps with his nerves or whatever this problem is.  His mechanics and accuracy are a huge problem.  The sidearm throws are pissing me off; like he's emulating Patrick Mahomes.  But Mahomes was a shortstop so he can throw around people, but it ain't working for Arch.  If we don't have someone on the staff who can fix that, he's toast.

No idea who our #2 guy is, but I voted for Cauldwell.

One more thing, and then I'm done for the night because QB discussion on here is a beating.

Arch signed up to play for Texas. He always wanted to play here. Well - now you're here, kid. This is what it is. It's immense pressure and it isn't always fair and the media is going to be on your ass and the entire thing is more often than not going to be a shitshow.

So fucking figure it out. This is what you wanted so now go do it. Drag us out of the desert again. Look up at that #10 in the stadium and that last national championship.

I believe in you.

You may have not hit puberty in 2010. I feel bad for you that you are about to experience that season as an adult.

Nearly the whole board was convinced that Arch was better than Quinn last year, despite barely seeing him play against inferior competition.  And now that same group is supposed to have a valid opinion on who should succeed Arch despite never having seen any of them throw a pass at this level? What's the point? Who gives a shit who's gonna succeed him? Nobody knows shit about fuck?

You said he does things that are hard to teach then listed 5 things, 3 of which are extremely easy to teach. You have answered my question, you are resistant to discussion on his playing time because you want him to be great.

You should go back and view the board during the '23 season when everyone was freaking out every week and we wound up 1 play away from playing for a national championship.

I bet you would never guess which prominent poster's message that season was to just stay alive and keep winning and see what happens.

Wrong. I think he is going to be great. You can disagree. That's fine.

We'll see what happens. There isn't much more to discuss at this point. If you want to see Matthew Caldwell take 60 snaps against SHSU that's your problem.

Why do people keep throwing the WR under the bus hell they may be phenomenal we don’t know because Arch can’t get the ball close to them.
