Mateer is careless with the ball.  I hope that if he does start, he is amped to the moon and does some stupid stuff.  Frankly, it's not like Hawkins doesn't run.  He had 20 carries last year vs us.  6 of them were sacks, but the other 14 were some form of a true running attempt (planned or scramble).

Reality is Mateer’s ability doesn’t scare me relative to good starters at QB OU has had in the past decade.

His IT factor though is a force; He is a leader no doubt.

I think this is more of an indication of how bad Hawkins sucks, and less about Mateer actually getting close to 100%. Let’s fuck him up.

we've lost by more than 1 score 2 times in the last 3 years and this OU team isn't like the teams that did that.  IMO, this is going to be a one score game.

Fuck me I hate this stupid fucking week and cheering for this football team. I'm like 2 hours away from being an absolute nervous wreck until kickoff.

Why does this one THIS YEAR have to matter so much. God dammit.

Arch I need you to hit us with some Luke Skywalker shit Saturday and fuck these guys up.

What? Texas literally has NOTHING to lose. They've already been written off for the remainder of the season: not gonna make the playoff or the SEC title game and people are saying 8 wins is the ceiling. Time to prove the world wrong again. This is the game where they'll come out swinging and pull out every trick play they have because like I've said multiple times, they literally have nothing to lose, only something to gain(retaining the Golden Hat).

Ah my old stomping grounds. I used to work the concessions for sometimes this game and the Cotton Bowl game when it was still played there. In fact, the concession under the OU part of the scoreboard is the one I always worked as a kid so I could see the game(bits and pieces).

20 years ago, remember when GD Greg Davis was named Offensive Coordinator of the year? Give the award to Vince. His athleticism and play making abilities are what made GDGD look good.

Hahahahaha. OU is gonna score 45 now? The amount of pussies in here is mind bottling.. we should have a poll that if you predict crazy pussy shit like this you get a timeout from posting for 14 days.

I can’t remember being less nervous before an OU game.  My expectations for this offense are so low that reaching double figures would represent an incredible achievement for this group.  Double digit sacks for OU are more likely than double digit points for the Texas offense.

Hopefully the defense shows some resolve and keeps it reasonably close.  Our best opportunity is knocking Mateer out of the game and winning a low scoring game in which we benefit from turnovers more than OU. Otherwise, prepare for a pathetic and helpless blank stare from Sark throughout much of the second half and threads next week debating whether Sark has delivered the worst offseason coaching performance in Texas history.

I hope that this Texas team has a bulletin board up featuring all of the spineless-fucking pablum that has come out of here and everywhere else on the internet this season from this embarassing fucking fanbase. Every Texas fan that thinks "Arch sucks" memes are funny, every Texas fan comparing this season to 2010 or Arch to Garrett Giblert, every Texas fan wanting Sark gone or thinking he isn't the guy.

I watched this team for 13 fucking seasons from 2010-2022 not know their own dicks from a doorknob and repeatedly, consistently lose shitty game after shitty game over and over and over again. I watched OU dogwalk our shitty program repeatedly for two decades.

Texas finally has an ounce of sustained success and a coach that fucking gets it and yet all it takes is losing two tough road games and facing some actual adversity and potentially having to rebuild and all of a sudden the program is back to 2010 levels? Why? Because a bunch of you are fucking stupid and can't get your heads out of your asses to assess the situation appropriately? Or because you're lazy and don't attempt to engage in good-faith discussions when it comes to Texas and college football as a whole in 2025?

This team is stacked to the fucking gills and they have a pimp in the making playing QB. I don't know if they figure it out this season or not but if I am anyone else contending for a national title I really, really hope that it doesn’t click for this Texas team down the stretch.

Let's start by walking into Dallas and fucking this stupid, overrated OU team up the ass for the 3rd time in 4 years and then let's go from there.

This will end poorly for them, I think they are rushing him back because they know Hawkins is ass. I cant wait to destroy Mateer. He is very average.

Why the edit?  Something wrong with the original word choice?

What’s sad about the robison/bomar play is that nowadays it would have taken us a minute to pick up the ball and then determine which way to run. Rod picked that thing up in a second and was off. I dk how footballs bouncing our way or picking up fumbles changed but damn do I miss all of the takeaway opportunities we used to create and then actually..got the ball and didn’t drop it.

Felt way more on edge about the 2023 and 2024 games.

Feels completely different this year for me. Hoping it ends up like 2013 or 2015 where we were completely written off yet ended shoving it up their asses.

Texas - 23

OU - 13

I just think this team spent the off-season smelling their own farts and being told how awesome they are and how this is the year for a national championship.

Not saying they didn't work hard, but they don't have the edge that they played with last year. I think the SEC run they had last year has made them soft.

I just don't think anyone has stepped up and really been a dog on either side of the ball. They are all looking around for a leader and no one has taken on that mantle.

This is just a disappointing team across the board. Not fun to watch, no enthusiasm, no swagger.

I will be watching Sat and cheering team on but jeez are they not a lot of fun to watch this season.

The team that has won the rushed for more yards has won 25 of the last 28.

We doubled Ohio State's rushing yards and still found a way to lose that game. Sark's red zone pay calling can pull defeat from the jaws of victory under pretty much any circumstance.

Mateer forcing himself to play will actually help Texas. But id be shocked if he did actually play and even more shocked if he played well for 4 qtrs.

Didn’t lagway limp around for 4 quarters?

The good thing it’s his hand, so should mess with his throwing and they aren’t good running the ball so we have that going for us.

I remember how shocking it was to learn that Adrian Peterson made a miraculous comeback from his ankle injury. Through sheer will and personal awesomeness, he healed his leg!

Then I watched him take pitch after pitch and casually jog out of bounds for a quarter and a half. He couldn't cut upfield if you gave him a moped.

LA Monroe, TN Martin, Utah State and Liberty all outgained Texas vs. UTEP.  Plenty of evidence outside of Ohio State and Florida that this offense is completely broken.  Sark’s weaknesses as a play caller combined with a historically terrible OL, a mediocre and gimpy RB room and a mentally fragile QB is not a recipe for success in the Cotton Bowl.

Your premise is wrong.  Auburn is not a bad team for one.  Second, Auburn's WR are very good.  We wanted Eric SIngleton and Cam Coleman would being playing here.

Agreed, Auburn's receivers are really good.  The problem is that Jackson Arnold, who had some time, couldn't hit them.  He is beyond bad and he makes Auburn a bad team.  I think Arch is getting better and if he has the same amount of time that Arnold did he will make those throws.  Auburn is a below average team with the QB they trot out there every week.

I beyond hte mentally fragile QB thing. He pissed down his leg the first few games, but hard to actually watch the Florida game and say Arch is fragile. He took an absolute beating and kept getting up.

Mentally.  Continued to miss open targets, hold the ball too long and make questionable decisions.  He’s clearly physically tough and will need to be given that he is going to take an absolute pounding this week and the rest of the season and potentially his college career behind that dogshit OL that Sark and Flood have negligently assembled in front of him. Arch is probably third on the list of issues on this offense behind the OL sieve and the JAG corps at RB but he’s still an issue.

If you told me a QB would face 35 pressures and missed some throws or made a bad decision, my response would be "no shit". Tom Brady and Peyton Manning would struggle in that environment. Fans have unrealistic expectations. I saw Brooks (Film Guy) pick OU. He said 3 ints from Manning, because Texas continues to set their QBs up for failure in big games. They cannot run the ball or protect the QB. Finished off by saying the general public will make it a story about Arch failing.

Blame it on the rest of the offense then. I don’t care.  Arch is going to be under even more pressure this week than last.  It sucks for him to play behind that OL and the Mannings must be absolutely livid with Sark and Flood. If Arch somehow pulls a win in this game given the pressure he will be under, I will be the first to praise him.  The OL is so terrible that it may actually be impossible to succeed offensively even if Arch plays well.

I rewatched the first half. You guys are vastly overstating the issues on the OL. A lot of it looks like it's scheme confusion and missed assignments. When the line is doing simple shit and crashing or getting push it's fine, there is no point of attack here and their gap spacing is so fucked up they are letting dudes slip in virtually unblocked. Its not like Florida was just shedding blocks at will or getting massive penetration when engaged. They were coming in mostly untouched because the OL or blocking assignment wasn't clear. To me it looks like a non-veteran center and a line that hasn't gotten on the same page with eachother on how to give up assignments or hand them off either vocally or with hand signals etc. They are out there playing exactly the play that's called instead of working together as a unit.

You are all vastly understating the problems with the IDL, the interior Defensive line at Florida was possibly the worst I can remember watching any Texas football team, ever. Its fucking atrocious. Absolutely no push, no disruption, these guys are being put where the OL wants them to be put and are making 0 issues for Florida in the backfield or otherwise. They are fully engaged and stood up in blocks, most of the time they aren't even trying to shed or use the block to clog a lane they are just in a 1 on 1 with the guy in front of them not paying attention to anything that's going on with the play.

The EDGE play was okay, but a lot of the IDL just sucking shit makes it a lot easier for them to just seal that off. There is also a lot of designed patience or zone built in to the scheme that changed later and was significantly more effective.

Wisner needs to understand the difference in hard nosed running and the finesse long break game. Not every run is supposed to break, sometimes you just gotta run with both arms on the ball and push the fucking pile. I saw a lot of times where he's looking for something that isn't gonna develop and instead of hitting the fucking hole that hesitation is turning into a no gain short gain when someone sheds a block and makes contact with no momentum.

The problems I'm seeing are mental, except the IDL, those guys are JAG as fuck I cannot believe they didn't go harder in the portal and WTF is this coach teaching / doing
