I know we talk about how much Trump and Hegseth are just going to do batshit crazy stuff, but it's interesting how Hegseth and Trump both backed down on Mark Kelly.

Hegseth was just fucking raging about him, as was Trump.

I'm sure somebody pointed out to Hegseth that the photo was in a mirror and that he looked like a fucking idiot for claiming everything was backwards and that he should drop the topic, but they really backed the fuck off now that people are hearing more about what we were doing.

Some of this may have arisen because Hegseth may have actually talked to a lawyer that represented him.

Although Trumpco strives to find government lawyers that will represent the desires of Trump, these don't always align with the personal interests of people like Hegseth that are "just following orders."

Once they get beyond doing Trump's bidding, they may find out they're in a personal liability jackpot.

If Hegseth wasn’t stealing oxygen away from the Epstein files, he probably would have been fired by now. Trump hates to be confronted by the media over his underlings actions.

It would appear that the generalities about stateless ships are correct.

However, most nations that register ships, even flags of convenience, exempt small boats.  For example, the UK exempts vessels under 24m in length, the US "five net tons," which includes under 25 feet and a complicated displacement calculation.

As we are aware, small boats in the US are subject to state registrations.  Probably not so much in South America.  But their laws probably also provide that a small boat that "resides" in that country is a boat of that country, automatically.  So they're not "stateless ships."

If I am "Captaining" a boat that is 25 ft. long & ½ way between Lauderdale & the Bahamas (international waters start @ 12 nautical miles) PLUS my Boston Whaler doesn't have even a 12"×18" American flag (forgot / left it home... it was unsecured & bounced off, etc.) can the US Navy then rando decide to drop an unannounced missile on me "because drugs" even if I'm loaded with 12 coolers & you cannot determine if it is rum, Red Stripe, Florida Spinys, Dorado or Snapper in the Yeti's?

Well the part about sinking stateless ships is an overstatement, if not flat wrong.  Such vessels can be boarded and seized, which doesn't usually invoke sinking.  And,, your Whaler is probably state-registered, so it's not stateless.

Stateless ships usually present a different problem because the nation of registry provides the law for a lot of aspects of the crew, like wage/hour, human rights, etc.  But it is true that unregistered ships sometimes get used for nefarious purposes.

Unless the Coast Guard motors up, how can "they" determine if there is an actual registry?

You can't get that on the side of these Panga's being obliterated with a +$ 100,000⁰⁰ missile.

Yeah, routine training. I wonder what for?

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. military flew a pair of fighter jets over the Gulf of Venezuela on Tuesday in what appears to be the closest American warplanes have come to the South American country’s airspace since the start of the Trump administration’s pressure campaign.

Public flight tracking websites showed a pair of U.S. Navy F/A-18 fighter jets fly over the Gulf — a body of water bounded by Venezuela and only about 150 miles at its widest point — and spend more than 30 minutes flying over water. A U.S. defense official confirmed that a pair of jets conducted a “routine training flight” in the area.

"As you probably know, we’ve just seized a tanker on the coast of Venezuela," Trump said. "Large tanker, very large, largest one ever seized actually."

Trump did not provide details on the matter but said that it was an “interesting day.” He also hinted that more developments may unfold on the matter as “other things are happening.”

Was the oil laced with crack? I'm confused how that isn't out right piracy.

Personally, I appreciate the transparency for once. Cheney and Rumsfield would lie until they were blue in the face that it wasn't about oil. We just waylaid a fucking oil tanker for that beautiful black liquid.

Excuse. it was under sanctions. But yet we never seem to grab Iranian or Russian ships under sanction.

At least we did not blow it up causing an environmental mess.

We need a helo to go down--hopefully with everyone surviving--behind "enemy lines" to break people out of their malaise and start asking, "What the fuck is we doing?"

My wife's nephew in the army had his platoon sent for a different field medic training last week than they've done before. These had mostly stopped since the troops were pulled from the middle east occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan.

They are absolutely preparing to invade with ground troops. My wife is worried for him, his mother is scared shitless.

I remember in Christmas time of 2023 I sat outside with him at their family's holiday party. He had just graduated HS and was thinking of enlisting. He asked my advice due to my background with the military and I advised him to wait a year until after the 2024 election. Said if trump wins there's a good chance we'll be at war again soon and the military will be one of the last places he'd want to be.

He decided to risk it anyway. Good luck kid.

Anecdotal, but the training tempo around San Diego Bay and Coronado has very noticeably ticked way up. It's always pretty high with BUD/S, but I've never seen it like this. Maybe it's all just posturing, and we know there are eyeballs watching...one can hope at least.

So that was my first-ever ChatGPT creation. That was fun so I tried to make it more specific to today's events.

See, ChatGPT gets it. He's engaging in "criminal activity or wrongdoing" with this latest action off the coast of Venezuela.

Any explanation yet for why we seized the tanker?

Really hard to believe he didn't win a Nobel Peace Prize. When we start a war with Venezuela for the hell of it, so we can take their shit and kill a bunch of them, will he have to give back the made-up soccer peace prize?

When the Global Crime Syndicate divvied shit up Trump got everything south of Brooklyn.

Funny how we've never stopped one Russian oil tanker in over 5 years of sanctions. Now we're confiscating Venezuelan tankers out of the blue.

Trump announced this, and was then unable to answer any questions about how or why it happened. When asked what happens to all the oil on the tanker, he sort of shrugged and said "I guess we'll keep it."

Normal "Pentagon lawyers" didn't ask that question, not after everything they've been through with Gitmo.

That was Trump's D-team of 3rd and 4th year lawyers from Liberty and Regent U law schools.

Even the State Department was like:

The past few days he's been on some kind of bender. I'm wondering if the Ghislaine Maxwell/Epstein files that are being released on top of the DOJ files has anything to do with it.

Are we going to get $2,000 checks next week to distract us?

Question: if you murder a Nobel Peace Prize recipient, does the title get transferred to you?

I would say there is about a 35% chance that question was asked by Dotard.

That's not how this works.

Those bastards shot down one of our helicopters! Let's make up for my personal insecurity by sending the Army to kill people and blow shit up for a few weeks to make me feel better about myself.

I'M A VICARIOUS BADASS, MOTHERFUCKER!

Remember how much everybody enjoyed the first weeks of the Iraq invasion? They loved seeing "our boys" in the combat zones paying psychological prices that we largely ignore when they return.

Then they got bored when the stories were boring about what a shithole we created. But we showed them!!!
