Maybe Muschamp is better. But the D wasn’t the problem this year. No running game, receivers that can’t catch or get open, and Arch throwing the ball to dirt/air were the problem. Fix those and we’re a contender for the whole thing, even with the issues on D this year.

Ask ou and aggy what they think of our D the last two years.

Absent additional info to change my mind, this seems like a huge self awareness problem for Sark to me.

We’ll see I suppose.

I totally agree that other changes are needed, too.

But there's no reason to assume that this was it and we're done, right?

Zero reason except Sark isn’t firing the whipping boy Flood fast enough

What a surprise!  I figured Muschamp would never come back to Texas because of the rumored screwing around with the rumored HCIW designation 15 years ago (time flies when Texas football is mediocre for a decade!).  My assumption is this will resonate with the Georgia and other SEC territory commits and recruits.  Tyler Atkinson can be unleashed to his full ass kicking potential.

Our back end has not been in sync with our front under PK. He’s very conservative and great against the run, but he’s clueless as to how to tie the back to the front. Gary Patterson fixed that a little. There’s a reason he had a co-DC at Washington.

Will is the best DC in America. He was always the first choice. PK was far from the biggest problem we had, but this move makes our team better. Will will raise absolute hell with this roster. The havoc plays will explode. I understand the confusion, but this is a huge net positive.

Now fix the OL and we’re in business.

This. If we get a decent hire on OLine, we're going to fuck some people up. Crossing my fingers that happens after the bowl game and the athletic department is going all in on Arch's last year.

People have been screaming for Sark to make upgrades

Sark made an upgrade.  Now everyone hates him.  It's like recruiting over a good player for a better player via the portal.  You do what you do to make the team better.

Fans want what their team doesn't have...until they have it, at which time they want something else. It's a perpetual loop.

I'm thrilled with this hire and excited to see how it helps us take the next step up as a program.

Maybe it's hazy hindsight and optimism speaking, but I felt like Muschamp's energy infused the entire team, not just the defense.  Those 08-09 defenses were nasty.  2010 defense was pretty good, too, but had its back against the wall all season due to... reasons.

And here I was thinking it was that other side of the ball……would be really interesting to know the details

Sark saw an opportunity to turn a very good defense into a great one. And he took it. Probably as simple as that.

Hold up, yall really believe PK was “fired” because Sark thought he sucks or could do better? Lol

Pray tell us the reason. Actually am open to hear how this went down.

PK can be a great DC and very unexpected departure and Muschamp an upgrade at the same time. Just because the offense sucked doesn’t mean we can’t make improvements elsewhere. It’s ok guys.

well, a lot of the biggest complainers would have you believe the RB coaching change was the only one being made since no others were announced within 15 minutes.

I just assumed it was because PK didn’t really recruit and other coaches were having to step in and fill that role.

I'm pleased that Sark is trying to get better at all coaching positions.  the D was kinda meh in spots this year and was certainly bad against FLA.  on just a basic historical DC competency level this is an upgrade. that said, PK and not also Flood is a red flag.  we shall see.

Georgia beat us in the SEC Championship game with a back up QB dinking and dunking shit to delayed receivers out of the backfield. They did the same shit to us this year. I was yelling for PK to catch a fucking clue. With that said, I didn't think he would get fired. D was outcoached but Sark has been outcoached by Smart for the last 3 meetings. Is Sark going to fire himself as OC?

Emotionally I'm pissed at PK's "firing". His D played well enough for us to win every game, except UGA. Rationally, I'm hoping Muschamp can fix UGA outcoaching us, at least on the D side of the ball.

If Sark fixes his bullshit then this is a win win. If Sark doesn't address the O side including Oline, play calling and schemes, this is just lipstick on a pig.

Leave it to Texas fans to complain about an upgrayedd.

i reserve my right to complain until i see meaningful offensive side changes.

my only concern is that this is 'done' , and that he's got his head too far in his own farts to understand he's got larger fish to fry

Everyone is all "bUt wHat bOUt FloOd , whY sArk no fIRe!?". Now you deem this hire as proof positive that Flood won't be replaced somehow, before fucking today you didn't even consider it a possibility that PK would be gone and yet here we are. Just chill and let shit play out for once

This. I'm having the opposite reaction. First couple hires are so strong I'm pretty optimistic about the remaining ones.

Agree with this but it was also be fucking crazy if Sark replaces both “coordinators” this offseason

People are stupid and dont understand timing, they have never run a business and dont understand you cant just mass fire the staff instantly.

That's a you problem. Your concerns are not based in reality. We already have a new RB coach and DC 2 weeks before our season has even officially ended.
