Hungary is the last vote on Finland and Sweden's admission to NATO. If they don't vote yes soon, NATO  needs to reconsider Hungary's membership. Alternatively, if that can't be done, we should go conference realignment style, take everyone aside, from Hungary, and leave NATO to form a new defense pact. Add Australia, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea and call it Prestige Worldwide Treaty Organization.

Everyone would be jealous of our boats and hoes.

The Russians have openly embraced being the bad guys.  Russian TV running footage of the damage and civilians running around, and bragging about the damage they did to Ukrainian areas, how many are without power, and how they made the Ukrainians cower in their shelters.

Speaking of civilian infrastructure….

Exhibit eleventy billion in how there is no end to this without the extermination of the Putin regime.

Honestly.....I don't see how this ends without it being a total European war.  Don't mistake a possible "pause" of Russia being pushed out of Ukraine as "the end."  It doesn't end until this barbaric regime is gone.

And everyone on that TV program dangles from a rope, among many, many, many others.

And if they had the trucks (and related artillery, APCs, IFVs, and tanks) needed to move thousands of Russian troops into a fight in the north, we would have already seen those trucks working to get supplies and troops into the LPR/DPR, and Kherson areas to help those troops out from getting pushed back.

They will use Belarusian vehicles/supplies if it comes to that.

If Belarus has them, maybe.  That would put Lukashenko in a bind, though, if he has internal unrest.  And with a bunch of Belarussian volunteers fighting for Ukraine,  I bet that some of them would be willing to return home and help start some mischief.

In the North I would move every one of the C-RAMS to the outskirts of Kyiv, put Claymores in between, break out the big shotgun shells, and put Claymores on cheap drones. The rivers would run red all the way to the Black Sea. C-Rams cover everything from ground level to 5K feet.

They already have been, going back months.  And Belarus has a standing army of 60,000, with many/most dedicated to keeping him in power, with a few hundred reserves (pitifully equipped), so there won’t be much.

Ukraine has plumbing we must destroy it because the world mocks our military barracks with no plumbing and our troops for stealing toilets from Ukraine as they retreat.

The only positive thing is he said that this demonstrates they options to fight that do not include crossing the nuclear line.

So they're shipping Russian conscripts into Belarus in cattle cars?  So how are those guys supposed to get to Kyiv?  Walk?

If the Russians think human-wave assaults work in 2022, they're about to be painfully disabused of that notion.

Plus, one of the Twitter generals said the Belarussian army is the worst, or second worst, in Europe. I think it was Hertling, but I can't find it on the net.

He said they observed training exercises and the troops were utter garbage. I can't imagine their equipment is in top shape either.

The Belarussian army will be a liability if Russia tries to rely on them for much. Think Italians in WWII, but much worse.

Round two in the north? Another blood bath if so.

This is exactly why they need long range equipment.  Start striking train stations and railways full of troops.  Then just deny it as probably some old left over NAZI bombs that went off.

As sad as the attack was today, the bigger picture is how shitty Russia is at attacking with their weapons (which suck pretty bad), they couldn’t hit their targets and just shooting their load and hoping it hits.

They are used to fighting very weak opponents and hell the Afghan fighters gave them a good whopping

Pretty far inland for a Navy warehouse.  We should change all Polish jokes to Russian jokes.

As someone of partial Polish decent, this war has really shifted the narrative about the Polish people.

The Polish were always badasses.  Only stupid kids who were taught by stupid adults the NAZI propaganda thought otherwise.

Everything is a negotiation.  This is probably the most power Orban will ever have to influence the future of the world. Listen to the cocksucker and negotiate where you can.. Stroking him is less important than getting Finland and Sweden into NATO.

Fuck him but keep your eye on the prize.

Good thing Orban was a featured speaker at CPAC recently.

Belarus’s defense minister put out a strong statement saying several times they don’t want war with Ukraine, as well as Lithuania and Poland, and that as long as their territory isn’t touched, they won’t attack Ukraine.  Hard to read that, given that they are cooperating with Russia, and it sounds like they are going to be a platform for Russian shenanigans, but are trying to claim that even if the Russians do something from Belarus, that’s not a reason for Ukraine to attack Belarus.  Hard to say if they are trying to scare Ukraine into doing nothing if Russia invades again from Belarus, or if this is Lukashenko trying to pacify his own people into thinking that they aren’t joking the war, or both.

Looking around, Ukraine has been conducting exercises called “Northern Storm” for the last several weeks, not far from the Belarusian border, and it’s on a large scale - far larger than any exercises that Belarus has conducted,  anti-air, artillery, etc,   Lot of equipment supplied by the West, lot of reserve, territorial defense, and active duty troops.  These are not troops that have been plugging away in the south and east - these are a completely different group of troops.

None of the major analysts think that the Russians have enough to make a major run at Kyiv, but they can tie up some troops.

If Poland starting massing troops near border with Belarus, seems that might tie up some of their troops as well. Get them thinking about their back door.

Yes, but it would also seriously raise the risk of miscalculation and would work against our stand that NATO is not a threat to Belarus or Russia (except as an example of how to be better).

I have been really pleased with the verbal and non-verbal communications and crisis management around this all around.  Massing troops near borders is a Russia move.

Yep.  Would be viewed as a credible escalation

I’m guessing they will send them at Kyiv or Western Ukraine, and this was behind Belarus’s saying “don’t attack our territory and we won’t attack you” (but you can’t do shit about Russia attacking from our territory).  Also willing to bet that for a standing 60,000 man army, 13 train cars of ammo is a lot.  That’s how desperate Russia is, and it’s telling these are going to Russia, and not to Russian troops in Belarus - they ain’t opening a new front.

rorschach GIF

Putin too stupid to see he’s fixing Russian troops against Ukrainian reserves and territorial forces that are already stationed in northern Ukraine, rather than send those troops to eastern or southern Ukraine where they are needed.
