  • Well, that isn't really true. A lot of our guided systems use GPS coordinates get to an area, but identify a target with other sensors, including matching to an image (often IR) of the target. GPS guided munitions without alternate navigation and targeting systems are fairly easy to knock off course. Covering a plane in tires may look silly, but I could see it confusing some sensor systems, at least until they are adapted to counter the counter-measure.

Thank you, and sorry, I initially responded to the wrong comment.

I kind'a knew that. No Ding & Clark to laze the targets.

I was just channeling my inner Billy Jack, when you know its coming, "You want to know something? There's not a damn thing you're going to be able to do about it."

Ukrainian Ministry of Defense (MoD) news agency ArmyInform reported on June 5 that an unnamed NATO official stated that Russian forces are sustaining an average casualty rate of 1,140 personnel per day, of whom nearly 975 are killed in action (KIA) – a much higher number of killed than the standard one-to-three KIA-to-wounded-in-action (WIA) ratio. 2/7

Seems high, but it would be high because Russia doesn’t have the infrastructure to quickly evacuate their wounded.  The stuff we pioneered in Korea and Vietnam with helicopter evacuation and surgical hospitals has been completely lost to them.  They’ve probably got guys who spend hours before seeing even modest levels of medical care.

I don’t think they want wounded vets.

I haven't heard one peep about Russian field hospitals, or evacuating the injured one single time during this whole conflict. If you are a wounded Russian, I think you get a "tough shitski" and a bullet between the eyes.

Just a little Bondo and they’re good to go.

A Russian manned-fighter hasn’t been downed by an American-made fighter since probably Vietnam.

In 1970, Israeli Mirage IIIs and F-4s engaged a group of Soviet manned MiG-21s that were stationed in Egypt, resulting in a number of downed Soviet aircraft.  I don't know if any of the MiGs were downed by the F-4s though.

Yeah, and we shot down Soviet pilots over Vietnam.  Those are probably the last time.

Nicaragua.

And the IAF kicked some ass over Bekka Valley.

There are rumors Russians were flying for the Serbs during the Kosovo incident. We dropped anything that came off the ground from the Adriatic.

Sadly, as US citizens, we should be careful about chastising other governments treatment of vets.
I'm NOT defending Russia here, to be clear and I do agree with your point.

The core issue is that we have instigated and participated in far too many foreign wars and spend far too much on standing armies, weapons, and infrastructure over the last century. The amount we spend on veterans probably exceeds 95% of other countries total military expenditures. It’s massive.

Our support of veterans has been inadequate at times. With that being said, we have a sophisticated system in place to accommodate veteran needs.

My father was a veteran and received disability benefits. It was a pain to deal with, but he got them. My mom got surgery at BAMC.

Sadly, we probably have the most expertise in this area since among democracies we probably have more veterans than anybody.

It’s a far cry from the Russkies slapdick kelptocracy nonsystem of corrupt bullshit. They are disposable. The greatest strength of our soldiers is that they are not.

Well, true to its word, Russia showed them.

None of those apartment buildings will be able to fly glide bombs into Russia now. Prolly a 50% reduction in Ukraine’s ability to deliver Intercontinental nuclear weapons as well.

So $12 billion in bombers are waiting to be taken out by a few thousand dollars worth of drones?

so i saw on a youtube channel that the nuke bombers under the START II Treaty are required to be easily photographed from space to show Russia (and in reciprocation, US) that the other are not hiding bombers other than the times they are on a mission.

meaning the bombers cant be under cover, or in hardened shelters, they have to be visible to both sides.

interestingly enough, Putin declared the START Treaty void back in 22 when he attacked Ukraine.    so that may mean we start hiding the bombers.

because heres the deal... Ukr just showed how a group with low budget could take out Capital assets.

the vid I showed basically said that going forward, the air force will have no choice but to declare no trucks are allowed to idle or rest within at least 15 miles of a US air base without having been cleared.... thats gonna cause all kinds of security chaos forcing truckers to move just in case one of them

and it also means we have to be on the lookout of hidden drones on maritime shipping that just happens to go near Guam, Hawaii, Alaska, Diego Garcia, Marshall Islands, etc

Ukr just showed a very simple road map to take out millions of dollars of planes for pennies on the dollar.

Getting them to Diego Garcia would be a bigger trick than sending containers across Russia.

If only there were some form of sea transport for large amounts of containers

Diego Garcia is on no one’s commercial route, if you’re suggesting a container ship would just be passing by. That would raise alerts very quickly.

Maybe a narco sub kind of set up. Still, seems very unlikely.

There isn't a commercial sea lane within 1,000 miles of Diego Garcia.
