“I don’t have any doubt that Charlie is a fine coach. I think he would make a great position coach, maybe a coordinator.”

But you see Red has to be a racist. Because he’s a rich old white mail.  That means racist villain these days.

Never mind that he hired John Lucas to coach the Spurs three decades ago.  Or that Dennis Green says Red treated him like a son and Red gave him a massive extension when some wanted him fired.  Or that Randy Moss loves him.  All the asshole reporters and Texas fans who shit on Red without looking at the man’s history can go fuck right off   A bunch of those fuckers still post here   Mainly in the cloak room

Red is a racist because he thought Charlie Strong was a terrible hire.

Yeah yeah, we all know he sucks as a head coach. I’m not an “apologist” but there seems to be more anger toward Charlie than Briles and even Paterno. The anger should have been directed toward that shitty AD Patterson for hiring him pretty much on his own. Charlie isn’t bright enough to know that he was in way over his head here and now apparently at S FLA.

Because Briles and Paterno didn't sink TX football for years, and taken school money for years more.  Nobody - absolutely nobody - will argue that those fuckers aren't worse human beings.  There's as much anger at them as there is at Pinochet -- just not that relevant to our alma mater

Jimbo Fisher was a leading candidate until the Korn Ferry people came back with some glaring shit in his background that UT could not hold its nose over.

Yeah I remember Bobby Burton saying Korn Ferry were negligent for not recommending Fisher. He was really oddly passionate about it.

I'm wondering if we aren't witnessing a case study in the long term effects of sleep deprivation. Charlie always bragged about his work schedule, but the reality is, if you don't sleep enough, you end up losing brain cells. Charlie from 20 years ago sure as hell seemed smarter than Charlie today (hell, Charlie from 5 years ago was at least marginally smarter than Charlie today), 's all I'm saying.

I think he may have Algernon'd himself.

What happened to that cdt guy on Shaggy? He defended Potato till the very end, even after losing to Kansas. Blamed Patterson, Mack, racist donors, O-line, QB, and everything else.

I thought he had an anurysm after Trump got elected.

This thread is for patting ourselves on the back for firing our last HC and for chronicling his failures at USF.

It’s also the place where we ridicule those that disagreed with us.  That’s basically the whole point of the internet (well that and porn).

If Briles or Paterno had coached at UT and were complicit in endangering children and UT students by ignoring (and thus, encouraging) rape and covering for and protecting sexual predators, and our administration acted as Baylor's or Penn St's did...I'd be ashamed of the university and couldn't support it in any way. These guys are/were pure trash, possible criminals and utterly deplorable human beings. But they weren't at UT, so they are less topical on this board.

Charlie Strong was just a bad head coach. I am glad he was fired when he was, but at this point I don't hate the guy or root for the guy; I'm pretty indifferent, just glad we moved on. But Charlie Strong never made me feel ashamed of UT in any way.

Most of the Charlie apologists that shit talked us firing him did so only because the color of his skin.  They were the racists.

That’s exactly who I was referring to.  Lots of posters letting tons of shit slide because he is black.  Racists.

No.  You don’t know what racism is then, which isn’t surprising.

You have this very wrong.  Disparaging or favoring someone based solely on the color of their skin is racism.  Period.  And that’s what a lot of fans did toward the end of Charlie’s career at Texas.

Nice guys don’t fuck other peoples’ wives.  Smart guys don’t fuck the wives of men who could have them fired.

The logic tree shows me that Charlie is neither nice nor smart.

Charlie has been able to go from eating plain Cheerios in batesville, Arkansas to a millionaire with multiple college degrees so good for him for his hustle.

But maybe throttle back on the nice guy stuff.

He's terrible...won't make it to the reunion when USF comes to town next year

It really is a shame. I would really enjoy Strong traveling back to Austin to get walloped 49-0. That would be some nice catharsis for those god awful three years. 3.5 if you count the anemic OL he left Herman in 2017.

Reading comprehension. I said there seems to be more anger with shitty coach Charlie than those guys. “Seems”. I’m not going to argue with you, continue getting wasted at 8am and get ready for football.

Poor Charlie is going to get fired and still end up rich with his hot White wife on the beach, lol. And we can finally forget about those disastrous years with him here.

Since others have adequately addressed the stupidity of your original premise, I’ll just note how fucking weird it is that you felt the need to emphasize that his wife was white.

IIRC people claimed USF coulda fired him back in December, and only paid out something like $400K, on accounta that's all their part of his salary was - we were paying the other four and a half megabux and the new, no-Texas part hadn't kicked in yet... there was speculation that they might pull the trigger, but they didn't. Maybe the hidden verbiage in the contract said otherwise and that's why they kept him, but...

That was based only on his contract with USF AD.  Per Tampa Bay Times, the majority of his compensation is paid for by the USF Foundation (which is private and the terms have not been disclosed).  Rumor is that they would have to pay him the vast majority of the $5.3 million left on his contract after this season if they let him go (which is why they didn’t last year, and may not this year).

Whatever that dollar amount, I hope he’s sending Teddy Bridgewater a fat check every Christmas for making his dumbass a millionaire.  Classic case of one transcendent quarterback making everyone around him look good.

If you find yourself wanting to use the word racist, or any variation thereof, please go post in CR. This thread is for patting ourselves on the back for firing our last HC and for chronicling his failures at USF.

The last two threads I’ve clicked on were this one and the Houston Texans thread. The last 5 or so posts made by @Johnny Sack between the two threads have been race related. I don’t know much about him, but it appears as if he loves talking about race.

I would abso-fucking-lutely love to watch a veteran Herman team take on Strong’s team. Can you imagine how many penalties, muffed punts and blocked field goals we would see?

I am praying the USF donors are too cheap to fire him.
