Interest free, nice

Such a good deal you can't afford NOT to. Getting a huge jump on my Xmas shopping this year.

Today I don’t care if my HEB is open, short staffed, or if I can’t buy shit  they make because it’s out of stock.   They always come through when Texans are in need.

Proud to be a former HEB Partner.

Three H-E-B pop-up locations in Central Texas will begin distributing aid to flood victims on Tuesday.

The San Antonio-based grocery chain will give away free recovery kits, which include water, snacks, first aid kits, cleaning supplies, gift cards, and more. H-E-B Partners and volunteers will also provide meals to rescue personnel and first responders.

"Our teams are staying close to the hardest-hit areas, and we will continue to provide needed support as these tragic situations evolve," H-E-B said. "We hold compassion and strength for everyone who has been impacted, and we remain committed to offering unwavering support to our communities."

Recovery agencies at all levels of government in every state and even internationally could learn a thing or two from how HEB deploys.   I can be certain if a hurricane hit the coast in the next couple of weeks, they’d be down here and still be able to do their thing in the Hill Country or any other part of the state if we had simultaneous events.

It helps free up resources when you're never open, though.

SAN ANTONIO - In response to the devastating floods that have swept through the Hill Country, H-E-B, the Butt family, and the H.E. Butt Foundation have pledged $5 million in funding to support nonprofits working on relief and recovery efforts in the hardest-hit communities.

“H-E-B is committed to providing our communities with immediate and long-term relief as efforts continue in response to the destructive floods that have devastated areas across Texas,” the company said in a statement.

Shiiiiiiieeeet, Erewhon would clean up in Austin between all the pretentious tech bros and gals, then throw in all the influencers. Either downtown or West Lake would be a money printer.

I didn't have any of my usual Herdez roasted salsa verde but had a jar of this in the pantry that I got a while back in a meal deal. This is definitely going to be my new go-to.

I typically like their grapefruit and lime versions of Topo Chico. On the shelf above the 12-packs they sell singles. Saw this little guy all by his lonesome. No other singles, no case. I have a feeling this with some Russian water would be incredible, but it’s pretty solid straight up.

Mine too.

Last night, crushed some fresh mint with simple syrup - then half rum/half lime mineral water. Might need to keep that around for post lawn care days.

I got one of those Strawberry Mineral Waters chilling in the fridge.    It must be popular because the 12 packs were sold out while there was plenty of the other flavors in stock.

If you ever contemplate leaving Texas, make sure you factor "no H.E.B." into your equation.  I get by, but I sure miss them.

Same. It’s rough sledding sometimes

No HEB means you split between Albertsons and the closest mexican mercado, no fucking around.  And when you get back into the land of HEB, you kiss the ground and say a lil thanks.

Could you imagine walking into someone's house and it smells like burnt ends or pumpkin chain tres leches cake.  You're thinking you're about to eat good and it's just melted wax

I know it's been mentioned here before, but I'm starting to see it more and more:  HEB pushing their own brand and removing competing options that have been offered for decades.  That sucks.

I'm seeing hatch chiles show up at local stores.  Any roasting going on anywhere?  I don't find them special in any way to pay the extra for raw, but if someone will roast for me, that's a different story.

Ohhh I buy a shit ton of em raw and make salsa all season with them. I'm also the weirdo that likes it when my house smells like roasting chiles though.

Is that supposed to be like a mexican lasagna of sorts?

More or less, growing up we had your standard white Texan "enchilada casserole" meal that this was trying to mimic, but it didn't quite hit the mark.

I'm making some white people green enchiladas with chicken breast and cheese and low carb tortillas tonight. It will come out like that I think.
