That’s not true. As has been pointed out in this thread multiple times, other countries who had mass shooting events immediately changed their gun laws to make it harder or impossible to obtain the weapons at issue. Many other countries don’t have this issue. Only one side of the aisle in the US appears willing and able to try and implement actual solutions to this. The other side is busy talking about side doors, mental healthcare which they won’t fund and appointing judges who believe every mentally ill person in this country should be entitled to own multiple ARs. #OnesideSucks26 points

What a classless, overrated sack of shit. I don't think I've ever seen or heard a head coach of a D1 program, or any other level for that matter, openly berate the abilities of an opposing player; especially when that opposing player's team is in the process of kicking that coach's ass. Any a-holes on here who were saying that Texas should have hired him instead of DP can choke on a fat one.25 points

Yep. I disagree with Liberals/Democrats on a lot of things. But at this point I'm basically a 2 issue voter. Gun Control and Anti-Insurrection (i.e., publicly against Trump and everything that 1/6 represented). Any Republican that does not have those 2 issues front and center on their platform has zero chance of getting my vote. Which essentially means I'll continue to vote D for the foreseeable future. The policy disagreements I have with the D's don't inherently put my kids lives in jeopardy or the fundamental democracy of our country in jeopardy so it's really pretty fucking simple.20 points

I'm going to have to disagree here. The .44 mag I keep in my truck will do a whole hell of a lot more damage to the human body than the .223. But I can't fire 30 rounds of .44 mag in less than 20 seconds like I can with the AR platform. That is one of the central arguments the anti-AR crowd has, the massive amount of firepower that the AR platform represents and, if we're being honest here, is why it is the weapon of choice for these kind of tragedies. That amount of firepower is why I own one myself. Plus, they are a hoot to shoot. The gun matters, and I'm all in for reasonable restrictions on who can own and posses these types of weapons because the inconvenience of me having to fill out a few forms and wait a few weeks in order for a proper background check to occur to obtain my pew pew toy pales in comparison to the continuing slaughter of school children by people who should never have been able to buy that type of weapon in the first place.16 points

Man, we would all LOVE for guns to be treated like cars. Learner's permits, written and practical exams, different licenses and more thorough testing requirements for different classes of vehicles, license renewal fees, proof of insurance. Sign me right the fuck up.14 points

I don’t believe the police knew that when they entered the building, and especially when they heard second floor shots fired and then went up the stairs. They knew there was a shooter, there were kids, and most likely the shooter intended to not be captured alive. They moved to engage as quickly and surely as possible. Courage is not being unafraid. Courage is doing your duty despite being afraid.14 points

Dude, fuck off with all of this. You know the realities and actual numbers wrt to government spending, regardless of who is in office. But you feel like more of your money goes to "welfare queens" when D's are in office--or whatever the morons filling the Rush Limbaugh void are selling you--and that's enough for you to justify voting to ensure no reduction in school shootings ever happens. It's largely bullshit, but you're just another gullible sap. Pathetic, man. Truly.13 points

First, you're not answering the guys question that has been bolded. You're just calling him a meanie for deriding you, but you can't refute his point that building a nuclear shelter would give your family a 5% increase of survival in a nuclear holocaust, while claiming people would do "anything" to give themselves a 5% increase in living. Secondly, I'm not inadvertently making your point, you're (I will assume obliviously) fundamentally missing MY original point. Which is that in your absolutist take on doing things that increase your chances of survival in general, you'd NEVER get on a plane, you'd NEVER get in a car. You're picking and choosing your point. And then a single fucking post later, you literally use the "buying your kid a car" as proof of your point. You dunked on yourself, you fucking buffoon. The point is, you're real quick to pick and choose which scenarios that improves one life by "5%" that you choose to accept are real, versus those that you're actively dismissive of...which is more sad than it is funny. And shockingly, you're passionate about just one of those things to increase your life percentages is gun ownership. Guns are a lot cheaper to build than bomb shelters, and much quicker to acquire, after all. Additionally, what you're failing to realize, is that lots of things are dangerous. People tacitly accept the risk whenever they get in a car. Whenever they get in a plane. Whenever they light up a cigarette. Whenever they put a glass of alcohol to their lips. There are short term and long term dangers associated with all of those things. But, and follow me here, people get fucking passionate things like gun safety, or say pedophilia, because they are things that inordinately these days in the case of guns, HAPPEN TO FUCKING CHILDREN. There is a reason pedophiles get treated the worst in prison. It's because by and large as a species we are HARD WIRED to fucking want to protect children. That's why this shit gets so passionate. That's why the outcry for Uvalde, or a Nashville, is much more passionate than say, the night club in Miami, the massage parlors in Atlanta, or even the big shooting in Las Vegas. And those get PLENTY of outrage, media coverage, and passion. But school shootings are a fucking next level, order of magnitude level of outrage. Because it's children. And because children can't tacitly accept the risk associated with going to school. They're complete innocents, but they're being buttfucked by the decisions of others in which they have no control. Sorry for the rant, everyone else. I mean not really, but I'm sure that some will complain about a longcat post.12 points

But you've never supported a single candidate for public office who supports those things. In fact, every GQP candidate for office stridently OPPOSES those things, ANY things, being done with respect to firearms. We criticize you for the utter disconnect. You don't get to say "I'm in favor of reducing wildfires" while you relentlessly vote for arsonists.12 points

The right doesn't want us to focus on the guns, they want us to focus on the shooter and transgenders... so let's oblige for a minute. We have an entire political party laser focused on dismantling any sort of care for transgender individuals. You have folks dead set on labeling it as a mental illness but also doing everything in their power to ensure that this "illness" is not properly treated. We obviously don't know the entire story with the Nashville individual, but it's not hard to connect the dots that his parents enrolled him in this religious school against his will and that resentment eventually fueled Monday's events. We have an entire group of people being treated as less than human, villainized by everyone with a mouth on one side of the aisle. This is being followed by increased efforts to search for religious "fixes" (or straight up denial) instead of proper medical treatment. By doing this, Republicans are purposefully and intentionally creating the exact type of individual (ostracized, misunderstood, lonely) who traditionally carries out mass shootings, while also ensuring that these individuals will face little to no roadblocks in purchasing weapons that can carry out these deadly acts. We can have the transgender conversation, but it still leads back to the same fucking people causing the problem.12 points

As I think about the 2023 season for ATM, I keep having to tell myself things like "there's no way it really plays out like that" because it seems so obvious that it just can't, but I'll be damned if I still don't believe a lot of it. Scenario 1 - Connor Weigman goes down for the season due to injury or concussion because he's ragdolled behind the atrocious OL. Max Johnson fares little better running for his life the remainder of the year. Scenario 2 - There's a fundamental breakdown within the coaching staff that bleeds over publicly because they have the largest group of assholes assembled in a single this side of a Milwaukee Weight Watcher's meeting. Between Petrino, Adazzio, Fisher, Craig, Durkin and the lot, someone will try to murder someone else. There's no way, right? But I'll be damned if those things don't feel more likely than not. The other problem with trying to discredit these thoughts is how closely the absurd, surreal shit has tracked to real life over the Fisher era: -He's had the mercenary approach stereotypically become a problem for the roster, replete with minimum upper classmen leadership on a year in, year out basis. -He took the Saban bait and went on a midget hillbilly rant embarrassing himself in public. -Haynes King was broken to pieces almost immediately once in a game. -Then King sucked the following year after being anointed, as expected. -The 2023 recruiting class sucked because everyone went after them. -Weigman got a concussion and missed games and his father ranted to Ritz Bitz in person. -Fisher hired the worst available fit for the program at OC. Fisher then won't commit to that choice calling plays. -He had Craig coach QBs for a year. -Adazzio showed up, shat out a terrible OLine and now is actively running off one of his best players. All that's left is for DJ Durkin to kill someone on the team. It's fucking loony that this board has predicted almost all of this.12 points

Stupid fuck, the laws on bail in Texas are written by the Legislature, which has been Republican for 30+ years, and almost all of those people can't legally be denied bail under those Republican laws. SO motherfucking tired of people opining on bail who literally have zero clue about the law or the purpose of bail - HINT, it is to release people from jail, not keep them in.11 points

Most people are perfectly fine with drag shows. We're systematically banning them anyways Most people were OK with abortion laws the way they were. But it's pretty much illegal now anyway Almost everyone was happy to have their children reading books about empathy, sharing, and accepting others as they are. We're banning those books anyways NOBODY WANTS CHILDREN TO BE SHOT AT SCHOOL! But there's nothing we can do about it?11 points
