  1. I can't believe how many of y'all are scared of ULaLa. Yeah they were 10-1. In the Fucking SunBelt. Sure, they have some guys coming back. Big fucking deal. Jesus. Take away 1 blow out win against Monroe, and they won those games by an average of less than a TD. Against Georgia State, Georgia Southern, UAB, TX St. etc. God, man the fuck up.

  2. Link? Because the only thing I found that lends support to your claim is a YouGov online poll. But the conclusion was not a super majority believed Russia tampered vote tallies, but rather 55% believed it was either probably (33%) or definitely (22%) true. Polls show that a higher percentage of Republicans believe the election was “stolen” from Trump. And just comparing these two claims without context is lazy bothsideser bullshit. Russia interfered in the 2016 election. That’s a fucking fact, as documented by the Mueller report. It appears unlikely that Russia tampered with vote tallies, but officials believe they did hack into voter rolls. So in 2018, a year before the Mueller report released, a belief that Russia hacked voter tallies was incorrect but was not far off from the truth, which is that Russia interfered with intent to influence the election and hacked into some electoral databases. The view that Russia went a step further was a legitimate inference from what we knew about Russia’s role at the time, although it ultimately proved incorrect. The belief in 2021 that the 2020 election was stolen or rigged is wrong on far different level. There is no evidence to support it. It’s been tested in court and failed miserably dozens of times. The vast majority of congressional Republicans and even Trump bootlick Bill Barr outright rejected it. The few reports of voter fraud related mostly to Trump (not Biden) supporters. There’s no reasonable basis to believe there was any measurable fraud in favor of Biden in 2020. As such, believing the 2020 election was stolen is entirely unjustifiable and inconsistent with all available evidence.

  4. there's so much to unpack from today, so i'll just start listing them. tuesday was devastating for oakland, today was twice as devastating for the yankees. they had just started to play better. they're in real jeopardy of not making the playoffs. yankee twitter can't decide if the lede is "oh lookie loo, guess altuve can have his jersey ripped off now" or "fucking christ why can't we close a god damned game?" first off, the only reason they ripped his shirt off today is to tell yankee fans (and the media) to shut the fuck up about it. lol at people looking at a small tattoo that looks like it's in mid-removal and say "i thought he had a tattoo but where is it?!?" as for the closer situation, they're proper fucked. they have one good starter and ~1-2 good bullpen pieces. chapman is junk. green is junk. britton is junk and injured. superteam my ass. they are a long way from being a ~good baseball team. we walked them 14x today and won. i'd say we'll see them in oct, but maybe we'll just see them in 2022. judge was a whiny bitch in 2017 and he was a whiny bitch yesterday, and was probably so happy he got to perform his little touchdown dance celebration that he planned ahead of time. machete laughs at him, and altuve got the last laugh, again. momentum is a real thing, and it would've really sucked to lose 4 in a row, get swept by the yankees, and have the only discussion for the next 4 days be about the astros who weren't in denver. though i still haven't heard anyone say shit about mookie, who's in the midst of his hottest stretch of the year. or any of the other opt-outs. and while we're on the subject, fuck the media for making it into an astros story. trout has been out forever, acuna is now out for a year, glasnow is out, tatis keeps missing chunks of games (though is still a monster). bregman has been out for a month. injuries are crazy right now and i'm fine with all 25 guys sitting in a cryo-chamber until friday. we haven't hit worth a shit since tuesday, but somehow went 3-3 this week. felt much worse a few hours ago. explaining to my wife the unlikelihood of today unfolding exactly the way it did was a whole separate headache. baseball is not like other sports, where you know mj or kobe or elway or brady is going to have the ball and a chance at the end. this could not have been professionally scripted any better from the chapman bomb, through the scandal, all the buzzer bullshit, through the past 2 games, the judge jersey pull, the nonsensical reporting by fox yesterday, to a 7-2 deficit, to altuve coming up with a chance to walk it off. story-fucking-book-shit. g5 of 2017 world series was probably the best postseason astros game ever, followed somewhere by g1 and the tuve blast from 2019. but i'm having trouble remembering a more satisfying regular season (pre-july 15th too) game. how can you not be romantic about baseball?

  8. It really is. He went full Jose Mourinho and tried to win a game 1-0 after scoring in the 2nd minute. Grealish came on way too late. And he put three young guys into the biggest pressure PKs of their lives without even getting much action first. Southgate strikes me as having a little Tom Herman in him, as in he wants to show everyone that he knows better than what consensus standard coaching dictates because he's just so much smarter than everyone else.

  9. Here's mine...I've told it on here before, on another thread. I've always lived in "ranching" country from 8th grade until college. My 8th grade year, I rode the bus about 200 miles per day. The bus driver lived about a mile from me, so I was first on, and last off. A young Mexican kid, Blas, and his younger siblings were the next on/off. So Blas and I spent a lot of time together. His parents were undocumented, and worked in the Plantation Foods turkey plucking plant. They would show up at the bus stop in a 1970's Olds 98 with 15 people in the car. Blas and the others would hop out and get on the bus. He was always a great kid, and we spent the time on the bus polishing up his English, while I learned a little Spanish. We were pretty tight friends. The next year, I had to drive to school because the buses ran before football practice was over. Well, a few years ago, Blas' name came up on Facebook. So I hit him up to see what he was up to. He had moved one school district over to a 2A school where he graduated as Valedictorian. But he, also being undocumented, wasn't able to accept any of his scholarship offers. Blas went into the army, where he became a Master Sergeant at the end of his 20 years of service. His service granted him US citizenship, and he has been all over the World. I've seen pictures of him and his family in Venice, Berlin, Paris, London, etc. Last year was the best, his absolutely gorgeous daughter had graduated Magna Cum Laude from Baylor. To be honest, it was kinda dusty. He has gone a long way from being that little kid getting out of that packed to the gills Olds 98 with his Goodwill and garage sale wardrobe to where he is today. He was always happy, determined, and his parents were determined that he would have a better life than they had, they gave him the opportunity. He had that same determination for his kids. CHIEF

  10. I think Slorch is on to something. Kids are no longer taught by their parents how to deal with disappointment, rejection, or life difficulties. They are taught they are perfect, it is the other person who is at fault, and that retribution is ok. The retribution is just a lot worse when these kids grow into adulthood. Then you add in addictions, and they are part of the wrong crowd, they are invincible in their eyes, and shit turns deadly. When I was a kid, if I got in trouble at school, I could expect to be in trouble when I got home. My parents, taught me how deal with disappointment, difficulties, rejection, and depression, and how to be respectful, courteous, sympathetic and conscious of other's feelings. My wife had the same "old school" upbringing as I. That is the way we raised our son as well. At 23, he has all of those traits. I have never had to bail him out of a difficult situation, caused by any of those negative traits. He had a few classmates, that were raised in the former, that are now in jail. They were the perfect bad examples. Their parents were the ones that always sided with their kid over the teacher, which seems to be the new norm. All that teaches the kid is they don't have to respect authority (even if the authority figure is wrong) because Mama always has their back. But Mama has a lot more difficult job when things go criminal. CHIEF

  11. We have people among us that just can’t function in society. “I got divorced so I’m going to attempt killing a lot of people.” Really? That’s your plan? Why? So people know / remember your name? Others deserve to be miserable like you? Show her what you’re capable of and in some odd way try impressing her? What is it? Why? Explain? Link? The usual dipshits can politicize this and firearms in the hands of private citizens. They’ll never stop. Beyond that, why are some so broken that they would do this? Are these members of our society this deluded, narcissistic, selfish and fragile? I don’t understand. At all.

  13. For those that dont know, things have gotten BAD there. Getting close to the “dark days” post soviet union collapse. You get like one bag of rice a month if you are lucky. In the past this wasnt a big deal since they could buy supplies in the store from money sent from US kinfolk. Now the stores are empty. Zero bread, rice, basic staples. Zero medication. We have to send basic antibiotics and diapers to family via courier (matriarch of the family suffered from an undiagnosed stroke and is now bed ridden). Shit is bad. Im really worried about my little 2 year old nephew in havana. He is horribly underweight due to lack of food. we have tried to get him over, but his mom refuses to make the jump. Thankfully family in the small village can hunt for food (with home made shotguns and shells). They bring in duck hauls that would make a coonass blush.

  16. My post wasn't to question Lee's military expertise. I understand that our country has a soft spot for proven generals (see: Rommel). My point was that schools have whitewashed and even glorified his history for 150 years. "Brilliant tactician" shouldn't be the first thing that people think of when they hear his name. That's better than he deserves. He doesn't get to hide behind "not wanting to abandon his state" any more than SS soldiers get to hide behind "serving the motherland." This isn't hindsight; the rest of the civilized world had come to accept the evils of slavery by the early 1800's. Shit, the British colonies had been slave free for over two decades when the Civil War broke out. The Confederate states weren't a product of their time; they were a bunch of racist shit heels trying desperately to hold onto a backwards ass, morally repugnant way of life. Lee had a choice, and he chose to be grouped with them. That's his legacy.

  19. It’s sad to me that us fans are fully expecting to drop one of the first two games and expecting 7-9 wins. Fuck losing to some directional Louisiana team and a fucking bottom barrel Arkansas team. And fuck losing any games in the big 12. We have out recruited every fucking team including ou. If these coaches can’t get us to 10 fucking wins against the pathetic big 12 and a shitty OOC schedule, then fuck this program. Fucking aggy is expecting to compete for a national championship with a 1st year QB and we’re sitting here wondering if our new staff can out perform that moron Tom Herman. 10+ wins and a big 12 championship appearance is what we need to accomplish.

  25. I asked this a couple years ago but everyone wanted to focus on guns instead of the mental health issues which are obviously the underlying problem. Guns just make it easier. I believe the problem is mental health, but not necessarily a diagnosed mental illness, but instead a culture which breeds mental issues. Some of these have been touched on above with respect to accountability. The primary issue with mental health deficiencies I believe is cultural and the second is true mental deficiency/illness. I think single parent/two-parent working households presents an enormous problem. We are bombarded with everything we HAVE to have and in order to have those things, one of the sacrifices is for both parents to work. In the case of single parents, there isn't an option, they are the sole breadwinner. Not only are parents not parenting and teaching kids respect and caring for others, personal responsibility, and a sense of morality, they just aren't present. They are working. And when they are there, they are more focused on themselves than on the sacrifice it takes to actually raise kids properly. I'm not immune to this, nobody is. But there are different levels and I think there is a healthy balance of taking care of oneself and the responsibility that comes with raising kids. But the US leads the world in consumerism and image by a large margin and I think that has created a culture of judging people by what they have and not who they are/what type of person they are. This lack of parenting also leads to the lack of accountability issues others have talked about because either consciously or subconsciously, the parents realize they are absent to some degree and don't want to risk further alienating their kids, so they always side with them, never punish, always reinforce that the kid is right. This isn't parenting. Secondly is social media. Too many people in this world (and especially this country) are focused on "me" instead of "us". Everyone can be a star or the perfect family or live the perfect life on Facebook/Insta/TikTok and these outlets create a false sense of reality for people who see themselves as NOT having the same stuff/life/experience/happiness as everyone they see on social media. It breeds discontent and depression and a sense of loneliness and lack of caring for others. The only way to reach out and develop relationships is online with other people who have similar experiences and harbor the same feelings and it spirals downward from there. We see this clearly with Politics - people's world view shrinks because they are force fed more content that supports their world view and demonizes any other viewpoints. Again, this is rooted in the rampant consumerism and the need to HAVE things and be LIKED which is fostered by our material/marketing culture more in the US than anywhere else in the world. Third is true mental illness. Some people just have their wires crossed and should be treated but are not. That's an entirely different conversation, but it is something that needs to be addressed. For those who don't have a moral compass to help guide them, (from not being raised to have this moral compass) they lose a sense of right/wrong and instead focus on the unfairness of the Haves/Have Nots they see playing out on their Twitter/Insta accounts. They eventually depersonalize the Haves and feel justified in killing these people. My $0.02.

  33. I absolutely believe that Russian internet psyops helped mobilize the aggrieved morons that constitute Trump's base in 2016. Much as outlined in Mueller's indictment of IRA. I think the Trump campaign tried to work with various actors to promote those activities and related things like the email dumps. I'm not sure they were very successful, but they didn't need to be. The russkies got it done, regardless.
