Ellie working thru being a parent upon seconds of hearing the info

Yeah, that was rushed as fuck and felt out of place (along with the "I'm pregnant, now let's fuck" moment). It went from "I guess I do like girls more" to "we're going to spend the rest of our lives together raising a family" in like 3 seconds. I imagine the game gives that relationship more time to breath--and probably a few more near death encounters to experience.

She must be on the HBO call list with Jeffrey Wright and Lester and Herc from The Wire.

I thought it was cursing and showing bush on Waiting, as her breakout role

It's one thing to not like the show anymore without Joel--to each his own, that's fine--but imagine being so fucking miserable and easily triggered that it's a "shameful push of gender politics" because two girls happen to like each other on TV.

Also uh, the game’s fan base shouldn’t be surprised about Ellie being gay?

This was an actual line of dialogue? No wonder people have stopped watching in droves

Dialogue during that scene was pretty cringey but yea gender politics is a stretch .

Writing and acting of that scene was pretty bad.

Jeffrey Wright as a fascist with a heart of gold was better.

So does he hold the record for most hbo shows appeared in?  They do like going back to their favorites.  He should do a White Lotus.

Reddit has its uses. Posting random Reddit posters opinions of a show they are *allegedly* not watching is weird…..unless it’s Helobious then it’s just standard dumbfuckery.

They aren’t random users. They are top commenters on that particular sub and pretty well versed on the subject, and many of them do still watch it for the memes. The posts dragging the show have literally thousands of upvotes and comments, it’s one of the most intensely hated shows out right now due to its poor writing and treatment of source material.

What do you mean "ruin a person?"

As in, its unrealistic for them to have done so?

yes, pretty unrealistic to ride that far for that many days. For both the horse and the rider. What the westerns don't show you is that for a good chunk of the riding day, the rider has to rest the horse by walking instead of riding. So if you are riding a horse 20 miles a day, you are actually walking probably a third to a half of that time/distance. Or you have two horses and you switch off. And you should have two horses, in case one goes lame, just like you should always have a working spare tire in car.

But whatever. Its TV. I wasn't necessarily criticizing the show, just elaborating on somebody else's post.

edit: Google-tron gives me a range of 20 to 50 miles per day, depending on fitness, age, and experience of horse and rider, as well as terrain, weather, weight of rider, etc, and total length of journey (total miles). So maybe more than 20 or 25 miles in a day in perfect conditions (plenty of food, water, not having to carry a ton of weight).

Every time I read an Helobious post, I get a hearty chuckle when I remember that he's in his mid-to-late 30's.

Then I'm deeply saddened when I realize that perpetually online, self-important dorks and trolls who never grew up effectively control the world.

This.  They left Jackson Hole in the middle of the night and it was evening by the time they reached the graveyard which was like 10 miles away.  Reasonable.

the hooking up didn't bother me because it's a pretty standard trope, the heroes hooking up after some terrible traumatic encounter, it just happened to be two girls instead of girl/guy which should be normal.  however, emotionally it fell soooo waaay flat next to 'Long, Long Time'.

the baby/family/'daddy' stuff was absolutely ridiculous 🙄

i really like Dina though, she's smarter and more likable than Ellie.

I think what bothers me the most about this show right now is no matter what shit the on screen characters crawl through or jump over or into to escape the shroom zombies in the next scene they will look like they just got done with a spa day and put on some professionally laundered clothes.

I noticed this too.  They went from Wyoming to Portland without a shower, they crawled over decomposed bodies and they are clean as a whistle.

There are plenty of reason to take issue with the source material, but the specific issue was with Last of Us 2.

For the record, the so called incels absolutely loved the first game.

You had an entire game based around a man whose world crumbled around him when his daughter and wife died. He continued finding a way to survive in a zombie infested world. Not shockingly after losing his family and in a zombie world be became hard, jaded and was more than a little vicious.

For complex reasons he was entrusted with the life of a young girl, in fact saved her life. The woman who encouraged him died. He was left alone with a girl who was about the age of his daughter when she died.

Though it wasn't well painted in the TV series, Joel was gruff and offish early given his past. Over time, through lots of life threatening moments, he and Ellie slowly developed a stronger and stronger bond. She started really listening and respecting him and his heart opened up. He was healing. It was amazing to see the development. It was what was truly loved about the game. Her growing under his protection and him healing through her.

Then in the second game, early in, he's killed. Bam!

Spoiler

Not only that he was killed by the daughter of someone he killed while saving Ellie.

But wait that's not all folks.

Then you had to play the character that killed the man players came to love.

But WAIT there's more still...

After playing the character that killed the protagonist players loved in the first one, you go back to being Ellie.

And...

Then...

Players don't even get revenge.

It left players empty and angry. Joel was shit on, then his memory shit on, and the very person that brought him love again, you know, the one he saved....

Didn't fucking avenge him.

But yeah, its all because she was gay and every person that played the second game and didn't like it because they are incels.

Get new material. That line of bullshit is tired.

Did feel a little rushed when Ellie is showing her arm to I'm pregnant to she's hand deep into the other girls crotch.

I'm sticking with this season but this is already seeming very TWDish.

My only issue with the lesbian sex was that it took place after a 900 mile horse ride and a mushroom zombie escape while wearing the same clothes.

The dirty finger bang was only topped by Ellie sticking her dirty cooch fingers in the nasty beef jerky for breath mints.

Reminded me of the scene from Enemy at the Gates when Jude Law and Rachel Weisz gave each other the funk during their Russian WWII sex scene.

Yeah, they could have given them a car or truck to use, just like they did in Season 1 to go from Boston to SLC. Probably would have been more realistic, but maybe the horse itself has a purpose later. It's a dumb complaint, because tons of other shows and video games just skip the travel parts and have characters magically teleport places. GoT did it all the time, in a world with much slower travel, and yeah it got some critical posts for it, but it's just a part of shows. They don't want to waste an episode on some random stuff happening in a forest that has no bearing on the main storyline.
