The press should stop covering him. The president lies, daily, just about everything he says is a lie. So stop covering it because its not news. It’s just lies.

Well he’s the president the press might say? Well sure. If the president actually does something, like blows up the world or threatens to for no good reason, then sure, cover that. But when the president is up there spouting out lie after lie after lie, about just a bunch of inane bullshit just ignore it and don’t report it.  Because its ultimately worthless information.

Tell me why I’m wrong?

You're not wrong when you use logic.  But you also aren't a 24 hour cable news network that gets ratings and advertising money because people are understandably, jaw-droppingly, tuned into this daily shit show because most of us can't fathom that it's actually happening.  The Fox News angle is different because they cater to the morons, but ultimately, he is a media sensation train wreck that none of us can look away from.

It may very well be our undoing because we are dumb monkeys that can't look away, but that is why the media won't stop.  It's appalling and fascinating at the same time.

FOX wouldn't play along. They would be churning out propaganda full tilt and there would be no counter coverage.

Huxley was right. He outpredicted Orwell.

It’s still not too late though. The very fact that we’re typing this on the net proves that.

What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egotism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy. As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertariansand rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny "failed to take into account man's almost infinite appetite for distractions." In 1984, Orwell added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that our fear will ruin us. Huxley feared that our desire will ruin us.

TL;DR:  Trump's lies work.  MSM needs to learn to ignore him and focus on the real stuff.  At the very least they need to learn to question him better.

I heard a guy on Anderson Cooper talking about information in 2018. I think it was last week. He said that one might expect truth to shine forth in a time when everyone has access to so much information. Instead, each team gathers together in insular forums that reinforce their views (e.g. Aggy, FoxNews, etc.).

It has reached the breaking point for the press and for Congress. This man is going to do irreparable harm to our country. I guess it's just the inevitable destination in a town where very few lies are called out. Voters and people in DC just accept the fact that most Congressmen are crooks. Trump is just taking it to the nth degree. Lies all the time, and he's getting away with it. Some people in DC are going to have to set their careers aside and call him a traitorous liar in a forceful way.

I'm afraid that there are so many crooks on Capitol Hill that transparency is impossible. They won't allow it.

Several months back...hell, maybe on the shit porn board, I linked an hour long conversation video between Paul Begala and Bill Kristol.

Begala talked about an acquaintance from Texas that said he supported Trump because Hillary is a liar.  Begala says "what about Trump"?

"Oh...he's a bullshitter".  As if that's something better or different.  I suspect that to be the primary Trumpkin mentality.

Yesterday the topic of Trump's lying was hot.  Here is a good article I found on a different take on it.  I don't think dotard ever knew the science behind it like explained here, but he learned a long time ago this approach works, and has honed it to an art.

The article is long, but there are some really good points in it.   Some of you guys talk about how he likes to control the narrative.  Also how he introduces red herrings to detract from the bigger ills:

They mention the "truth sandwich" as a way the press can begin to fight and maybe corner him.  Currently the way the media reports and handles Trump plays right into his hands.

There is a difference in how we compute what is in front of us

Alternative truths

Totally agree.  The reaction to the lies has as much effect as the lie itself.

I'm a public figure whose words carry and I say the liberal desire to rehabilitate criminals has resulted in a 1000-fold increase in rapes of white women under a democrat controlled house of representatives.  Liberals hear this bald-faced lie and react with shock and anger.

Now you have long believed liberals are the scourge of America.  You hear my words, and your beliefs are validated.  BUT, they are validated even more when you then see the reaction of liberals on TV.  Their anger makes them seem more threatening and scary.  Their angry reaction also makes me appear to be someone taking the fight to them.  Damaging them.  Disrupting their ability to impose harm on you and yours.

I'm now your fucking hero.

We would be better served if everyone reacted with the equivalent of "ok, cool.  Hook'em!"

She'll be shopping for a book deal, like all the rest of the longer term Trump aides.

Just curious Eddie, who do you see hiring her?  Seems she could be indicted for obstruction and Hatch Act violations, aiding and abetting...gotta be something they can hang on her.

she owns her own business, and i’d personally hire the fuck outta her. she managed to message a completely immoral dumbfuck into the WH, convincing 60+ million people to vote for him.

she’s a fucking PR genius.

Trouble is, she's lost at least half of her potential future clients just by being tied to this administration.  If she comes out clean from all the other legal issues on the horizon, she still has the Trump stain that isn't going to go away.

His campaign in 2016 might have been her Magnum Opus.  Since then, she really hasn't helped herself.  It probably would have been best for her to walk away from him during the transition when her stock was higher.  Instead, we are going to have such treasures as alternative facts and this:

You're giving her a lot of undeserved credit. Her role is to obfuscate for anti-Trumpers, not to deliver Trump voters. Fox, Breitbart, and Russia delivered the votes.

The Saudi & Dubai 1 percenters do not believe in religion anymore than the US 1 percenters. It's a sham, to inculcate oppression, power and slavery.

Trump fakes it. The Koch's fake it, the Bush's and Delay's fake it.

Religion is a fraud. If you believe, you are insane.

FUCK SAUDI ARABIA AND MBS

WASHINGTON — A top White House official responsible for American policy toward Saudi Arabia resigned on Friday evening, a move that may suggest fractures inside the Trump administration over the response to the brutal killing of the dissident Jamal Khashoggi.

The official, Kirsten Fontenrose, had pushed for tough measures against the Saudi government, and had been in Riyadh to discuss a raft of sanctions that the American government imposed in recent days against those identified as responsible for the killing, according to two people familiar with the conversations. Specifically, she advocated that Saud al-Qahtani, a top adviser to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, be added to the list, and he ultimately was.

The exact circumstances of her departure are murky, and it is unclear whether her advocacy for a hawkish response to the killing angered some in the White House. When she returned to Washington, according to the two people, she had a dispute with her bosses at the National Security Council, where she had served as the director for the Persian Gulf region.

A representative for the council declined to comment. Ms. Fontenrose did not reply to messages seeking comment.
