Jordan avoided all video games (except ironically Michael Jordan in Chaos in the Windy City, which isn't even a basketball game).

It’s not just Reddit, he’s getting it on Twitter as well.

Oh no! Reddit AND Twitter are on his ass!!! What will he do now?

The haters going to hate either way, he can do what he wants.

He wants to get better as a QB and learn for another year as a backup before taking over a loaded Texas team with a truly great playcaller.

It’s actually more interesting to see what happens with his valuable name image and likeness without his consent instead of the $600.

Before every single player was in the game but called QB #16 and it was obviously that player. I don’t think EA can get away with using their likeness without compensation anymore. It will be funny to see what they do. Randomly generated guy or maybe generic guy who knows

If this was a aggy backup qb we would all be making fun of him….   It’s a pretty dumb stance to take and if the family was involved in the decision, they made a bad choice.  Terrible PR move rather you like it or not.

I'm having a difficult time understanding both sides of this. He doesn't want to be in a lame, cash-grabbing video game that's feeding off of 2000s nostalgia. How does that make him a pussy?

Also, I don't get the side that applauds this as some "moral", old-school decision. His last name is Manning. Recognition and money aren't issues he needs to worry about.

The fact that this is even news is why I've started to completely check out during the off-season outside of Spring ball.

TL;DW version: "Who fucking cares? Texas fans will play it because Texas is in the game; LSU fans will play it because LSU is in the game; Oklahoma fans will do meth and aggy will fuck sheep."

ok I added the last two...

Maybe Arch and the Manning's are going to come out with their own video game, based on the Manning passing academy. Maybe Arch doesn't want to be a back up video game QB. Maybe I don't give a shit and will buy the game anyways.

I love how everyone is conflating the fact that this was a report from Anwar fucking Richardson who did a shit job in giving a reason and likely never spoke to Arch or his family directly about it, versus Arch actually coming out and saying anything about it.

Aw, wtf. Terrible.

I remember the old game didn't have the Butkus Award. EA just replaced it with a generic "Linebacker of the Year" award in RTG mode.

But now it looks like the only award that will be in the game is the Heisman Trophy.

Honest question:  Why does that matter?  Wont they just have a similar name that everybody will know its the Maxwell or Heisman or whatever?

I took it as literal, but you're probably right. As long as there are the same awards with generic names, it's totally fine

Yeah the article says the NCFAA tried to negotiate a higher rights fee, saying their former inclusion in the games was undervalued. EA balked and will just put in their own generic awards.

Small bummer, but not really that significant to the dynasty mode experience.

The Heisman is operated by it's own entity so could still be in the game. Though I can only imagine the arrogance that group displays at the negotiating table.

If this game is the sales hit everyone thinks, the awards will be in next year. I’d like to see EA tell them to fuck off then.

I'll add you. I only have Xbox 360 right now, saving up for a current Xbox console. Which is better? Series S or X?

Just get the X. They are the same just the cheaper one doesn’t have a drive. Most things are download these days but if you have a 360 and a bunch of 360 games you want the drive so you can play those disks in the new console.

Yeah, everything ive heard was that pc was delayed at best.

It wouldnt surprise me to see PC come out in like August or September, but I know they have been pushing to get this out and get it right, so maybe they sacrificed PC this go around and wait until next year.

Any chance Ewers is a cover athlete? There will be multiple cover athletes but just one QB, so Ewers will have to beat out Shedeur Sanders, Jalen Milroe and Carson Beck for the cover spot.

Matt Brown: Here's what I know about the EA Sports College Football 25 cover athletes

Quote

I’ve previously reported that EA Sports College Football 25 is tentatively scheduled to come out on July 19, with a “full reveal” from EA Sports coming in May. While previous reporting (from myself and other reporters) has mostly focused on licensing, assets, and intellectual property, I’m told that the company plans to provide additional gameplay and feature information in their May update.

One of those details the company plans to release in May? Who is going to be on the cover of the game. I’ve been making calls of my own, and I can share some details to help everybody narrow their guesses a bit, thanks to multiple conversations I’ve had with multiple individuals with direct familiarity with EA’s cover choices. I can share that:

  • There are multiple cover athletes, since EA is releasing multiple versions of the video game.
  • Each cover athlete is a current college football player who plays in a different power conference. There was plenty of internet speculation that the cover athlete could potentially be a coach (Nick Saban?), or any number of athletes that played during the years the game was not released (previous Heisman winners?) or even fans/mascots (the Oregon Duck?!?). Those were reasonable guesses, but I’ve been told that the athletes will be current athletes…people you will see play actual college football this season.
  • The athletes all play different positions. That means there’s only one quarterback, one running back, etc.

Happy guessing!

I was thinking Shedeur was a lock, but it’s interesting that he has yet to post the “I’m in the game” advertisement. I’m wondering if it comes out eventually that the Sanders family pulled the same move as the Mannings and opted out. Either that or EA is planning some big splash when they reveal him. Travis Hunter and Ewers/Beck/Milroe all posted it FWIW.

Saw Ewers, Hunter, and Donovan Edwards getting some traction in the Reddit comments and thought it was a solid guess.

If anyone from Colorado deserves a cover it's Travis Hunter. But Sanders has the more marketable last name, unfortunately.

The fact that they're doing just one player per P4 conference probably screws Ewers. Despite winning the Big 12 title he won't get to be the Big 12's pick because of our SEC move, while the SEC's pick will probably be someone from their conference title game (Milroe or Beck).

Might be thinking too deeply for EA but I kind of think the SEC move actually works in his favor. With all the change coming this season and this game having the opportunity to showcase all of it beforehand, putting a Texas jersey with the SEC emblem on the cover seems like a decent marketing tactic to highlight one of the biggest changes.

I will be playing the shit out of it regardless, but Quinn being the conference rep would provide for some glorious screenshots from a variety of fanbases.

Fight Night Champion?

How are we two console generations removed from the last Fight Night game? Some of my favorite/most played games of the PS2 and PS3 eras.

I’d play the hell out of a 4K/60fps remaster of Fight Night 3 or 4 or Champion on PS5.

because EA ruins the best things in life? I’m pretty sure the dissolved the studio they had working on the fight night series and made the UFC games priority.

it’s a damn shame.

This is ridiculous. Just give me the damn game. Hell put Jim Thorpe on the cover. Give me the teams, stadiums and edits. I'll take care of the rest.

Trying to fit players in who will only be around for 1 season of dynasty is ridiculous.

They must’ve dissolved and bought out and changed the UFC studio too because the UFC games have turned to complete shit since undisputed 3.

THQ I guess died
