You may have a fair point. I would submit that aggy is funny, while Baylol is not and I’ve only seen that from friends/coworkers that are Texag posters. They have a weird need to name a lot of teams. none are good. Tceh, purple Baylol for TCU. At least in the text exchanges I’ve seen.

sand aggy, bible aggy/rapelor and cockroaches are the acceptable answers, respectively.

What is the logic in taking a long snapper as a recruited player? Isn't this normally a position that you can find someone currently on the roster to do and not have to take up a scholarship?

Shows a commitment to executing all aspects of special teams on a high level, similar to paying your special teams coordinator $1MM. Long snappers are a critical component and arguably worth the scholarship if they’re good enough, giving scholarships to long snappers is a rather common practice.

Maybe the ball teleports out of his hand. Ever thought about that, guy???

Translation:  wants LSU, they ain't got no coach on defense

Maybe right. Matthews, Harris, Stewart, Perkins and Brooks are the five “believe it when I see it” recruits that we are pursuing. Of course, Neto would have been in that same category yesterday, and Banks a week before, so who the fuck knows.

That's part of the game.  It sucks but it is what it is.  It's better the staff tells him now that he won't have much playing time opportunity now so he can find a landing spot versus getting him on campus and not investing time in developing him if they don't think he's good enough to play here.  Shit happens, not sure how his senior tape looked but he may have just sucked it up like the LB from Cali that we processed.

Demand has definitely outpaced supply in available scholarships for our class.

It may have went more like the conversation your parents had with you when they finally decided to push you out of the basement this past summer.

Are you attempting to say that 6th Street doesn't still live in his parents basement? Because that seems like complete bullshit to me.

Stop saying the LA kid was processed.  It could very well be that he wants LSU and is waiting to see what happens there.  It could be we processed him.  No one knows shit.

In before fat ketch or chip brown writes the hit piece which is then retweetes by every statesman writer that he loved Texas his entire time and the coaches called him Tuesday morning before nsd and we told him even though he was bought in and committed we didn't have a spot for him.

Defensive Back Updates | ClosingBy: Super KPosted on: December 14, 2021

***As Charlie noted yesterday, Texas is back in the driver’s seat for Sooners DB commit, Xavion Brice.

With him and the current commits, as well as the possibility of late additions, I’m told that Texas commit, Ronald Lewis (Warren Easton) won’t be signing with Texas in the early period.

***CJ and I have already spoken about where we believe things are with Denver Harris. It’s shifted from what seemed to be a Corey Raymond, LSU lock to a Texas vs TAMU battle.

Again, we’ve got it slightly favoring Texas but that will obviously be something we’re checking on today.

***Also, Texas continues to try to make a late move with Ohio State DB commit, Terrance Brooks.

I’m told that Terrance and co are concerned about the possibility of Kerry Coombs leaving (I’m told he plans on staying). And, the rumors of the possibility of Ryan Day heading to the NFL (I have no idea how true they are although I’d be lying if I said I didn’t hear the rumors) seem to have reached him, as well, and has Terrance and his family a bit concerned.

I don’t personally feel it will be enough come tomorrow but again, that’s one I’ll be tracking today as I’m told the concerns from Brooks’ camp are real.

Any others you think might get processed out?  I know you assholes have been trying to get that Swanson kid out of the class since he committed - did the Senior hudl abate any of those feelings?

His film is pretty much him just throwing 145 lb kids around. Tough to have a clue how he stacks up against actual competition

Helps to have a really good one, hurts not to... something you likely only need to allocate once every 4-5 years

User name and all for me but this is the kind of shit Bill Belichick does with the Patriots.  He always seems to draft a long snapper and specific guys to be gunners on special teams along with the return specialist type guys.  He apparently thinks special teams is a key to a football team's success and makes sure that there are key people in those positions.  Not sure if that works in college with the limited scholarships.

From Gerry:

On3 Consensus 4-star WR Shazz Preston (Saint James, La.) will announce his decision at around 2pm on ESPN Signing Day Special.

There will be four hats on the table.

Alabama, Texas, LSU and Georgia.

Shazz was one of those I thought of last night when they were saying it was a WR and being rumored from a DFW-centric coaching source.

He may be down in the boot, but outside of Burton it is one of the few that really make any sense as far as a big get that is speed...

The next 16 hours are going to be nutty, and I’m all in for it.  I think Sark and Co. are about to flex!  Here’s how we close -

Agbo

Campbell

Stewart

Wease (transfer)

Watts (transfer)

Brooks

Perkins

I’m conceding Harris to aggy…can’t take them all.

We aren't getting Perkins, but if we can somehow pull Brooks or Harris and a freshman receiver then I don't know what more you could ask for in this class.

Spoiler

— Kyle Flood is on a run right now. The Texas offensive line coach secured three major pledges over the span of three days adding Kelvin Banks, Cameron Williams and Neto Umeozulu to the fold. The push for Umeozulu was very impressive given the recent buzz surrounding Oklahoma in this recruitment coming off of his visit to Norman. We were told that the trip went about as well as one could and most of the talk in the industry centered around the Sooners for Umeozulu. The four-star Allen prospect is as quiet as they come, so there was always a little chance for intrigue. Despite that visit and buzz, Texas made sure they stayed in contact and leaned on what they could sell. I'll go into more detail after the season, but Neto didn't have the best official visit experience in Austin from what I was told. Still, his conversation with Kyle Flood may have salvaged the trip overall. Flood really connected with him and sold him on a vision of development. The business school opportunities at Texas were also massive. Umeozulu and his parents were serious about his education, and no school he was seriously considering could match the prestige of McCombs. All-told, this may be the most impressive win for Flood. There was a feeling that he'd eventually get Banks and Williams, but not many people had Umeozulu trending toward Texas. Umeozulu actually called yesterday morning to commit from what I was told by a source at Allen, but Flood asked him to go home and talk it over with his parents to make sure. Both sides had a productive call last night leading to the decision.

— Flood's hot streak has him rated as the No. 10 recruiter in the country, according to the 247Sports recruiter rankings. The scary thing is, he still has a few targets on the board. I believe four-star offensive tackle Malik Agbo will be a Horn when he makes his decision tomorrow (4 PM Central Time) on CBS Sports HQ. From there, Texas will go about trying to finish off the high school class with elite interior lineman Devon Campbell. I spoke to sources about the longtime Texas lean yesterday who reiterated that he will carry his decision either to the Under Armour All-American Game or February. Steve Wiltfong is also hearing the same. A source near Campbell told me he's in decision-making mode at the moment which is why he didn't take his trip to Georgia. This race is down to Texas, Alabama and Oklahoma, and I think the Longhorns have a good lead. I've said several times that this recruitment reminds me quite a bit of the Alfred Collins recruitment in the 2020 class. Texas seemed to be the longtime leader there, and they won out in February despite pushes from other schools in the fall. Texas fans will need to exercise some patience, but I believe Flood can finish February with the five-star.

— I checked in with sources around Denver Harris yesterday. A source at North Shore told me they weren't sure about where the five-star corner was headed, but they'd put their money on Texas A&M if they had to right now. Another source I spoke with echoed that same sentiment. I put my pick in for the Aggies earlier this week, and while I've heard some confidence on the Texas side, my experience covering recruiting sees the signs pointing toward A&M. I do think Texas can flip Terrance Brooks when he makes his decision tomorrow morning. The family has been debating over this college decision and there are a lot of people near them who feel Texas can win him over because of playing time and education.

— Don't worry about numbers right now because they are extremely fluid. As guys jump in, the math changes every day. That means that some guys making decisions this week might not have a spot when it comes time to decide. We detailed the number situation in this week's edition of The Stampede, but the staff will have to adjust on the fly. That might mean guys we have predicted could suddenly drop off the board. Of course, there are a few elites the staff would absolutely make room for, but this is going to be a circus-level juggling act for the personnel department.  That could also involve some tough conversations with current commits.  Everything is fluid right now.

— Jacoby Mathews announced today that he would be pushing his recruitment to February. I have a hard time seeing Texas pull that one out from today's vantage point, but it does give them more time to work on him. Speaking of other targets in The Boot, four-star wide receiver Shazz Preston seems to be trending to Alabama at the moment despite a good push from Texas. Nobody knows what Shreveport (LA.) Captain Shreve ATH Kendrick Law will do. Law is a complete wildcard, but someone I talked to last night thinks he might end up in Tuscaloosa as well. Texas will continue to push there for the versatile athlete.

Clearly:

  • Saban is retiring. Assistants are aware and are making plans for their future
  • Ofc we're not dumpster diving to fill up WR. When Coleman is replaced, they'll bring a starter with them
  • Holmon Wiggins has (reportedly) the best relationship with Preston of the schools recruiting him

Draw your own conclusions.
