I'm confused.  If our background check turned up so many issues with Beard, why did A&M want to hire him?  And in what world is 3.5 weeks firing someone "immediately"?  Beard was given plenty of chances to at least act contrite but he chose to double down.  I'd call that another red flag, Billy.

Aggy can return to talking about honor and moral superiority now that Beard has rejected them.

Well that, plus, Texas absolutely did not have to fire him.  Texas could have kept him, and then when the charges were dropped, acted like everything was okay.

Which would have been the wrong thing to do.

Just like the ags attempting to hire him was  the wrong thing to do.

I know Liucci is in perpetual Baghdad Bob mode, but between Fisher, Schloss, and Williams/Beard, he's having to do overtime. Wait until they eventually hire someone and Liucci has to spin it as a better hire than Miller. And none of it matters, because if the guy wins he's going to leave, and if he loses - specifically compared to Miller - it's simply business as usual.

In terms of my entertainment value it was the right thing to do, so I beg to differ.

Texas A&M basketball is looking to move quickly in their pursuit of a replacement after Buzz Williams headed out the door to Maryland. In that vein, the Aggies— given the constant talk about a possible departure by Williams— seemed to have identified their top target even before things became official.

It didn't take long to see that said top target was Chris Beard, current head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels. Beard, who took Texas Tech to within seconds of a national championship a few years back, would have been a real coup to steal away from Oxford— though not one that would have come without controversy.

image.png.4a08524214b12d9e16bf1d66c9498b2f.png

The smoke was strong around this possibility this morning, with a lot of confidence emanating from A&M's side dating back to last night. However, reports are now starting to surface that are causing that confidence to falter.

Reports emerging that Chris Beard has turned down Texas A&M basketball
After a hard charge from the Aggies, On3 is reporting that Chris Beard has elected to stay in Oxford. This decision comes on the heels of a reported bump in NIL commitment by the Rebels.

image.png.31bdbd776eafd590e37a69a99a81ec27.png

With things having been so public on the A&M side regarding their confidence in landing this plane, this is a bit of an embarrassing moment. This is a guy that would have been tough to unseat, of course, but the level of assuredness that A&M people had about this led a lot of fans to believe that this was a done deal.

(BV Editorial: Kinda like this?

If these reports are true, the Aggies now have to figure out a plan B here. Whether that's moving towards Grant McCasland up at Texas Tech, looking over to High Point, or going to the assistant ranks— or elsewhere— it looks like the coaching search just got extended in Aggieland.

STSU was the #1 party school in the US back in the day, per Playboy.  I worked at Safeway on Riverside Drive in '74. During some spring campus party/festival, San Marcos ran out of beer, and people drove up to Austin to get some.

Uh…..that would be Chicago.

Beard gets a raise and doesn’t have to move to College Station…..I’d call that a BIG win-win!

They're good at log stacking. Oh, wait...

Liucci doesnt really give any fucks as long as the money rolls in. And it will keep rolling in, because those stupid weird fucks have nowhere else to go. Nobody wants to hang out with aggy except other aggy. So back to texags and the chicken! Good Bull!

My terrestrial radio in my car is often on ESPN Austin, along with a few local indie FM music stations.  I don't drive much, I mostly work from home, but I had to run out to the store tonight and had the distinct displeasure of hearing Trey "Boner" Elling and Justin Wells talking Texas football, and I almost ran off the road in disgust.  Looch isn't the only idiot in the media fleecing the constituents.

The three other people listening appreciated their take.

Anyone know a Caldwell realtor? They'd have the best idea who the new coach will be.

I think I see why they haven't won a men's title anyone cares about since the days of Hitler invading Poland.

Any coach with the considerable intelligence and ability necessary to win in that horrible cult environment is too smart to ever accept a job in that horrible cult environment.

Peeked into texags live to get a laugh at the misery and caught last 5-10 minutes. Marcel Reed is only a 185 lbs. Hoping he gets to 190. Wow. That’s light for murderers row as much as they’ll run RPO.

Yeah, a rail running CK’s offense is a recipe for the 2nd string QB to get in by week 3.

I happen to agree, but in a odd fortuitous moment I was burning some time in Laguna Beach and opted to stroll the Laguna Beach Art Museum. They had a full installation of Helen Lunderberg

I was absolutely amazed and impressed by her work.

That they can never connect the reality of 1, 2 and 3 not being real with the check marks and results is just perfect aggie logic.

This post so perfectly capture aggie hive mind that we should...
