vince young maxed out at around 74 yards, but sure, 14 year old quinn was throwing 80+. anybody who believes that has probably sent money to multiple nigerian princes.

Unless the person claiming it is a self sack, whomever the fuck that is, he will need to know the o line scheme of the play, what the backs were supposed to do and what routes were adjusted or not. Also what the defense did.
Just because a QB turns into a rushing defender does not mean it is a fucking self sack.
Jesus how hard is it for you and your other screen name to understand.
I would call it a "self sack" if:

- the QB runs out of bounds behind the LOS without throwing it away first.

- the QB has time but sees all of his options covered and decides to tuck it and gets tackled behind the LOS rather than chucking it OOB over a receivers head.

Either of those two instances have an option that doesn't lose yards, but the QB decided not to take it.

Now, tucking it and getting tackled 2 seconds after getting the ball because someone whiffed on a block is not a self-sack.

He was around 16 when he chucked it 80ish yards. Back in the day the video was on maxpreps.com. Then tOSU put one out on IG or Twitter of him throwing about 80ish when he was there. You can probably still find those videos everywhere through a Google search. Whatever happened seemed to have happened between 18 and 20, but it was clear he didn't have the same arm strength after the Bama game in 2023. It doesn't look like he's capable of throwing more than maybe mid-60s now except maybe once in a blue moon, and it's looked that way since early two seasons ago.

And VY is a weird comparison. He had that weird wind up and almost shot put motion. VY had to have been really muscling it to get over 70ish. It probably would have been more apt to shit on 14-year-old Ewers by comparing him to Roethlisberger, who threw that 80+ yard incompletion 5 or 6 years ago that was all over Sportscenter for a while. It's harder to believe that 14-year-old Ewers threw 80 yards if Roethlisberger and his perfect throwing motion at 6'5" threw 80 yards at the farthest.

It's stuff like this that really makes it difficult to engage you civilly. There's easy-to-find video out there of Ewers doing these things, but you decided to insult people instead of fact-checking yourself.

saying that ewers couldn’t throw 80+ in middle school  is “shitting on” him. i’m not sure there’s a more accurate, concise encapsulation of this thread.

Quinn throwing in the Dolphins minicamp.

Couple of observations.

1 - Kenneth Grant is taking shit seriously.
2 - There was neither a sack nor a self sack involving Ewers.  Chum for the haters.

I'll just jump in for a second to bring up something that occurs to me often when I hear this from Sark or the sports mafia that reports on the Horns:

We often hear about "that TD (or big play) was a result of (QB) changing the play at the line. I called a different play, but he saw the defense was (in whatever formation), made the change, and the result was (great play)."

We never hear about the times when the QB changes the play and it ends up being a complete clusterfuck that ends up in a turnover (INT, loss of downs, etc) or DOESN'T change the play because they didn't read the defense properly and the play gets blown up or stopped for a loss.

How many times have we all yelled "WTF?!?" after a stupid 4th down play or "WHY IS HE THROWING DEEP WHEN WE ONLY NEED 2 YARDS?!?" We blame Sark for the playcall, but who's to say it wasn't Quinn changing the play or NOT changing the play (if warranted)?

Sure, it's great when it works, but there are usually a ton of mistakes that led us to the point of needing that great play. It's like shooting double-bogey on every hole but saying you had a great round because you chipped in for birdie on the 18th to beat your playing partner by 1 stroke.

You are pathetic.

I’m struggling to take anything away from those clips. Just look like some basic drills.

I mean just look at his jersey, it looks bunched up and his shoe lace loops are a little too long.

The fact that they only show a few of the receptions is an interesting choice.

The only knock I have in those basic drills is the throw at  around 1:12 mark where the receiver had to dive to catch the ball, so no YAC possibility. Without any defenders, the QB needs to throw the ball where the WR can catch it standing up.

Or the WR needs to run faster.

Or, Ya know, it's like day 2.

Probably been said before but Miami is an actually a great spot for Quinn. McDaniel is a good QB coach and Tua is made of glass. If they can approve his pocket awareness, he can probably have a pretty solid backup career.

pocket awareness much like accuracy isn’t something that can be coached. But I definitely agree Miami is the perfect spot for him due to their offense style and having lowest depth of target in the nfl.

Yep. Every successful QB is just born accurate and aware, and there are no drills or coaching techniques for it and never were. Nailed it.

I get what you're saying but not hitting the WRs in strides is one of the knocks on Quinn. As a 7th round pick, he is not going to get too many chances to prove himself, so every rep needs to be crisp.

That’s literally correct. Those are two things they have or don’t have.

you can try and coach it but reality is most QBs only marginally improve or don’t improve accuracy at all

you can’t coach a 11 second 100m guy to be a 10 second 100m guy. It’s just traits and skills that people have.
