I'm not ready to overreact to a preseason performance where both teams are more interested in staying healthy and trying things out than actually winning the game. He still has many of the same tendencies that bothered us, but he also has an incredible arm and with the right attitude he will improve at reading NFL defenses. He knows he's in a competition with Wilson, so that added mental pressure also could have affected his splitsecond decisionmaking. Zach Wilson has been in the league long enough that we can be pretty confident he's not going to get any better, so if we're grading on a curve I wouldn't feel great about my job security, if I'm Wilson.

Lots of room for improvement for Ewers, that's for damn sure.

I just don’t see this incredible arm.  Looks average to me.

With blindness this bad, the NFL has a referee job open for you.

He's a fucking tease. has the throws, but just can't get it done when the pressure is coming at him like that.

if there were a hall of fame for throwing drills against air he would be first ballot.

Quinn's high got us some sweet victories, but his lows would have sunk us.  Thank God the defense had something to say about the season.

He played like an average college qb once he got nicked up each year.  Offense would go into a coma far too often with walking wounded Quinn.   He played like a good college qb when healthy.  That just wasn’t very often.  I wasn’t surprised by his draft position. He needed to be healthy all season for once and play well all season.

This was as bad as the stat line looks.  He was throwing into first read coverage, he was late, he looked like the game was just too fast for him.  Now, he's a rookie and he'll get more reps, so it can't be shocking to anyone, but I'm sure we all hoped for better.  I'm watching the Louisville, Shough, right now and he doesn't look particularly good, but he's having a better game than Quinn.... by a lot.  Dart had a much better debut.  Fuck, Joe Milton looked better and he was terrible.  Let's hope he has a better game next week.  May end up on the PS if he's not much better next week.

Edit:  Final Stats:  That fumble is baaaaddd.....

To date, all but 1 or 2 of the rookie QBs look like steaming garbage.  Might explain 2 in round 1 and 5 in the first 3 rounds.  With the ownership preferential salary scale, only 2 were taken in round 1 and the 2nd was a “WTF” pick.

In 2024, 6 were picked in the first round.  The guys picked in the 5th and 6th round (Rattler, Travis, and Milton) all suck, but they look better than every 2025 QB take outside round 1 in 2025.

Maybe, just maybe, the NFL guys know what they are doing.  :)

Him claiming his wideouts did him no favors as a whole

At least 3 of those passes were drops that were on the money, and a 4th was at best a miscommunication. I only saw one pass completion where Ewers was a little off and the guy made a play on the ball.

Have no earthly idea why Sark hitched his wagon to him after the Georgia debacle. We had a very winnable schedule up until aggy & the playoffs and it would have been a great time to ramp Arch up. Our ceiling was always limited with this guy’s weaknesses.

This vibrates on the same frequency as “we didn’t lose, we just ran out of time.”

Glad I'm not a Dolphins fan, because they won't be winning any games this season if they keep playing like they did today.

Did you watch the cowboys yesterday? They looked worse

He has some weird aversion to just planting his foot in the ground and not lobbing the ball to his target. That will never change.

Think Dallas Turner had something to do with that.

He has to have a better showing the rest of the pre-season if he wants to be in the roster unless they decide to keep 3 QBs.

Lol what NFL team doesn't roster 3 QBs?

I guess some do and some don't. I figured most rostered 3.

Stupidity Are You Stupid GIF

A pass tipped at the line. A bonehead fumble in the (opponent’s) red zone. A 4th down conversion. A receiver making a jumping catch. An overthrown lob at the first sign of pressure. I’m impressed at Quinn’s consistency with playing exactly the same on the next level.

It's the least of his problems, personified on that first strip where three big issues reared their head, again - terrible pocket presence / awareness, limited mobility and bad ball security.  End result was an easy sack for the defender, a takeaway and a 7-point mistake in a situation where you absolutely have to avoid it all costs. Problem is, Ewers simply isn't equipped to avoid those type mistakes and they're even further accentuated at this level where everyone is faster, quicker and stronger.  Didn't need a crystal ball to see it - those issues, and others, aren't going away.

There was next to nothing I saw from Quinn today that gave me confidence that he'll be in the league 2 years from now.

His feet are slow and horrible in general. He's inaccurate, his balls have no pace on them, and he has bad pocket presence.

Even if they fix his footwork on his throws, he won't make it through his drop nearly fast enough to make it work in the NFL.

They'll play him in shotgun more, but then the playbook is very limited and he struggles to read defenses as is.

Glad he came to Texas though, hopefully he can work hard and carve out a place for himself but it doesn't look likely after that showing.

He might have always been a 7 on 7 program QB, but I think Dallas Turner broke him for good.

Are we really doing this? I saw 2 drops and a lot of skittish vibes in the pocket.

Quinn sucked but heaven forbid an NFL WR catch the ball.

Quinn is the only qb who plays with shitty wide receivers

Give him some credit dude. He only had the Lombardi winner, 3 top 50 picks at WR and 2 TEs drafted the last 2 years to work with.
