The first sack was 100% not his fault. The first two of his plays were a comedy of errors from his supporting cast.

The second sack... really looked like a patented Ewwers self-sack tho.

Man, when he's got a couple of years in the league and if he stays healthy and can figure out the pocket presence thing, he's going to be great, because I watched a lot of football today and when he's on, nobody throws a nicer pass.

He's finally at a point where just trusting his arm talent isn't going to be enough to really succeed.

If if if….he ain’t going to make shit. Just stop. 90% sack rate when eyes drop isn’t good at all.

Yea don’t talk about what Ewers needs to change to do well in the league. This thread is about rehashing old arguments for the 1000th time.

Sure if only we hadn’t been saying this shit for years already.

Not sure I’ve ever seen a qb figure out pocket presence if they don’t have it after 10-15 starts in college.

Pocket awareness isn't taught in the NFL. If a player doesn't have it and the ability to run progressions quickly in college they aren't developing it in the NFL where things are so much faster.

From ESPN’s 53 man roster projection for Miami:

image.thumb.png.1d40301c210beac09d4fec35573fda14.png

based on the preseason Miami is going to be scouring the waiver wire for a veteran QB.. The gross negligence at the position this offseason borders on criminal.

I've seen articles ranging from Ewers being cut a certainty to him remaining a certainty. That range all stems from the fact that the Miami QB room is a complete fucking mess. Gross negligence is being really kind.

The ones with him being cut are from 2 weeks ago. I haven’t seen a recent one where he doesn’t make the team.

They already did that and ended up paying Wilson $6 million guaranteed.

From yesterday

6 Hours ago: Can the Dolphins find room on the 53-man roster? That's the million-dollar question. Well, more like the $6 million question, as that's how much money they guaranteed Zach Wilson to back up Tua Tagovailoa this season. If the Dolphins believe Ewers can eventually supplant Wilson as the No. 2, they will need to find a way to keep three quarterbacks on their 53.

More from yesterday

The $6 million contract Miami gave Zach Wilson seems to be the big issue. In positive news, Green Bay seems to cherish the idea of Quinn getting cut.

Zach Wilson is terrible, and has by many thought to have dropped below Ewers, but not all agree.

Net is, still discussions on if Quinn stays or not.

The point being that people are still talking about it when you claimed they stopped 2 weeks ago which is categorically false.

Fair. Regardless of what media are talking about, Miami has a legit QB room issue. The Wilson contract was a bad move. I don’t know enough about Tua's contract to comment on it nor if Miami has the cap room to keep Ewers and Wilson. So I'll plead ignorance in that regard. I do know that a 3 deep of Tua, Wilson and Ewers won't make the Miami fans happy unless something miraculous occurs. Smoking some hopium, maybe Quinn steps up and ends up taking over for Tua after he is invariably injured. I have serious doubts but..

It seems odd that any team would not keep 3 QBs.  Odds are at least one goes down during the season so that 3rd guy will be active at some point.  I suppose it’s that teams don’t view the 3rd guy as much.  There’s talk that Sam will not make the roster.  Obviously I’m a homer, but it’s difficult to imagine that whomever number 53 is proves more valuable than Sam.

Miami is ride or die with Tua - as they should. He’s one of the few quality starters in the league (injury concerns notwithstanding.)

The best outcome for Miami IMHO is that Tua stays healthy and Ewers continues to improve so they can launch Wilson after the season is over.

Of not then Atlanta is eagerly waiting for their call…

I've never really kept track of QB 3s prior to this year. It's a unique situation in that both Miami and Cleveland were being closely watched. Would love some input from someone with more insight on that aspect.

Yeah, Tua is good, if healthy.

If is doing a lot of heavy lifting though.

Is Miami in worse or better shape than Cleveland regarding QB room. Cleveland being the consistent floor of the NFL with Dallas attempting a shot at the crown.

I have not either, but it was previously stated that all AFC teams kept 3 last year.  You can use the 3rd guy to get an extra active roster spot for each game too.  You get to expand the GameDay roster to 49 for the 3rd QB and only the 3rd QB.

Quinn will be on a NFL roster whether it is Miami or somewhere else.

I think he will stick with the Dolphins but a lot of NFL teams are stupid so who knows.

There are at least two teams where he would start, now, at his current level: Saints and Colts. People here are talking about the Dolphins' QB room being garbage... Tua, when healthy, is a fine starting NFL QB. The real problem with the Dolphins is the rest of the team is kinda shitty (though they have at least one franchise RB).

Any player with less than 4 accrued seasons must clear waivers before they can be re-signed. Ewers will almost definitely be claimed if the Dolphins cut him IMHO. The Raiders, Saints, Colts, Jets, and Panthers all need a better backup.

Apparently the Cheesehead media thinks the same. 😉

if a team only has two on active roster there’s always at least one on the practice squad.

I can confidently say Ewers is better than Wilson. Good for Ewers if he makes the team. I hope he's progressed and isn't thrown into a game after Tua takes his 17th concussion.

Yeah, I can’t imagine Tua getting many more concussions before he’s forced to retire.

I’m sure that’s the case, but they aren’t protected there.  If somebody wants your #3, he’s gone one would think.  Then if you lose your #1, you’re scrambling for a #2.
