man, that is one moment that really exemplifies the "political creature" thinking on things.

fucking awful.

People frown on younger blood being high up in government because of a "lack of experience", but this is the shit you get from 80 year old politicians who have been in Washington since the Reagan years. Enough of this shit.

Wow, never liked her.  But I kinda respected the back-and-forth she had with Trump for a few months last year.  But this is just sad.  I'd like to say, "Well, you know what she meant."  But nope, she literally meant what she said, word-for-word.  She thinks she was honoring him.  I like Biden, but seems like the rest of the party leadership is back to being shitheaps once again.  Wow, somebody click deflate on her.

it sure is easier to look smart when you are sparring vs Trump.  I guess she really misses that backdrop to work from.  Just a mind-numbingly stupid thing to think much less say out loud regarding a murder victim.

I think that the criticism is a bit overblown. Certainly a better way to communicate around the issue, but feels like people just looking for nits to pick. Like the people flipping out over the tweet from the Raiders account. Dunking on allies.

It's not "our way."  she's a fucking out-of-touch shitbag.  So much more talent and passion in her party's ranks.  Fucking Hoyer and Clyburn are both one more iHOP meal away from dying.  Fuck ageism, they're all over 80 and can't go off-script because they'll use their phones to google shit like, "I'd like to personally thank George Floyd's corpse taking one for the team."

This seems like a good place to mention that a fuck ton of left-leaning posters are condemning her on this issue, while I haven’t heard peep from our resident conservatives about MTG, Boebert, Hawley, Cruz, or anyone else on that side who have done and said FAR worse things over the past days/weeks/months/years. I’m sure they just forgot.

Yeah, you're right...before that...she never demonstrated any indications that she was out of touch and only in it for the power.

The clip just further proves what me and every non-Trumper ever knew...it's time for her to move on.  Plenty of good people in her party to take the gavel.  And our nation is gonna need that somebody very, very soon.

I understand a 5 second clip is evidence that all of your perceptions were correct.

This is such a weird take. How long did it take Trump to call nazis very fine people?

She said something stupid and offensive. It's not bad to criticize her for it.

Equating the very fine people on both sides quote to Nancy’s 5 sec clip should probably be avoided for a lot of reasons.

I didn’t say it is bad to critique. My position is that a 5 second clip shouldn’t be considered evidence to support all of lobo’s old lady Nancy fantasies. I was also pointing out the collective convulsions of melted twitter brains - I like to mock twitter overreactions

yeah, it was a gaffe, at worst. but it's also true that she should probably not be the spokesperson for the Dems in that particular moment. But whatever

My old lady fantasies?  The critique of Pelosi as speaker have been espoused by dozens of loyal liberals on here and millions of them nationwide.  I merely pointed out this is the latest straw that should break the back of the camel that needs to carry her out of leadership is all.  Mother Jones, the Atlantic, And a lot of other progressive outlets have wanted her to step side from many, many years.
how do you not know that?

I'm pointing out that a 5 second clip isn't really an excuse for an old lady fetish or really anything else

It’s not the excuse.  It’s part of a pattern with her.  That’s how patterns are formed, several smaller pieces indicating a history and a future.  People don’t just wake up disconnected one morning.  They exhibit a pattern of behavior for many years that you can observe and then use to foresee future behaviors.  It also works with objects, animals, climate, and most of the known universe.
Before those five seconds and after those five seconds, I observe her as needing to step down. But during those five seconds, she was top notch.  How’s that?

Negged for repeating a distortion to make Pelosi appear crazy and disoriented.

From Fox Fucking News: She was hosting an event in honor of Billie Jean King who is present at this statement.

Pelosi was being amusing referencing the honoree, and likely her statement about having mentioned King to Zelenskyy isn't to be taken literally unless you have [what's that terrifying word the GЯP likes so much? oh yea!] a hidden agenda.

Portraying wit as senility. Here's to you, Mr. Amateur Operative. Budweiser salutes your total disregard for facts or your own integrity. Put on your team jersey and have a cold one. Kill America one sip at a time.

Negged for doubling down on a lie and not even caring about what is true. Can you prove that that Pelosi did what you claim? Can you prove that, if she did, Zelenskyy did not himself understand the context? You make an assertion. Back it up.

The obviously well-intentioned tweet you quote doesn't even mention that King was there. That's willful dishonesty that you endorse by quoting it yourself.

I was tempted to give you pos rep for absolutely defining yourself, but I just can't encourage this kind of thing.

You're particularly poor at sophistry. What was the intent of the tweet you quote? That intent is a lie.

Here is the portion of the transcript from which that is taken to aid in your efforts. Nancy was speaking at her weekly press conference which combines several topics because she is capable of having more than one thing on her plate. She is seguing from one topic to the next because to open with Ukraine (which is what most of the press questions would be and were about) overshadows what was a scheduled event, in fact, scheduled prior to the situation in Ukraine. That is not to diminish the importance of Ukraine, but her opening is about women for the month devoted to their accomplishments, and God knows, we can't open a conference with them being talked about first and certainly not that *gasp* lesbian, Billie Jean King. King, of course, being empathetic, offering up sympathy for the leader of another country under duress and Pelosi passing that on, transitions into the next topic, Ukraine. Ohmergawd, stop the presses, Nancy is a lunatic.

Speaker Pelosi.  Good afternoon, everyone.

This has been quite a day.  But I have to tell you that we began the day – this being Women's History Month — honoring women in history.  And one of them is in the present: Billie Jean King came.  We all basked in the glow of Billie Jean King as we honored Patsy Mink.

This – in the next couple of months, we'll observe the 50th anniversary of Title IX.  And Title IX, you know what that meant for women in education as well as sports activities.  That word was very important in the law.  Patsy Mink made it happen.  Pretty soon, we'll have a statue – excuse me, a painting, a picture of Patsy Mink and – a more obvious display in the Capitol.  She was the first woman of color to serve in the Congress of the United States.

But today we had the Sidwell Friends basketball team — which are the all‑out champions — their coach.  We had Wendy Mink, the daughter of Patsy Mink.  So again, I start with something that we had been looking forward to, that we savored at the time and take great pride in.  In fact, when I spoke to President Zelensky, I said, ‘Billie Jean King sends you her regards and wants to know how she can help.’

In any event – so here we are, with very serious legislation on the Floor today.  And the legislative process, sausage‑making that it is, it's working its way.  We'll be back on the Floor shortly.  We'll have a bipartisan omnibus bill, a funding bill that includes $13.6 billion in funding for Ukraine, humanitarian, economic and military – defense spending.  A separate funding package to continue the battle about coronavirus that we are taking out of the omnibus.  And of course, that I mentioned, the omnibus bill.  And then we have a bill, a sanctions bill banning import of Russian oil and energy products, not just oil, into the U.S. and taking other steps to isolate Russia in the world, including a review of their participation in the WTO, the World Trade Organization.

Continues but I've cut that off for brevity. It goes on to discuss Ukraine further as well as other topics followed by a Q and A with media.

I think she's on campus right now as we speak.  Which will upset many, many alums.  I don't care for her myself, but she bothers Trump...so high-five, I say!

Well, it looks like Pelosi will now have to travel outside of the SF Archdiocese in order to receive communion. What happened to the well formed Catholic conscience being upright and truthful?

Catholic News Agency

quote:
Washington, D.C. Newsroom, May 20, 2022 / 13:03 pm

Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone announced on Friday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi should not be admitted to Holy Communion in the Archdiocese of San Francisco, nor should she present herself to receive the Eucharist, until she publicly repudiates her support for abortion.

Cordileone said on May 20 that the step was “purely pastoral, not political” and came after Pelosi, D-Calif., who has described herself as a “devout Catholic,” repeatedly rebuffed his efforts to reach out to her to discuss her abortion advocacy.

Cordileone said that he sent the notification to Pelosi, “a member of our archdiocese,” on May 19. The Democratic leader did not immediately respond publicly to Cordileone’s announcement after it was released to the media Friday afternoon. In a 2008 interview with C-SPAN, Pelosi said being denied Communion would be “a severe blow,” describing herself at the time as a “regular communicant.

Here are the sins for which one must receive absolution before receiving Communion. Why then, is Pelosi being singled out?

If one has not gone to confession first,  one must  NOT receive Holy Communion if HE OR SHE IS GUILTY of having committed  the following  MORTAL sins, KNOWING that they are GRAVE and in spite of that, FREELY CHOSE to do it:

1. Having MISSED a SUNDAY or HOLY DAY MASS WITHOUT a valid reason (i. e., out of laziness, giving priority to sports, shopping, parties etc.)

2. Having SEX OUTSIDE of marriage, with ONE’S SELF (masturbation) or with SOMEONE else (either opposite or same sex); having voluntarily indulged in pornography.

3. COHABITING with someone WITHOUT BEING MARRIED IN THE CHURCH and LIVING as if they were spouses (either with opposite or same sex)

4. Having DESECRATED the Holy Eucharist or committed the sin of SACRILEGE (by receiving Holy Communion without being in the state of grace, i.e., free of any mortal sins)

5. Having used CONTRACEPTIVES (pills, condoms, IUD’s, patches)

6. Having committed ABORTION, encouraged someone to abort, or participated in the abortion

7. Having committed MURDER or participated in the destruction of lives, including embryos and mercy-killing or euthanasia. Having committed acts of violence, physical, verbal, psychological abuse against other persons and their integrity.

8. Having committed GRAVE INJUSTICE towards one’s subordinates or co-employees etc. or in the exercise of one’s profession (for example, unjust wages, retainment of wages, unjust accusation, false testimony, defamation, calumniesunjust firing of employeeskickbacks, corruption
