I actually don't mind Taylor Swift. Listen to some of her stuff, and about every other genre. Sydney must be having a mid-life crisis. He's complaining about old people in multiple threads, despite the fact he's pretty old too. Methinks he doth protest too much.

The Graduate is a banger, even if (or, really, in part because) Dustin Hoffman's character is such a colossal tool.

And it’s a damn fine inclusion in the walk of life project

It’s true, he is Robert’s father?

I’m pretty sure I combined the names Robert Earl Keen and James Earl Jones. Oh well. So if I add the fact that he went to Sharpstown High School - I’ll probably screw up and find out he went to Westbury.

To kind of tie this to the music theme, Mrs. Robinson is just a fantastic song. And I'm not usually a fan of a ton covers, but I thought the Lemonheads did it justice

  1. Saying that Taylor is better than The Who is objectively incorrect, but hey, it takes all stripes I guess.
  2. That said, Taylor is great. One billion times more talented than all the knock off versions like Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan.
  3. Exception to #2 is Olivia Rodrigo. She fucks.
  4. I fuck with Huntr/x heavily right now and I don’t care who knows it. That shit goes.
  5. Yes, I do have pre-teen daughters, how did you know?  My dudes, it gets so, so much worse than Taytay and Huntr/x. Be thankful for the wins when you get them.
  6. God damn it we really need some news and/or the season.
  7. I hate you all and this thread. And myself.
  8. Picture attached below to add something of value to the thread.

Taylor Swift is generally more enjoyable to listen to than The Who, someone's gotta say it. (But it was obviously a Jake Kreul reference).

Are you fucking stupid or something?

I was born in 1979. On this board that doesn’t make me middle aged.

Objectively based on what criteria? Album sales? #1 hits? If you’re going to say objectively, you’ve got to use factual merits.

Food, particularly Texas-related food, and music. Both of these things are wildfire when it comes to magnetizing the worst kinds of fucking dorks residing on this site. The only thing more dangerous to play with is politics. How do we take things in a different direction here? Should I just make up some recruiting shit?

Give us some dirt on the other teams.  What are you hearing about LSU and Coach Ozempic?

Not sure how to even compare the two. Who was the better player... Seve Ballesteros or Bernie Kosar?

That's easy ...

Spoiler

Swift, the girlfriend of Travis Kelce, and Kosar enjoyed a lunch at the tight end's Missouri home

“He loved Bob Dylan,” Hendrix producer Eddie Kramer told Sound on Sound. “He was fascinated by the color of the lyrics and the tone of the lyrics, and of course the chord sequences were wonderful. It was a very special song.”

“It overwhelmed me, really,” Dylan said of the Hendrix cover in Florida’s Sun-Sentinel. “He had such talent, he could find things inside a song and vigorously develop them. He found things that other people wouldn’t think of finding in there. He probably improved upon it by the spaces he was using. I took license with the song from his version, actually, and continue to do it to this day.”

In the booklet accompanying his 1985 album Biograph, Dylan added, “I liked Jimi Hendrix’s record of this and ever since he died I’ve been doing it that way . . . Strange how when I sing it, I always feel it’s a tribute to him in some kind of way.”

One of my favorite stories of genius obsession leading to historic greatness. Hendrix wore everyone around him out working through getting that song perfect. Some have argued that is cosmically contributed to his untimely death not long afterward.

If Taylor swift were playing a kolache factory to support the Texas one fund, how early would you get there and what would you order?

Chicken fajita kolache, a bowl of 3-bean vegan chili, and a vodka martini.

"I heard Julian Sayin would have committed to Texas were it not for Arch.  He wanted to come here so bad.

Finley's recruitment is not over. It is expected that the siren song to Austin and Texas' final offer will be enough to tip the scales in Texas' favor.

Kruel will be a Longhorn but will be made to understand that he's going to have to develop for a year or two but that Texas will pay him more for doing so for developing. Texas wants this just to spike the football in Oklahoma's face.

There is one currently committed Longhorn who is shaky not because he doesn't love Sark and wants to come here but is beginning to realize how big of a logjam Texas has at his position."

Interesting side note. Extensive research on men’s lives have shown that the 40’s is the second cockiest decade in a typical man’s life, behind the teens. It results from a high level of confidence built from success in relationships and career during their 20’s and 30’s.

The decade of the 50’s is when most men became more aware and philosophical about their life and the world around them. However, some men get stuck and fly through their 50’s not progressing, leading to higher levels of frustration, unhappiness, closed thinking,  and conflict in relationships.

We’ve got all types on Surly, I’m sure.

Ha. I don’t feel all that cocky. Life is just  a ceaseless string of waking up and trying not to fuck up, hopefully until I can get to retirement. Life is perpetually humbling.
