I'm not saying it's "working", but it certainly isn't helping.  I mean, if that photo is real...he looks like a discarded muppet fucked Pa Danby from "support your local sheriff" and left it in the air fryer too long.

Let he who hasn't returned from foggy London town with a pair of "Mind the Gap" thong-panties for his wife cast the first stone.

A real man buys the matching his and hers thong-panties set.

By all accounts, the "captain" was a devoted husband and father, solid citizen, and recipient of many awards, honors, honorary doctorates and inductions to various halls of fame (not the least of which was the clown hall of fame).  So basically nothing like dotard. But damn, that is one candy from a van looking son of a gun.

Lmao @Rimbo yes, I'm serious. There is no way he gets arrested the first time he doesn't show up. That's not how things work for our Our Donald

No, it's the idea that this is somehow different from any other case that's silly. Like Donald alone is getting special treatment for this.

"Innocent until proven guilty" isn't just a witty catchphrase; it's a framework around which our legal system is built.

Unless you're black. Unfortunate oversight that needs correction, that.

Wait, London Fog makes thong panties, in addition to raincoats now?  There's a moisture-proof joke in here for Melania watching Donald at trial.

So why do so many accused have to be incarcerated from arrest through completion of their trial?

they can't afford bail?

Right but why does anyone have to pay to be free before they are proven (well, found is more accurate) guilty if they are considered innocent until then?

You wanna let Timothy McVeigh or El Chapo walk out of prison because we haven't had the trial yet?  There are good arguments against the current bail system, but this isn't one of them.

No, I guess my argument is with the validity of the phrase innocent until proven guilty.  Since some accused are treated as guilty beginning with the accusation.

Yeah, it's like an NIL situation.  We're debating how many millions these top athletes get at premiere programs, which is not nothing...but 80% of NCAA (I, II, & III) players don't get anything but maybe some comped meals at a public appearance.

80% of bails are set for low level drug and non-violent offenders, and they're often set intentionally as cost prohibitive to keep jails full.  But yeah, the system also does keep legit bad guys who can do some real harm inside.  We've all watched courtroom dramas, "Your honor, we recommend bail be set at XYZ because the defendant is a flight risk or can still go back out and harm others or run his drug network or whatever..."  In Trump's case, he's literally the poster child for a flight risk.  Plane, security detail that would enable him safe passage, some 'excuse' that he had to use his past president gravitas on a humanitarian mission abroad ("Your honor, I had to go help the families of victims in Israel!  This is New York, think of the Jews!"), and can then still stir up theories among the stupids that he's now running a shadow government in exile from Qatar or Jordan or Venezuela.  Never mind his patently obvious solvency issues in the event of default.

I'd been curious what a potential maximum punishment might look like in NY. At worst, though, he'll likely get probation and some community service. With our luck, his hours served as president would likely count toward meeting.

If that’s the case he should plead guilty and be done with the whole thing. This won’t change any votes.  And yeah I did it what are you gonna do about it is more alpha than bitching about a witch hunt.

I can't remember exactly what was said but some lawyer on Twitter believes that even if convicted that Trump is likely only facing a fine and probation and that jail time is extremely unlikely due to him being considered a first offender.

That would be smart as he could sell it as a "win" (and right wing media would run with that) and how he was able to "beat the deep state".

Fox/Newsmax/OAN would ignore the entire "guilty" part and sell it as how the great dealmaker made a great deal. GOP would also run with this narrative.

There is also a notion that he might plead at the 11th hour or ask the jury to convict only on the misdemeanor level false documents charges without the connection to the other crime, that makes it a felony.

Perhaps the defense wants to wait to see if the jury pool results in at least one likely maga that will result in a hung jury.

There’s probably chatter on truth social that will self identify potential jurors to the defense team. It’s probably something subtle like looking at trump while masturbating furiously.

Good news is there is lots of precedent, though obviously not to this high level, of elected officials being tried for crimes and there were members of the jury---given the district/jurisdiction who voted for that person, and blind justice still prevailed.  However, most of them were lesser known House members, State Senators, Mayors, and the like.  This one is delicate because this one is also a cult, so they may have to prove hubris before their Orange God.  On the other hand, they follow the letter of the law and they will be hunted as traitors to the MAGA movement until the day they die.  But hey, some fun social media posts made in the meantime by them against the judges orders.  Which of course can get them stricken automatically without counting against the prosecutions automatic strike number.  Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

(JackRyanHowDoYouMakeACrewWannaGetOffTheSubmarine), "How do you entice a MAGA loyalist to want to post about their jury selection experience online, thus making them ineligible during Voir Dire.  I mean, these people never post anything inept on social media.  I mean a Bot that targets them and entices them to report back to MAGA nation about their experience couldn't possibly be designed by now.  Nah...
