Protecting national security IS an official duty, after all

So let me understand: as of now Biden is not stepping down (but it’s fluid and the clock is ticking) he could announce he’s going to step aside or he may fight until the end.

the Dems haven’t outright bludgeoned him to death they are just watching him crawl  around wounded while yelling encouraging comments about his accomplishments and legacy.

Obama may or may not have approved Clooney’s hit piece on Biden that the Biden campaign tried to stop from being published.
Dems want him to drop out but they don’t seem in agreement about supporting Harris.

And if it’s Harris and not a blitz primary or open convention they may sit on their hands and watch the country and the world burn around them. And That many voters will feel betrayed by the entire fucking process and that whoever the candidate is may outright revolt.

ok.

And this is why I want a legit third party.

The Repubs will let Trump control everything no matter what so my small sliver of hope is he is only running for a full pardon and will step down a few months after possibly winning. So I guess watch the VP sweepstakes which is very fluid and may be none of the top three candidates.

I fucking give up ladies and gents.

It's pretty clear under the last SCOTUS decision that he'd be absolutely immune from criminal prosecution for it.

This might be the most classic Dem shit of classic Dem shit we've ever seen. Having the prior president convince a Hollywood celebrity to write a NYTimes op-ed urging Biden to drop out. Jesus Christ.

Awesome, now Democrats are joining Republicans in blaming Obama for everything.  Joe Biden becoming more paranoid and insular is going to be great for everyone.

Well the scuttlebutt is Obama met with Clooney but he didn’t ask him or encourage him to write the article—he also didn’t try to persuade him not to write it either

Or Clooney was still pissed that Biden shat on his wife's seeking of arrest warrants against the official in Israel and it didn't matter what Obama said.

I think the Dems are just trying to use a little psychology to make Joe the best President he can be.

And we are watching the CHC and CBC be undermined by their own party. If Obama ok’d the Clooney hit piece then this is just the beginning of what will be destroying him short of mortally wounding him if Biden continues to dig in. It will also largely harm Harris as she is part of the ticket. So you will have some of the party mad Biden is pushed out and not vote, others supporting Harris, and others supporting a candidate yet to be named.

All the while telling us, Trump represents the greatest threat to the country and the world we have ever seen BY ENSURING that they put up a candidate that has no hope of winning.

What in the fuck????? I get that Trump is good for fundraising for Dems. I get it. But they are handing him the White House. And possibly the Senate and House. This is the solution? Help me understand this. You can’t tell people that Trump is Hitler 2.0 and then say your solution is to destroy your own party rather than fight. And then later blame the voters.

I also think it got missed that Trump is reportedly down to 2 options for VP - Vance or Burgum.

If the GOP puts up Trump/Burgum (and let’s be real, he brings more personal wealth than Vance and Trump can just bleed him dry), you want a real good contrast with a Harris (59) and someone like Beshear (46) or Kelly (60) to go up against Trump (78) and Burgum (67)

Isn’t that what everyone has been dying for? A younger ticket? It’s right there in front of you!

Vance is a Thiel protege.  Rethink that $ math.

What color is the cake? Who is paying for this cake? Are the Republicans okay with us getting cake?  What are the short and long term consequences of cake? How old is the cake? Are tax credits available for people who decline cake? What will this cake do to the national debt? Can we delay the cake?

With so many unanswered questions death seems to be the prudent choice here. Death please.

Support Harris. Threaten everyone who steps out of line I guess. It is hard for me to fathom that there was no backup plan for defeating Trump. It’s like watching a team prepare a few weeks for a Title game and right before it starts forfeit (aggy)

Everyone complains that the Dems don't play dirty like the GQP. This is a perfect situation for them to do so, stop undermining Biden, even if you have concerns, and say he's spry and fantastic, like the other side does for dotard. But nope, let's just undermine our guy, and pretend that someone else will bring in those undecided voters to the left. I just don't understand this country.

I will say this: I’ve really grown to like and respect Fetterman. Guy is loyal. Guy is gearing up for a fight. I get it’s personal for him. But you can’t buy that kind of loyalty in Washington DC.
I wish we had term limits. No way this happens this way if all the cronies weren’t absolutely afraid of losing their individual power. It’s crap. I get Fetterman is fighting a losing battle with his brass knuckles but I’d rather go down fighting with him than the shit shadow games that are being played in response to all this.

If the only solution is to take out Biden and scream about the threat of Trump then they deserve ALL the blame and the credit for what happens next.

they would if they thought they could, imo.  too many people see how the next couple months are going to go with him forced to be in public more.

I don't get the undermine or "play dirty" angle.  We are having a loud family meeting about whether we take the keys away from dad.  If we ultimately decide to let him have the keys, everyone is going to ultimately get behind that and stick with him and it may or not be a bad decision.

If we take the keys away we are going to give them to a woman of color who might be under the influence of chardonnay while she drives.

It may or not be a bad decision.

But we'll get behind it.  Because there is no alternative.

Most potential Biden voters don't live in an alternative reality like Trump supporters.

Sticking with Biden is like whipping a dead horse. If he could just hide out and win like in 2020 I would be all for him sticking in the race but it's clear he needs to flip momentum ASAP and don't really think Biden has it in him to inspire the masses.

Media has been against Trump for 10 years. Has it mattered really? He's still able to get out there and rally his base.

To be fair, I’m def side eyeing people who make the decision based on what Hollywood rich people want.  Both sides - them trying to force Biden out and those who listen to them and won’t vote or will vote third party, a la Susan Sarandon

These people shouldn’t be listened to. They’re not special because they’re in the movies

Meh.  Dismissing them solely because they’re famous is just as narrow as listening to them just because they’re famous.  Some famous people are stupid, some are smart. Some are good, some are bad.  The “stick to sports/acting/music” bullshit is tired.

To me, that wouldn’t be playing dirty, it would just be whistling past the grave yard while destroying any perceived credibility advantage you have over the republicans.  Playing dirty to me would be orchestrating this whole fiasco with the well developed plan to have some manufactured “savior” candidate show up in the 11th hour to annihilate Trump.  Sadly, Dems are not that competent but they pulled some diabolical late-stage teamwork shit in the 2020 primary to get Biden over the finish line.  Great job Dems!

The problem with this is the majority of Dem voters are sincere in their belief system and still have a functioning moral compass.

Credibility means nothing anymore, zero, especially to people who are supposedly still on the fence in this election. Also, there is no democrat, not a single one, who can "annihilate" trump. Half this country is set that fascism and Project 2025 is a great idea. Or are paying so little attention they don't know the fucking difference and will default to whatever lies and misinformation Putin puts on social media in October.

Actually, if Biden has done once good thing in July so far, it's the Google trends for Project 2025 are through the roof.  It's more searched than Taylor Swift and the more that voters hear about it, the worse their opinion of it gets - like, in the 70s for disapproval.

Then people need to stop saying to push back against the right and to play in the mud with them. I've said over and over again that that's the difference, the people who vote D aren't the type of people who fall for that shit like the Rs. I get shouted down whenever I bring that up with "Dems are just pussies." It can't be both.

So trump's in trouble, right? His polling numbers are gonna tank? Nah, he said he doesn't know anything about it. Hunky Dory.
