So anybody in the know or understand why the City of Austin so readily agreed to the Tesla robotaxi even though everybody has a lot of questions about it? I've read up on it, but it just seemed way too easy.

I can see it being a case of them approving it, because if they don't, the state will step in, but still.  Maybe they believed that it would take years before actually happening.

I actually think he's probably hyper-focused on this right now, because if this fucks up, just a week ahead of the National Transportation Safety Board's June 19th deadline for Tesla, Trump will go hard at it and make sure everybody knows, the stock market will not like it, and the permits will be revoked (and not even the state would step in)

I wonder how much engineering effort is wasted on his whims that go nowhere.

Another example is the extended range battery pack for the ct. As you probably recall it was promised and pre-sold when the ct rolled out, and would have taken up a a large portion of the truck bed. But they quietly ditched that idea about a month ago and supposedly began the process of refunds.

Quote

"When Tesla unveiled the production version of the Cybertruck in late 2023, there were two main disappointments: the price and the range. The tri-motor version, which was the most popular in reservation tallies, was supposed to have over 500 miles of range and start at $70,000. Tesla now sells the tri-motor Cybertruck for $100,000 and only has a range of 320 miles.

As for the dual-motor Cybertruck, it was supposed to cost $50,000 and have over 300 miles of range. The reality is that it starts at $80,000, and it has 325 miles of range.

However, Tesla had devised a solution to bring the range closer to what it originally announced: a separate battery pack that sits in the truck’s bed. Tesla called it a “range extender.” It costs $16,000 and takes up a third of the Cybertruck’s bed.

Even though the Cybertruck has been in production for a year and a half at this point, the range extender has yet to launch.

Initially, Tesla said that it would come “early 2025” https://electrek.co/2025/04/05/tesla-removes-range-extender-battery-option-cybertruck/

The stupid thing about that is people arrive to Dodger Stadium from literally every direction on the compass.  This would service a miniscule number for likely  a ridiculous cost.

Not to mention the earthquake risk. It would take a special kind of mouth breather to get in a Musk built underground tunnel in an area as seismically active as LA.

Let it be known that in the first quarter of 2025 in the United States of America (such as they exist today) Tesla racked up 7,100 Cybertruck sales every day week month the entire quarter.

I said it on another thread, but it certainly goes here: any MAGAs lecturing society on "alpha males" and such shit is a fucking joke, because there are only two types of men in MAGAland: 1) Donald Trump, and 2) men who are cucks and simps for Donald Trump.

What a pathetic little beta bitch Elon Musk is.  Not a single person in his world or Trump's orbit has a non-gelatinous spine and an ounce of willingness to stand tall, strong, and independent of/in opposition to Trump.  They all drop to their knees to gobble the orange knob.  Every.  Single.  One of them.  PATHETIC.

And the MAGAts worship them as "alphas."  PATHETIC.
