of course when the schedule was made everyone thought Georgia would be beating everyone 50-0 and play name the score with Texas, Florida would be tough, Kentucky/Stoops was gonna be really good, and 3 "Rivalry" games(2 away and 1 neutral).

Pawl is a dickmunch.

Nobody thought Florida was going to be tough or Kentucky/Stoops were going to be really good though we all did expect them to be better than 1-6 in conference play.

And Pawl's issue is he left Tennessee out of the equation when they deserve the same complaints we get.  I guess losing to Arkansas took them out of the discussion but still you can't pine and whine about Texas without at least pointing out we share 7/8 common opponents with Tennessee.

Most people and national sportswriters only saw Texas play once this season and that was the home loss to Georgia.

Then they look at our schedule and see zero current top 25 teams, and they conclude that we've lost to the only decent team we've played and, therefore, shouldn't be ranked very high.

It's lazy, but that's where we are.

Compared to our conference mates we have had the easiest schedule so far

We will however pull ahead of Ole Miss, Mizzou, & Tennessee when the final games are played as a guess.

The bigger story line should be what a fucking dumpster fire the Big Ten is...

75% of the Big Ten CFP contenders have had worse schedules than us and 100% of them are likely to finish behind us when the dust settles.

And yet we're ranked third by the only organization that matters.

Georgia complaining about our strength of schedule is fucking rich. Don't get me wrong, their schedule this year is a motherfucker but those dickbags have been riding the second tier SEC east gravy train forever. Last year, Georgia essentially had a one game regular season schedule against Ole Miss (at home) and you could give them credit for a "tough" game against 9-4 Tennessee (who lost to every team they played who had a pulse). Their nonconference schedule was UAB, TN-Martin, Ball State, and Georgia Tech.

There are always going to be inequities in the conference schedules when you have way more teams than games available. That's life. Unless you want to go to a round robin like the Big 12 had and kick a few teams out, you can't control that. It's a function of luck and circumstance (and by god karma) that OU is terrible. We scheduled Michigan for fuck's sake, not Ball State. As if we planned for them to crater after a national championship.

I suppose all this could be good motivation purposes. It may not be a bad idea to play the "lack of respect" / "we haven't beaten anybody" card with the team.

tOSU got hosed with their conference scheduling. They have to play Oregon (twice probably), Penn St, and Indiana. The other three good teams only had to play tOSU,

I understand we have not been perfect, but we have played 540 minutes against teams not named Georgia.  For less than 8 of those minutes, the other team has been able to look up at the scoreboard and see a lead... and never in the second half.

Those guys are morons. They’re talking about who you’d kick out to let army in if they win out beating notre dame and they conclude that you can’t kick out any of those teams for army.

You’d kick out fucking notre dame because they’d have two losses to army and northern Illinois.

but they have the huge win at aggy on the road...and 1 huge win offsets 2 shitty losses.  just ask Ole Miss.

That's true, but something we've done that Alabama, Tennessee, and Ole Miss have not is to take care of business against everyone else. If we beat Kentucky this weekend, we will have beaten a team that beat Ole Miss on the road. None of those teams have any argument to be ranked ahead of us as two loss teams.

If anyone wants to complain about our schedule then be sure you didn't lose to one of the shitty teams on it.

I don't have a problem with anyone saying Georgia should be ranked ahead of us in the CFP rankings as a two-loss team. They're the only team whose strength of schedule should be considered and they kicked our ass. They should be ranked ahead of Ohio State as well.

The sec has no business talking down on anyone’s strength of schedule until they start playing 9 conference games. Uga and Tenn both play 2-8 ooc games this week where they’re favored by 40+, A&M played NM st last week, 2-8 favored by 40+. Bama played fucking Mercer on Saturday.

Oregon and Penn state would much rather be playing Mercer or Umass in November instead of Wisconsin & Minnesota. 2 loss sec teams practically getting a week off in November instead of playing Vandy, Arky, Kentucky, or LSU.

That's absolutely silly...whoever loses the SEC Title and Big 10 Title game are getting in.  The comitee will NOT punish the loser of those 2 games for having to play a game that no one else did.

I hate aggy, obviously...but if they beat us and lose in that game they're most likely in.

Are they bitching about Tennessee's SEC schedule?  Let's compare:

Texas          Tennessee

v. KT            v. KT

v. FLA          v. FLA

v. OU           @ OU

v. UGA         @ UGA

@ Arky        @ Arky

@ Vandy     @ Vandy

@ A&M       v. Bama

Hmmm.........

And their Non Con isn't going to be better than Texas either...

Bitching about this shit is stupid.

Beat Kentucky. Beat aggy. Beat whoever in the CCG. Beat whoever in the playoff. People will stfu.

Don’t do that and, well, diarrhea of the mouth will ensue everywhere.

Bitching has nothing to do with it.

Not knowing when that site starts tracking the lines, that was probably one of a handful of games that had lines at the beginning of the season.

It's gotta be a typo.... I imagine they opened at -12 just someone forgot to type the 1

Scattershooting...

November fatigue is real for teams with depth problems.  Heard a few analysts talk about Oregon struggles in their night game @Whisky being predictable due to so much travel and no bye game since September.  One commentator thought it was probably helpful for Oregon to be tested in a tight game.

______

Also thought the following info from Kirby was interesting:

“Kirby also talked about planning for the Playoff,” Finebaum said. “I mean, this is in the off-season. He essentially said we knew were going to lose a game or two. We just didn’t know to what degree. He was planning for a 16, 17, 18 game schedule, not the predictable 12 game schedule.”

______

An old ballcoach once said that the same team doesn't show up every week in a 12 game season and 1 or 2 challenging regular season games can be helpful before the playoffs.  Also, when you play an opponent during your schedule factors into how well your team might play.

example #1: Texas plays jawja in a physical home game then travels to Vandy the following week and struggles.

2nd example:  Catching the gators in Austin with their 3rd string QB starting.

______

All of the above was to set the table for discussions on how the heck do CFB coaches have to adjust to a 15/16 game season???  I'm glad that Sark has been able to rotate more players during the first 10 games and still currently have only 1 loss.

Matchups in the 12 team playoff bracket may be every bit as critical to winning as having the best team.  Sometimes it can come down to styles that are a tough matchup.  The example I use here is Vandy can beat Bama early in the season because Vandy is not banged up and Bama's defense while decent was not that physical.  By the time Vandy played a very physical S.Carolina team with no bye week since Sept they were toast.  So which teams will Texas matchup better against in the CFP playoffs if we get there???   Obviously jawja's defense seems like our kryptonite.  😬

Finally, just wondering how much having an easier playoff draw will likely factor into winning this new 12 team plays ???

_______

Possible Seeds

#5 PennSt vs #12 BoiseSt  then   #4 Colorado

#6 Georgia vs #11 Indy    then      #3 Miami

#7 OhioSt vs #10 Bama    then      #2 TEXAS

#8 ND vs #9 OleMiss       then     #1 Oregon

Yea, but Tenn had to play UTEP, while we played at Michigan!

I guess the question for pawl and others would be would you think we were better if we had beaten Georgia but lost to vandy and arky?  Because that would put us on par with miss and Tenn.  but with an ooc slate with a pulse, and no November cupcake to relax against.

No reason to sugar coat it, we got our ass kicked.

But Kanell is an imbecile (or troll) per usual. Last I checked, Indiana has a strength of schedule in the triple digits, compared to 50s for Texas. Texas has 5 FPI Top 50 wins compared to Indiana’s 2 (3 to 0 if you look at Top 40).  Indiana barely beat a Michigan team at home that Texas dominated on the road.

I've seen Texas get an asskicking much more than id like to admit, but that Georgia game was tale of two halves. it was an 8 pt game most of second halve. I thought we were gonna fuck around and win for a bit.

but if your a longhorn fanatical and watched the whole game and came away that we got our ass kicked than I can only imagine what non Texas fans think.

I was at the game the dawgs whooped our ass. We have to win every game going forward. We don't have the benefit of the doubt the way we have played lately. Win baby win.

he's a fucking idiot/troll.  It isn't like we scored a late TD to make it a 15 point game.  It was 23-15 until about 10 min left in the game.  we were actually driving back down after the TD and then quinn fumbled..  We drove back down again and turned it over on downs in Ga territory.

Georgia made 2 fucking plays the entire 2H.

I wasn't physically at the game so maybe the asskicking wasn't properly communicated on TV.

Anyway getting into the playoffs after losing to one of two shitty teams like Kentucky and A&M should be too shameful to contemplate anyway.

Because they are terrible and we should win convincingly.

But seriously, a playoff team should be able to handle its business. I don't want to see Texas back into anything like we are Sooners or something.

Well, and I can only speak for me, I couldn't care less if we back in because that means we have a shot at winning the national championship.

Well hopefully we won't be in that position anyway.

I just don't see a team who can't beat A&M and Kentucky winning the national championship. But I guess anybody can get hot at the right time.

Well I guess if you want to say their defense beat down our offense that would be accurate.

I haven't seen anyone claim we CAN'T beat a&m. Of course we can.

WILL we? I certainly think so. The oddsmakers think so. Most here think so. Doesn't mean an upset won't happen.

But, even if we don't, we are still certainly CAPABLE of winning the title. I think we are on a short list of teams with a decent chance to do so.

Guys Texas shit its pants on big time national prime time TV. Stop trying to act like that was even close to a respectable loss. The defense looked salty and the offense looked like a fucking liability.

There isn't a single elite team in college football this year. It's wide open.
