Yeah, that one's fake af. I think that 95% of "I voted for Trump but...." posts are fake. I don't think any trump voter is second guessing anything, they got the culture war they wanted, and they are more than happy to bask in lib tears as they go broke.

I hate that this is true.

I got a 56 on the quiz. I liked how half of it amounted to "Have you ever done any cool shit?" and then the other half was "How often do you watch the worst shows ever made?" and "How often do you eat at terrible restaurants?"

Well, it makes sense when you think about it. But the conclusions about “bubbles” are reversed.

I'm not sure if they are reversed so much as that it doesn't acknowledge that there are bubbles on both ends of that spectrum. Maybe there is some point to be made that people on the low score end are in a bubble by choice and people on the high end are just there.

Noodling alligator gar ya say?

I don't think anyone noodles for gar.

But it has always been a wonder to me that catfish noodlers don't encounter such things (I think gar are pretty skittish and likely to haul ass if a person is anywhere in the vicinity) as snapping turtles.

Well, goddammit, would ya look at that....Brisket agrees with Milo.

I took that just for shits and this is what I got:

Scoring

You got 59 points.

The higher your score, the thinner your bubble. The lower, the more insulated you might be from mainstream American culture.

See below for scores Charles Murray would expect you to get based on the following descriptions.

48–99: A lifelong resident of a working-class neighborhood with average television and movie going habits. Typical: 77.

42–100: A first-generation middle-class person with working-class parents and average television and movie going habits. Typical: 66.

11–80: A first-generation upper-middle-class person with middle-class parents. Typical: 33.

39 for me.

Who didn’t see this coming?

President Donald Trump is seeking a $230 million payout from the Department of Justice as compensation for the multiple federal investigations into him, The New York Times reported on Tuesday, citing several people familiar with the matter.

And Trump’s own appointees and allies are the ones who will have the power to green-light the potential nine-figure payout.

“The situation has no parallel in American history,” wrote the Times’ Devlin Barrett and Tyler Pager, “as Mr. Trump, a presidential candidate, was pursued by federal law enforcement and eventually won the election, taking over the very government that must now review his claims. It is also the starkest example yet of potential ethical conflicts created by installing the president’s former lawyers atop the Justice Department.”

Heard one expert say today that because this is an administrative matter and not a judicial one, Trump’s request could be granted without us ever knowing about it. He is a grifter par excellence.

One “dark spot”?  Depends on which sequence he is talking about but “dark, black as sin”  on all sequences indicates heavily calcified and probably benign like meningioma.  Milo, being a shitty human, is probably gonna live a long long life.

As explained above, it's not too different really than say an EEOC complaint.  If you want to sue for discrimination, you must file with the EEOC first and can't sue until you do.

In 99/100 FTCA claims for more than nominal damages, the claim is denied at the administrative level, forcing suit.

Gar have different behavior. They tend to float along at the surface or hang out around or near deeper water or under vegetation.  They don’t like to hide under logs and riverbank burrows like catfish. I don’t think there’s ever been a case of a gar biting a human that wasn’t trying to handle it somehow.

I’m surprised he only asked for $230 million. He didn’t even try . Had he known it would be this easy, he’d have argued a billion and a half and maybe had it knocked down. That would cover the coverups, rape cases and libel fees, and give him enough to kick money over to FOX for their election fraud case. Who am I kidding, he’d have pocketed everything and told FOX to sue and he’d make sure they won.

Because these were filed during the Biden administration, I'm relatively certain they were performative-only, and would not have resulted in the filing of suit, just a lot of bitching that they were politically denied by the WeAPoNiZeD Biden DOJ.  They were super-doomed when filed, because litigation on all of these questions had not concluded at the time they were filed, although now it has due to Trump's election and the DOJ non-prosecution policy, which should doom them anyway.

But the Biden DOJ fucked up by not denying them and let them linger into Trump's administration, where they stand a decent chance of being granted.

There is a notion that your tort claim filing limits what you can ask for in court.  For sure, you can't ask for more than your tort claim, but it might work the other way too, that you can't back off an outrageous demand the same way you can in court.

Correct. I went and looked at the twitter of the person JimmyJazz posted above. They're still tweeting and retweeting complete garbage. Just some of the dumbest stuff. I did it earlier with another "oh the prices" tweets I saw on the Leopards reddit thread. The woman in that one was literally tweeting so much I couldn't go and find her original grocery prices tweet from this summer, because her brain-dead ass was tweeting 20-30 times a day or more. And it wasn't about grocery prices, it was AI videos of AOC having a plane drop shit on her.

This experiment is over.

I'm not saying there aren't still many, many excellent colleges here in America. What I will say, is that I think you underestimate that there are also hundreds upon hundreds of colleges who give out degrees for being able to Velcro your tennis shoes, or slip on flip flops if that's too complicated.

Yeah. Trump destroying people's lives getting them to see the light just...isn't going to happen. It didn't happen the last time and it wont happen this time. This is all cope.

The polls have barely moved for months. Nothing matters.

The GOP will get away with everything so long as 45% or so of the country goes along with it. And I am not sure what exactly Trump would have to do at this point to get those people to turn on him.

That's not exactly true.  Trump's approval rating has steadily declined over the last six months.

Now you and I will agree that it hasn't gone down nearly as much as it should given the state of the economy and that 2/3rds of Americans say the country is on the "wrong track."  But given the stickiness of the cult we're dealing with, it's not nothing.

But regardless--we don't need them to see the light.  Who really gives a shit if they see the light.  I don't give a fuck about their redemption or personal salvation.  I just want them not to vote.  And every actual poll of actual races (and some that aren't actual races, but are indicative of voting behavior, like the generic congressional ballot) indicate that there is a lot of Trump approvers out there who probably aren't going to show up to vote in 2026.

Well I have been watching it from time to time: https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/approval/donald-trump/approval-rating

And since the shift in March and April his approval numbers have just kind of...stayed where they are.

Keep wondering when the next big shift will happen. But hey we are not even one year in.

And bare in mind these are just approval numbers. Just because people disapprove of Trump doesn't mean they won't vote for him. I disapprove of plenty of Dems but I would still vote for them if they were the Dem nominee.

Things are about to get a whole lot worse for his voters than they ever got during his first term. I think we will see some major response if SNAP benefits don't get paid next month.

as to the factory floor question, I said "yes", but only because I took an organized tour of the Harley Davidson factory in York, PA when I was back there on a project.  Maybe that should have been a "no"?

No we won't.  Because in the broken human brain, hate/contempt for others will always trump love of self and family.

We are lizard-brained assholes who really don't deserve to be the dominant species.

Wasn't there a follow up question on that one asking if you worked on the factory floor? I said yes because I worked at a fireworks warehouse for a summer.

Similar. I had a job as a lab analyst testing IV solutions, and occasionally that entailed going to the filling floor to test some oil free compressed air drops.  Doesn’t make me a factory worker.

I go to the fulfillment center floor regularly. I gotta make sure the WMS, automated picking, conveyor system, and parcel services and integrations haven’t crapped out in the last five minutes.

I scored a 37.
