“I keep seeing these memes where Indians are bragging about taking our tech jobs,” said Ely, 36. “So I said, ‘Oh yeah? Well I’m going to work with these guys that are going to arrest you, slam your face on the pavement and send you home.’”

And then, Ely will have that coveted tech job for which he is assuredly qualified to perform.

Wait, about the only Indian I see doing that is  . . . Vivek Ramasthwamy.

Posted this in DT. Republicans are militarizing immigration courts.

Quote

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has approved sending up to 600 military lawyers to the Justice Department to serve as temporary immigration judges, according to a memo reviewed by The Associated Press.

The military will begin sending groups of 150 attorneys — both military and civilians — to the Justice Department “as soon as practicable,” and the military services should have the first round of people identified by next week, according to the Aug. 27 memo.

The effort comes as the Trump administration more regularly turns to the military as it cracks down on illegal immigration through ramped-up arrests and deportations. Its growing role in the push includes troops patrolling the U.S.-Mexico border, National Guard members being sent into U.S. cities to support immigration enforcement efforts, housing people awaiting deportation on military bases and using military aircraft to carry out deportations.

JAG lawyers are not going to be much different from any other lawyers, so that aspect doesn't bother me much.

The complete lack of experience in immigration law is problematic, as is the fact that they're taking JAG lawyers away from their duty.

And, of course, it was stupid and political, DOGE like, to shitcan a bunch of immigration judges right when they're trying to do this.

At least they aren't making them pick up trash.

Yet.

They are in the military. Of course it is different. If for no other reason than perception.

If all ICE is doing is rounding up immigrants and sending them to concentration camps, then why do they need to be training for crowd control?

Duh...   For raiding quinceaneras.

-Send all the JAGs to work on immigration/non military stuff

-Send red state ICE and National Guards to blue cities/states to stir up shit

-dotard will continue to throw gasoline

-someone ignites a match

Pretty much no one left to hold anyone accountable when shit hits the fan

So much this.  Our national economy would collapse on itself without immigrant labor.

The whole thing with immigrants and their role in the economy is such a symptom of how gross and hypocritical our country is. We need these people, they are essential to the functioning of our country, yet we treat them like garbage and criminals. What a bunch of disgusting turds we are. But it has been that way for about a 100 years.

In other words, we treat immigrants like poor people.

Dude. Fixed your timeframe above. Since 1619. Slaves. And indentured servants. And different waves of dehumanized and abused immigrants. It’s who we are.

Had a convo with one of my brothers that I don't talk to much anymore. ICE came up. We disagree on a lot of it, but at least he would listen. The main point I tried to drive home is that the idea that immigrants are to blame for all of our problems is not new. This has been used time and time and time again because it always works. Just think about it from that perspective and it's a lot easier to see through all the bullshit for what it really is. No idea if it will make a difference, but hopefully it made him think.
