Regarding Baker to OG consternation, Baker has signed his deal, loves Texas and believes that Guard is his future when he heads to the NFL.

Can whomever talked shit about to me the other day when I suggest that guard was his future in the NFL please come back and kiss my white ass.

Gonna need a lot of help filling this out, but this is my attempt at a reset on Tuesday afternoon

  • RB - Need 1 or 2. Baugh and Brown from Louisville were thought to be top choices but ended up re-signing with their current teams. Lots of smoke regarding Raleek Brown from ASU, but he's more of a change-of-pace back. Not many names yet regarding a between-the-tackles type to compliment him.

  • WR - Need 1 or 2. Waiting on Cam Coleman (along with aggy and Tech). Tre Richardson from Vanderbilt might be a plan B?

  • TE - Got Masunas from Michigan State. Probably done here.

  • OL - Need 3. Most serious candidates seem like the Michigan duo. Passed on the Wyoming guy and no interest in the NDSU guy. Apparently we're talking to Patrick Kutas from Ole Miss.

  • DL - Need at least 1 NT-type. Got Geffrard from Arkansas. Also talking to Zion Williams from LSU. He's less ready to play than Geffrard and would be more of a developmental piece. Same for Simpson from Miami I think?

  • DE - Not a huge need, but they'd take a guy. Some smoke with Jayden Woods from Florida. Kenny Owozulu from UTSA visited.

  • LB - Need at least 1. Top candidate is Alliegro from Wisconsin.

  • CB - Not sure on need. Mascoe from Rutgers visited.

  • S - Not sure on need. Edwin Joseph from FSU visited. There was some talk of trying to bring Derek Williams back. Not a player for Koi Perich, apparently.

  • Specialists - Already got a K, P, and LS committed. Jeff Banks is hitting the beach.

I rewatched the Cheez-It Bowl last night and was not impressed with McCutcheon. Lockett had the nice TD but that's it. I don't think that Wingo + Mosley + a bunch of question marks is a championship-level WR room.

I’d rather have a championship OL first. Then have a running game that enables the play action pass to be truly effective. It’ll make things easier for the passing game

In my experience OL coaches prefer a smaller player because they have more personality.

Maybe, crazy thought here I know, thats because special teams is the least competitive and least expensive positions in the portal and obtaining those targets is pretty easy.

Hell the long snapper probably just wanted a reasonable housing allowance and an entrance to McCombs.

Why we ever thought an Irishman would make a good o-lineman is beyond me. What’s even more frustrating is that they seem to have only scouted 3 guys to fill 3 spots. That’s amazing to me.

We need 2 RBs no matter what. Don't both need to be top end guys but look at the RB room for next year as of now. Clark, Simon, Terry (who is still untested at RB and got a whopping one carry in the bowl after all his hype), Cooper and Jet. Cooper is NOT the kind of RB expected to contribute much as a freshman. Great upside longer term and he had a very good senior season but for whatever reason experts do not think he impacts 2026 /shrug. Jet is a project. Need to add two bodies to that.

At WR I wouldn't consider Tre Richardson a replacement for Coleman. I think we probably need to add a larger bodied WR and speed guy either way. If we spend big on Coleman I bet we go value for the speedier WR take. Likewise if we whiff on Coleman and get a more expensive speedy guy like Richardson I think we still would want to add a depth building larger WR to replace Livingstone. As is the only two guys on campus over six feet at WR are Wingo and Lockett.

Everything else looks about right.

I think everyone would feel better if we could

  1. get all our stars to announce portalling

  2. get Bobby and the crew to float heavy interest from our guys in Aggy, OU, Bama, LSU and say agent discussions are happening with said schools

  3. All exit portal and sign with us

  4. Claim 30 head to head wins

We can do player announcement videos and have Sark standing next to the fax machine.

LB number has to be two.

Our scholarship linebackers right now are Ty'Anthony Smith, Bo Barnes, Tyler Atkinson and Rocky Cummings.

I don't think that list is in order of need. If so, OL not being #1 is the real issue.

who would want an OU castoff on offense ? like probably they'd be better in a better system but its a big roll of the dice . Probably LSU bound since they are struggling to shore up their roster

I know. I'm saying the number of LBs we add in the portal has to be at least 2 and I could make an argument for 3.

The vast majority of those catches and yards were from the FCS level two years ago. He had 18 catches for 200 yards at his one season at Oklahoma. I assume this is who Jaggy McJaggerson is replacing.

I heard we got Coleman!

Not sure if it’s Gary or Dabney. Either way, I’m stoked.

Is a CB required? Don’t they have enough there, and pretty good?

I know he was hurt and didn’t play the first month of the season, but not sure if he was never actually healthy or if he just isn’t good enough for the step up in competition. His qb and offense certainly didn’t do him any favors.

Probably a worthwhile take for some Big12 team in case he comes back healthy and looks like he did two years ago.
