Is there any incentive for us to try in this thing? Regular season title locked, #1 overall seed locked, Dchloss would be a moron to play any regular starters in this tourney.

If we were to lose the first game and Vandy went on to win it, I could see the committee giving them the #1 overall seed to them over us. Maybe.

But I think we are locked in to the Top 3 regardless.

Max needs ABs.

The #1 seed is Texas, the #2 seed is LSU, and the #3 seed is Arkansas. Everything else is just noise.

Agree. But if Tenn is our opponent, let’s beat them just for fun

I expect Schloss will approach this just like he did the last 2 OU games. Regular starters and same pitching rotation,  but work in some other guys late in games. Maybe early changes for pitchers.

The #1 seed is not locked. Arkansas or LSU could win this tournament and take it from us. I am not sure how much that really matters. Does it really make that big of a difference if you are the #2 or #3 overall seed?

However, we still want to win the tournament just because it exists.

We have 1 to 3 games in a two weeks period. There is no reason to rest your team that long, people need to stay sharp.

I'll defer to anyone who knows better, but my gut says no.  We will host a regional, and the other 3 teams are probably close to set, given the committee's propensity to keep travel down.  Maybe it matters as to who we draw for a super?

Yes. It would mean we would get the #14 or #15 instead of the #16, presuming everything goes chalk.

But...still does that really matter? We would host the Super regardless. There is no big reason to worry about the tournament besides the vague desire to put another trophy in the trophy case. Which is good enough for me. I would hate to have another team have a SEC conference trophy when they all should be ours.

I hope we exclusively use pitchers who have never seen a start or a save and we get bumped the first game.  Doing well in the tournament makes Florida a two instead of a three seed. After our latest round of injuries and swapping players around, I’d rather spend four or five days on Infield practice (and all our starters and closers rested ) than hanging around Hoover.

Schloss came out this past weekend and said he doesn't believe in 'resting' his top guys.  I can see him approaching game 1 like a must win and then assess from there.

it's too much guessing to know but 1 avoids 2 and 3 I think, that could be moderately useful in Omaha. otherwise the supers match up is a wild card, depends on who the 16, 15, and 14 seeds are (as you mentioned). enough unknowns that I don't care enough to care. as long as we are top 4 national seed our walk to the supers and even omaha should be relatively easy (key word relatively) even with our depleted pitching staff.

only reason to rest guys is if they are fatigued or hurt, and those are much different than tired and needing a few days to recover.  I trust he's got a pulse on all of that.
