I want to watch it to reconnect with that time because it was so special and so much fun to experience. Then I balance that with the feeling that we are so far from that moment now and have no hope of even sniffing the NFC Championship.

It was a great run. I doubt I’ll watch it until the Spring if then. If it was one show yea I would wedge it in. But listening to Jerry tell the cameras how great he is for however many episodes doesn’t sound appealing at the end of August.

Nah, there is zero chance he's ever thought for even a second that he's made a single mistake. He thinks he's doing a great job. He's a textbook narcisist.

I think you’re wrong.  Jerry admits quite a few mistakes publicly.  He has often said he failed to give Romo the supporting cast he needed to win a ring. He has said Chan Gailey and Campo were mistakes. That several of his free agent signings and trades were ill advised.  Said firing Wade mid season was wrong and he hasn’t “fired” another coach since.  He simply failed to give them a new contract.  Jerry has his faults and some glaring but almost every player and coach loves working for him because he wants to win.  That’s because unfortunately he’s not demanding of them, doesn’t hold them accountable, coddles the shit out of them, and doesn’t like demanding coaches that want to work the team in Wichita Falls in 103 heat vs soft SoCal.

Admitting mistakes and actually doing something to correct your actions are totally different. It's like someone in a relationship who keeps saying they are sorry but keeps doing the same shit over and over. Jerry has been doing the same shit for 30 years now with the same exact results.

He doesn't want to win, at least not seriously. If he did, he'd hire a real GM. But he doesn't so he'd rather sink the ship as long as he's in control.

Players love playing for Jerry because there's zero accountability and the fact the Cowboys are a massive brand and that can parlay into endorsement deals.

How is that wild? Did Dallas folk learn nothing from the Mavs/Nico saga?  Criticize the GM, get kicked out.

Finally got around to watching first couple of episodes of the Netflix series.  The irony of the first 20 or so minutes of episode 1 where the Cowboys and Tom Landry were (accurately) portrayed as being washed on the field and the massive changes that Jerry himself sometimes narrates on that were needed to undo that was hilarious.

Hey you dipshit!  The Cowboys were at that point again…in fucking 2010.

Looks like the guy was being a complete asshole and deserved to get chucked.  I guarantee not a single person that showed there wanted to hear this guy whine and yell so he could get clicks on tiktok.

Lol such a drama queen. Him and Jerry are made for each other74d3a20d22c0a61694a9d3bd6e596a0d.jpg

A picture is worth a thousand words.....

Jaydon rolled his ankle again.  This is some worst case speculation...... Blue says he feels fine.  We'll see.

This would be big news if he makes the active roster.  It would mean they think he can probably come back in the first month.

Supposedly the yearly salary is below the TJ Watt amount. It's a higher guarantee but below what Watt is getting per year. But honestly, I wouldn't believe a single word coming out of that Arkansas hillbilly's mouth. The thing that pisses me off about the Netflix stuff is all it shows is how good things were and how far we are from ever having anything remotely like it with that dipshit family in charge.

Rumint is Jerry offered Micah 5 years 205M with 145M guaranteed.  He said no.  If that’s the case. Go fuck yourself parsons.

Four episodes in, and convinced this documentary will win an Emmy. Meticulously and expertly made, and fascinating.  I’m disgusted and awed by Jerry Jones at the same time.

The directing of this series is spectacular. It’s really good.

if what @Sgt Hulk said is correct then the yearly salaries are the same.  considering it’s two extra years and considerably more guaranteed then dave muffaletta needs to just go over the contract and get micah to sign it.

Series focuses on Buerlein starting instead of Aikman, but makes zero mention of Steve Walsh during Aikman's rookie year.  There were times when I wondered if Aikman was staying on the team/ would remain the starter, and he was the franchise guy. Jimmy did not like ole TRoy, LOL.  I did like it that it was discussed, at least by Aikman, that he wasn't "rah-rah" enough for Jimmy.  All I remember was TRoy getting the living shit kicked out of him those first 2 seasons.  That OL was bad!!!

They also said Landry flew fighter planes. He was a B-17 pilot.

It also feels like a Jerry Jones commercial as much as anything else.  The nuggets from everyone else keep it going, but enough with Mr Talky-talky, for crise-sake.

I’ve mentioned it before but I got to shoot a commercial w Tom Landry that celebrated his service as a B -17 pilot. Got to spend a couple of days w him and asked him all about his war and football years. It was one of the most interesting jobs I ever did. We flew in a B-17 and he got to sit in the cockpit and reminisce about how frightening the war experience was. Truly a special time. I got him to sign the storyboard and you can also see where his son signed off on it, approving the idea.

Gonna give it a look. Here's an IMDB User Review of the new Netflix Series (the only one so far):

"

I'm through Episode 5 so far, and this documentary has it all. It dives deep into the backstory of the Cowboys, with incredible real locker room footage and game highlights from back in the day. Even though you know the final scores, the buildup to each matchup keeps the tension and excitement alive. I love these kinds of documentaries!

This is a high-level sports documentary engaging, authentic, and really well put together. It feels very much in the style of Man in the Arena: Tom Brady, as well as the recent Receiver and Quarterback series. If you're a football fan (or just love great sports storytelling), this is an absolute must-watch.

Up to Episode seven right now.  A lot of it is known stuff especially if you read or watched the DFW media back in the day when it was happening in real time.  An aside as a sports  who used to love reading print back in day,  I don’t think people realize how good the sports media was back in that era and years before in the DFW area whether it was covering the Cowboys or the SMU scandals.

The one thing that did kind of surprise me was the team’s affection for Barry Switzer and conversely how bitter Jimmy Johnson was towards Barry winning that 3rd Super Bowl with “his” guys.

Curvin Richards was the RB cut for the fumbles in that game.
John Roper was the LB cut for sleeping in team meeting.

The Ditka line was awesome. ' both of em are lyin!'

The DMN was one of, if not the best sports sections in the country. Not just for Dallas sports, but particularly for that aspect. They were informed, limited their biases as best they could and in depth.

Sigh... it makes me sad how far sports journalism has sunk.

I remember the callers to the talk shows who would say that with our #1 pick (gifted in a miracle from Green Bay on the last day of the previous season) we should take Tony Manderich over Aikman - that what you really needed was a good line. Anyone who saw any Aikman highlights knew he was something special. I mean after all, we had (or could draft) Steve Walsh (or was it Beurlein) - who I actually thought was a pretty decent QB.

I also remember Aikman missing half a season over a shoulder injury, then coming back and in his first game scrambles for a head over heels spinning dive into the end zone, getting blasted by a couple of defenders. Everyone held their breath. What a gamer. Deserved everything he got.
