They absolutely don't like Texas, and at least for me the feeling is mutual. Nice to have an instant spark of dislike with someone in a new conference. Makes it more fun.

It's really strange for me because coming into the SEC I thought Georgia may be the only sane, rational and educated fanbase. It's almost embarrassing how wrong I was, but moreso for UGA people.

Rural Georgia is a special place.

Having one of those troglodytes bark at you is something special. It's like they caught rabies.

I would say Alabama is the most sane, rational, educated fan base in general. They're having a moment after the retirement of Saban and of course they're going to be full of themselves in different ways, but I do believe they're more rational about their team than Georgia fans are. And there's no inferiority complex whatsoever, while everyone in the SEC other than Bama has some of that going on, whether they admit it or not.

Ohio State fans are just plain delusional. I honestly believe that comes from never having any real downturns. When your delusions are validated every year, not only is it difficult to recognize them as such...but are they even delusions any more?

Anyway, we're well on our way to being most hated in this conference with a bullet. Just need to win at a high rate for a couple of years and it will be complete. We're practically there as it is.

I can tell you guys that the Georgia fans are not fans at all of Texas. I was reading a thread earlier on their 247 site it is glorious how much they hate Texas. A bunch of them are admitting to their board, sheepishly, it appears, that they're going to be rooting for Ohio State and against a fellow SEC team for the first time in their lives. Others are simply wishing for a meteor to strike the Horseshoe at about 12:05pm (their time) tomorrow.

Imagine how those imbeciles are going to behave when Texas starts beating them.

I assume they just go back to being familiars for Bama.

21 was really good for Texas under Sark. Babers is always talking about how effective it has been. He has probably under-used it historically based on the numbers. Last year it was D.O.A due to depth, but it is an interesting point that it could come back. Nibblet on the RB depth chart might be a hint you have a pt. There is not a LB in the country that can run with that guy. Clark has supposedly look great in the pass game. I not sure where Baxter is health-wise (70%, 80%, 90%0, but I am sure he can block and get some tough yards up the middle. That makes 21 dangerous pairing him with some guys that can do damage in space.

The problem with Niblett at RB is it signals he'll be in a route. He's not a blocker,  and unless he's improved a ton from the horrendous looking inside carries he had in the cupcake games last season,  he's not an inside runner at all.

I predict Baxter is the "suprise!" success player in this game that does way more than average fan on either side anticipates. My instinct tells me he is responsible for the majority of our explosive yardage.

Same thing happened on my flight to the 2005 Rose Bowl. How much they cheer on the way home is what matters.

Main concerns for the game:

When we hold them to 3 and out every possession they will probably only get to run like 30 plays.  Our guys will accumulate very little in the way of snaps and almost nobody will play on defense.  I guess that's what September is for.

Arch throwing for like 4 TD's and 300 yards and running for 50 more on the national stage is going to vault him into the pole position for the Heisman. If he wins that and we win a national championship it's pretty unlikely to me that he comes back for 2026. That's a fun schedule in 26 with Arch back, not so much without him.

IT is going to be all over the Sark back to the NFL talk.  That makes me sad to think about since we are pretty lousy at picking coaches.

When we win so convincingly it will make OSU look bad.  Aggy will talk about how overrated they are and how we haven't proven anything.  I suspect that refrain will last through the entire season.

I'm sure if I sat around and thought about it I could come up with other concerns from how this game will play out, but I'm pretty sanguine about feeling like we will come up with a way to face all these obastacles and grow.

I know Hag will be worried about rat poison after what I think is about to happen happens.

The real problem is that we beat OSU so badly that they drop out of the top 25 and then we have one less quality win in the books

Anyone else hear Bobby mention this morning that Eddrick Houston got injured again last week or earlier this week?  Surprised we are just now hearing about it.  He didn't say anything about the severity but implied that it could impact the game.

Breaking character on this for a second, but rationally, if Wingo, Moore and Endries are your top 3 targets, and the collection of playable RBs is your 4th target, how important is the 3rd WR going to be for this particular game plan?

Wait. We’re supposed to be playing characters?!

Seems like Ohio State Twitter is in the dark on this one, too.

Jesus Christ. Gibson was thrust into a role he wasn't ready for due to injuries. Giving up on him at this point is dumb as fuck. The kid needs more time to develop. Let's see what Scott can do with him. If he transfers, he transfers. But giving up on a kid who was a true frosh because we lost Baxter and Clark early and he struggled isn't exactly uncommon. Good lord.

I keep preaching it, and it will eventually become known, Georgia fans are the most insufferable of the SEC. Yes, yes I am including aggie and pig. The volume of their shittiness, particularly about Texas, is only going to continue to increase in volume.

You've all been warned.

Arkansas fans are too downtrodden to be truly insufferable. They're just filled with hate. And Aggies...well, I don't have to tell anyone on this board about Aggies. They're short bus special.

Tell me a fan base, not just college football and not just the US that is more willing to eat their own than the Texas. Russia, China, Brazil and Columbia. That's the global list as they will murder and disappear folks but behing that...maybe Raiders and Yankees. I think those are the only rivals.

Please don't mistake my personal feelings. The warning is in preparation purely for the unprepared and unware. It won't belong before the SEC has gone full Big XII on their hate for Texas. It's glorious, I embrace and look forward to it.

But it's coming!

Sweed's catch in the 05 game is the stuff of legend, and rightfully so.

A couple of other things are hardly ever even mentioned -

- Pittman had 130 yards / 1 TD receiving

- the other - the contribution that sticks in my mind - is that of Jamaal Charles, as a receiver.

Charles had 6 catches for 69 yards.

As a true freshman.  In his second game as a longhorn.  On the road, vs. Ohio State.  And in his secondary role (receiving).  Pretty remarkable.

In this game, I'm hoping Baxter/Wisner, as receiving threats, can play a big role.  Unless we fall significantly behind, I have a suspicion Sark will be conservative.  Minimize risks/TOs and take what you get safely and easily on offense, instead of putting your OL and young QB under pressure (and testing their best defensive player).  So I think they try to run it and use conservative throws, and in that scenario, Baxter and Wisner may get lots of looks as receivers.

AI predicts Ohio State's 2025 season

We asked ChatGPT to break down the upcoming Buckeye season.

Patrick MurphyPatrick Murphy15 hrs25

Ohio State's 2025 season is just days away. The last time the Buckeyes took the field, they defeated Notre Dame to be crowned the 2024 national championship in Atlanta.

While the Scarlet and Gray celebrated the program's ninth national title, attention quickly shifted to the new year. Ohio State saw most of its top players depart, with 14 of them being chosen in the 2025 NFL Draft.

That has made for a busy offseason for the Buckeyes. The Scarlet and Gray had to replace six starters on offense and eight on defense, along with other players who made an impact last season.

Despite all the changes this offseason, the expectations remain unchanged. Ohio State's goals are to beat Michigan in late November, win the Big Ten (two things the team hasn't achieved since at least 2020) and secure back-to-back national championships, something that hasn't occurred in the 135 seasons of playing football.

Ohio State won the national championship game in 2024, but the 2025 season is upon us! The first game week is here as the Buckeyes look for their first repeat national championship. The basketball season will be here before we know it. It's nearly time for Ohio State sports to resume. Stay on top of the latest Buckeye news by BECOMING A BUCKNUTS SUBSCRIBER today!

The Bucknuts staff shared their thoughts on this season in last week's Roundtable. However, we asked AI to make predictions for the Buckeyes' 2025 season.

Here is what ChatGPT predicts the Scarlet and Gray will achieve this fall.

WEEK 1 - OHIO STATE VS. TEXAS

Result: Texas 27, Ohio State 24

Arch Manning's first road start comes in a top-five showdown. In Julian Sayin's debut, the second-year quarterback flashes his talent, but Texas' front seven, including Anthony Hill Jr., Colin Simmons and others, squeezes just enough in passing downs, and the Horns steal it late with a long field goal. It feels like a College Football Playoff preview more than a verdict.

WEEK 2 - OHIO STATE VS. GRAMBLING

Result: Ohio State 52, Gambling 6

A get-right game for the Buckeyes. Expect a heavy dose of quick rhythm throws to build Julian Sayin's confidence and multiple running backs rotating in the game as the offensive line leans on an overmatched front. The Buckeye defense is dominant in a multi-sack, multi-turnover performance.

WEEK 3 - OHIO STATE VS. OHIO UNIVERSITY

Result: Ohio State 45, Ohio 10

The Buckeyes' defensive speed erases the run and forces third-and-longs all night under the lights at Ohio Stadium. Another efficient outing for Julian Sayi with explosive shots mixed in. Jeremiah Smith starts his Heisman Trophy campaign with multiple touchdown catches.

WEEK 4 - OHIO STATE AT WASHINGTON

Result: Ohio State 31, Washington 17

Despite a long trip and a loud venue, Ohio State's secondary, led by safety Caleb Downs, travels to the Pacific Northwest. The pass rush disrupts enough to keep Washington behind the chains; a patient ground game closes it as the Buckeyes lean on the James Peoples and CJ Donaldson.

WEEK 5 - OHIO STATE VS. MINNESOTA

Result: Ohio State 38, Minnesota 13

The Gophers try to shorten the game, but Ohio State's defensive front limits early-down efficiency and turnovers flip field position. The Buckeye offense plays a comfortable, though not explosive, game to get the win.

WEEK 6 - OHIO STATE AT ILLINOIS

Result: Ohio State 34, Illinois 16

Bret Bielema's offensive and defensive lines make this a muddy game for a half, then Ohio State's depth wins out. Explosive plays from Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate break the game open in the third quarter

WEEK 7 - OHIO STATE AT WISCONSIN

Result: Ohio State 24, Wisconsin 13

It's a classic Camp Randall grinder in mid-October. The Buckeyes' run defense forces the Badgers to chase the game. A couple of play-action chunk gains by Ohio State are the difference.

WEEK 8 - OHIO STATE VS. PENN STATE

Result: Ohio State 27, Penn State 20

A physical, borderline College Football Playoff-tier game again between the Big Ten foes. Quarterback Drew Allar is experienced, but Ohio State's back seven trims explosives and a late red-zone stop preserves the win for the Buckeyes to take control of the Big Ten race to Indianapolis.

WEEK 9 - OHIO STATE AT PURDUE

Result: Ohio State 41, Purdue 17

There's no West Lafayette weirdness this time when the Buckeyes come to town. Ohio State's tempo and balanced offense keep the Boilermakers on their heels. OSU's defensive line overwhelms Purdue's pass protection.

WEEK 10 - OHIO STATE VS. UCLA

Result: Ohio State 37, UCLA 13

UCLA's rebuilding roster struggles with Ohio State's speed and depth. Nico Iamaleava has another rough game at the Shoe. The Buckeyes jump ahead early and rotate players out.

WEEK 11 - OHIO STATE VS. RUTGERS

Result: Ohio State 48, Rutgers 9

It's a mismatch throughout. The early script produces two quick touchdowns for Ohio State and the defense feasts on obvious passing downs against the Scarlet Knights.

WEEK 12 - OHIO STATE AT MICHIGAN

Result: Ohio State 23, Michigan 20

Another fourth-quarter classic. Ohio State's defense forces a key takeaway, and a late, methodical drive sets up the winning kick by Jayden Fielding. The Buckeyes win The Game in Ann Arbor to close the regular season, getting revenge for the last four losses.

REGULAR SEASON RECAP

Record: The only blemish is the Week 1 thriller vs Texas. Otherwise, Ohio State has a steady ascent as Julian Sayi settles in at quarterback and the defense carries a championship profile.

BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - OHIO STATE VS. OREGON (INDIANAPOLIS)

Result: Ohio State 26, Oregon 21

Oregon's speed challenges the edges, but Ohio State wins situational downs (third down and red zone) and steals a possession with a special-teams play. The Buckeyes win their first Big Ten championship since 2020, securing a top-four seed and first-round bye in the 12-team College Football Playoff.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF QUARTERFINAL VS. MISSOURI

Result: Ohio State 34, Missouri 20

Missouri's wide receivers cause the Buckeye defense a problem, but Ohio State's corners plus Caleb Downs contain them enough. Julian Sayin hits explosive shots off play action, and the running backs control the tempo. The Buckeye defense forces two turnovers, and Ohio State pulls away in the fourth quarter.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF SEMIFINAL - OHIO STATE VS. GEORGIA

Result: Ohio State 27, Georgia 24

This is the war everyone expects with two elite defenses on the same field. Georgia's quarterback play steadies in spurts, but Ohio State wins on hidden yardage — punt returns and field position. Julian Sayin shows poise on a late two-minute drive, setting up a game-winning field goal and getting revenge for the 2023 College Football Playoff semifinal.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - OHIO STATE VS. TEXAS

Result: Ohio Stat 30, Texas 27

A rematch of the Week 1 thriller. Arch Manning gets his shots downfield, but Ohio State's adjustments in blitz looks force him into checkdowns. Julian Sayin's comfort and the wide receiver separation show how much the Buckeye offense has grown since August. A balanced attack plus red zone efficiency swings the rematch, and Ohio State takes home a second consecutive national championship for the first time.

I asked ChatGPT to simulate the Texas season and we won the game with a late TD pass to Johntay Cook. I stopped reading it there

The Longhorn Weekly coaches show that Craig Way hosts with Steve Sarkisian had Jamaal Charles and Duane Akina as guests, and the two of them told some fun stories about the 2005 game. It's worth a listen, IMO. And I don't usually say that about the coaches shows.

They talked about Charles' catches and runs, including the 8 yarder on 3rd down and 6 to convert a first on the winning drive. They also focused on his tackle of AJ Hawk on the interception VY threw. He missed the tackle the first time, popped up, hurdled over two defenders (Craig Way interjected to say that Charles had the best time in the hurdles his senior year in high school) and then decleated Hawk at the 18 yard line to save the touchdown.

Sarkisian used the conversation in part to talk about the fact Charles had 16 snaps in that game as a true freshman, but Charles made those snaps extremely impactful.

Akina talked about how Charles was the best safety he never got to coach. After Charles made the tackle Akina said over comms he needed him in the DB room. He didn't realize Mack Brown was on the head set at that moment but Brown immediately responded, "Not a chance."

Blue was Walter Payton compared to how Niblett looked in his carries last year. It was comical,  looked like he had his eyes closed. On one the line overpowered the cupcake so badly Niblett was able to pinball off his own blockers into the end zone
