Why must we track who is “honoring” an unrepentant cunt who also had a podcast?

My theory: Because he and Turning Point USA funded J6 and Trump told the world his death was a tragedy. Just like Ashli Babbitt. The NFL and others are simply bowing to the whims of the king.

Trump is only going to leave office in a coffin. He won’t abdicate

I'd like an accounting of all the teams that had a moment of silence for victims of mass shootings. The only one I can recount is the New Orleans Super Bowl week tragedy where there was a moment of silence before the Super Bowl.

Ashli was a TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOT!!! Yeah, she got caught up in a little treason but who hasnt? And yeah, she was pressing in on the VP who had no other way to retreat according to the SS but she was just expressing her GAWD GIVEN RIGHT as an AMERICAN PATRIOT to storm one of our storied institutions. Ashli was MURDERED! Yes, she didn't listen to federal law enforcement officers when given lawful commands but THEY KILLER HER.

The nfl has some sort of monopoly exception doesn’t it? And Trump already hates nfl ownership for not letting him buy in and be one of them.

Totally agree with your sentence!! And anyone, please, tell me I'm an idiot and conspiracy theorist but I think the distraction continued to be pushed by politicians and the media is doing such an effective job. We will be in the "what about" and "well, the other side is worse" phase while what WE ALL should be raging about is all of our finite natural resources being used and abused. For example, Corpus is going to be the first American city to face a no shit, actual water crisis. The Colorado can't handle the water needs along its banks. The Columbia is the same.

Next we have these tariffs in place to price farmers out of their land so they can be bought pennies on the dollar. But us consumers are the one really getting hammered. So on and so on.

I don't have my tinfoil hat on but the decisiveness is such a great distraction. Billionaires have gotten even more rich while the poor are getting hammered thanks to the Big Beautiful Bill. And they are in a position to continue to buy up most of America's resources and industries. But media owners are able to make us focus on what's not important. A good example is the cancel culture. To wit, when everyone wanted to boycott Bud Light. Anheuser-Busch owns the beers that everyone switched to. So go ahead and boycott whatever, whatever you choose instead is still owned by the same people.

I'm not saying there's some global or national conspiracy being run by billionaires but when they control the media and therefore the narrative, that paper editor or news director will generally do what their told. And this continues to distract us from private equity firms buying houses, HVAC companies, hospitals, farms, etc.

When these national divisions happen, I always ask myself "Who benefits".

Am I crazy? Sheesh

You're not the slightest bit crazy.

She was not so sure. At all. She was quite aware of, and anxious about, the risk that the message she was sharing would not be well received.
She agonized about it with me the last several nights, always ending up at “this may go terribly, but I can’t NOT say it.” And all I could tell her was “if that’s what you feel called to share, then I have your back no matter what.” Walking up to a pulpit to share a message that may result in you getting run out of the room is a pretty unnerving thing.
Who knows, there may have been some people who are upset and angered by it, and she’ll hear about it later.
But there were, thankfully, quite a few who found it meaningful and were supportive. It’s a good congregation.

Major respect to both your wife and you.

I think there are some excellent congregations from many branches of Christianity out there, and they tend to self-select. The Catholic church over near campus has very different homilies from its priest and very different programs than the others in town.

Although we almost always attend the churches closest to the house, my wife is deeply involved in a different one that does all the work with Hispanics in the community, so I'm careful about my actions. I would suspect local Hispanic congregants would respond differently to the homily we heard yesterday -- assuming that at least a few of them had a clear understanding of Kirk and had the opportunity to discuss it. But that's a big assumption, as a good majority of them are too busy working to keep trades, restaurants and farms running around here, whether they own the businesses or simply work a lot. They're aware of a small number of ICE incidents that have impacted the larger Hispanic community here, but generally, ICE has focused its attention on different parts of the country so far.

can anyone that is ACTUALLY morning CK's death please explain why. what was it about him that is so worth all this attention? because this sure looks like fascists covering for other fascists, and suppressing any dissent from those who see this as what it is. CK should not be your martyr and if he is, it 1000% undermines anything credible you can say from here.

I had an interesting situation this weekend where a cousin of mine made a long post on Facebook about how her dad (who recently passed, last month) "believed everything Charlie Kirk believed" and if you were criticizing Charlie Kirk or celebrating his death, you were doing the same for her dad.

I made the mistake of trying (in a reply to the post, not in a text or call like I should have) to gently impress upon her what Kirk actually believed, and that no, her dad definitely did not believe everything Charlie Kirk did. I was immediately dogpiled by her best friend and a bunch of other people on her timeline, who assumed I was criticizing Kirk and her dad for "being Christians", which I absolutely was not doing, so I ended up deleting the reply and calling her instead.

She, of course, profusely apologized for what her friend said to me and we had a long conversation after that. She had absolutely no clue about any of the heinous shit that Charlie Kirk had said over the years, and only vaguely knew of him as a publicly Christian "family man" that debated people sometimes. She is about as normie as you can possibly get so this was not a surprise to me at all. There are literally millions of people like her.

Exactly. My New England boss/team peppered me with cultural questions last week, "tell us about this charlie kirk guy and how everyone down there is freaking out" to paraphrase it. I have people in my life who were literally moved to tears and heartbroken by all this because they followed him so dearly. These were people I was close or semi-close and we'd never had a conversation about this guy previous to his death. Maybe it's a personal thing for them.

I do think, though, that to a lot of normies and Christians, as you have called them, the Christian Father lane is how they know his work and youtube shorts, and maybe some of the college campus stuff, but the really politicized stuff I think was not as well known. To the extent that it really matters though I don't know, because if you believe in the same vein as Charlie Kirk, it doesn't seem like he's stretching too far out of the normie comfort zone in recent years (e.g. sounds like he's walked back a lot of the MAGA and J6 stuff and was more on about how abortion is awful and homosexuality is a sin-- all pretty standard stuff for those Christians who don't believe a woman is a legitimate pastor and "love is love" is reductive, bad theology).

I'm been trying to form cohesive thoughts about it for a while, but I firmly believe we are witnessing the largest scale of narcissistic abuse in world history. As someone that had to deal with this for 10 years and was finally able to get out of it, all the signs are there.

People who still support Trumpism just really want to make the relationship work out. And you're doing whatever you can - excusing behavior, excusing actions, falling for the victimization - to survive. You are in a fog of complete mental fuckery. There are tens of millions of people who are being narcissistically abused on a daily basis by a spouse, family member, friend, co-worker, etc. They know something is off, but they can't recognize it.  They don't want to divorce themselves from this entity, and so it never ends. Constant manipulation.

IMO it's the most sinister and damaging form of abuse, as it's hard to detect and to pin down. When I was getting myself out of the situation, it was interesting to note that the vast majority of therapists who help with narcissistic abuse were victims of it themselves. You practically have to live it to understand it.

Now Charlie Kirk? He is absolutely a flying monkey. As our all of the other right-wing personalities and politicians that bend the knee to Trump. They are the ones that are validating this bullshit, and sending this country into a full blown national divorce.

Yeah, freedom of the press in this nation is over.

Only Fox and OAN will be left to tell the story of the race war that they created.

I only wish this post sounded more far-fetched.

Not just bussed people in, funded much of the entire Stop The Steal movement. On top of using his platform and influence to push the lie the election was stolen. He made such a difference, Trump owed him and knew it... Which is another reason they are trying to canonize the dude.

and a reminder for those not reading this whole thread----he invoked his 5th Amendment right and refused to testify before the Jan 6 committee.

Accurately posting Charlie Kirk's own words that he deliberately and unapologetically spoke in public and correctly attributing that quote to Charlie Kirk.

That's what people are getting fired for now.

He's a truly vile human being. The fact that he often gets held up as some kind of positive liberal talking head by anyone is completely insane.

I had forgotten about Charlie Kirk's finger pointing at the Austin fire chief and blaming him for some of the Kerr County flood deaths.  The SHORTEST line one can draw between Camp Mystic and the City of Austin is over 100 miles, but that doesn't matter, black guy responsible.

Happy to eat crow if I'm wrong but did Kirk ever comment on the fact that we learned that the Kerr County emergency response director was asleep and sick when people were dying from the flood in his county? Another fact is that the director is a white man.

Can you just imagine how Kirk would have treated this news if the director was a minority, female or even transgender?

The video in the post I was quoting was short, with very specific examples, but each long enough segments to make the context clear. You tell me, do believe that black women lack the brain power to be taken seriously unless they steal a white man's job? Is that not a reprehensible statement to you? What additional context do you think there is that makes it something other than a horrific example of racism and sexism? Do you think black people wander around in droves and murder white people? Is that something you think actual happens? Do you believe abortion is worse than the holocaust?  Again, what is the context that makes that anything but a horrific statement? Do you actually there is some scheme to replace white people with migrants? Do you actually think we should desire to have a whiter country? That being whiter is, in and of itself, a good? Because Charlie very clearly did and he states it in his own words. Do you think women should submit to men? Do you think that was an appropriate thing for him to tell Taylor Swift to do?

I'd love for you to come on and explain how each of these examples from Charlie's mouth in this short video is misleading, missing context, or valid non-terrible person arguments. Which ones can you justify?

Of course he didn't. I'd be willing to bet he didn't utter another word on the flooding tragedy. He just saw an article that mentioned some Austin firefighters were griping that they weren't allowed to rush down to Kerr County to assist with swift-boat rescues and that it was the fire chief's fault. Ooh, he's bleck, Charlie probably thought. This will make for good content for my show and he ran with it. In actuality, it was likely an opportunity seized upon by people trying to oust the fire chief for reasons and they thought they could use the tragedy for their own goals (much like Trump is milking this Kirk murder). Never waste a good crisis and all.

Here you go:

This is how Charlie Kirk should be remembered. And to your question, of course he wasn't going to say a word about any old white guys asleep at the wheel.

Not here to get in an argument of “what is worse” and at the current political moment, right-wing extremism is the pressing threat. But sane societies should completely reject edgelords who edgily try to recast authoritarian monsters and traffic in their aesthetic. Communism is one of the most nightmarish ideologies ever to happen to millions of real people no matter what variant you choose and these type of photos should be looked at similar to smirking in front of Mussolini or Pinochet exhibits.
