My wife and I were talking and if anything, this kind of thing we want to really get a full analysis and report on so we have the anti-blueprint of what NOT to let our collective kids/grandkids get into and get too deep into. I don't know about some of you, but after the first or second "level" of the internet, I get lost in the sauce (can I still say that? is it cool?) and so I know a lot of my peers have very little actual visibility into what the kids are doing online. Half because they don't care and/or are too busy and trusting and half because the kids are sneaky and online-clever.

Anyways, need the anti-blueprint.

Man, you and me both. AI and deep fakes are going to make it much, much worse. I've got about 8 more years until I won't be able to shield my oldest from the wide internet anymore, so let me know if you figure something out by then.

Too late, the Ags already printed up the civil war t-shirts and commemorative cups.  The revolution will proceed as planned, starting in College Station.

Get them heavily involved in productive endeavors they like.  Sports, music, automotive, hunting, fishing, painting, writing….anything but online all day.  Talk to them,  be the best example you can.

Then cross your fingers and hope for the best.  At the end of the day you can only control so much of another humans life.

Sir, I got my first colonoscopy last year, but I'm still 4.5 years away from needing the shingles jab.

Would you care to comment on your thoughts if this guy does end up being a Nick Fuentes acolyte? If it is right on right violence? I'm sure the answer is No.

I’ve said repeatedly it won’t matter what ends up being “proven” each side will pick their preferred data points and push that to infinity.  Nothing will change that.

To specifically answer your question its certainly possible he did this because he thought Kirk wasn’t right wing enough.

The spin on the two threads that, “no one uses the phrase leftist” so The Guardian fabricated that story is hilariously laughable.

Fuck apologies. How about just some fucking patience? Statistics prove that "perpetually deep online nihilistic young male with batshit grievances and conflicting political (or apolitical) views" was always the most likely outcome here. But people were fucking itching to lose their minds and would have, probably literally, taken to the streets had this lone loser fit a different description. And why exactly? As someone else eloquently said, a not insignificant portion of our country immediately began turning the shooter into the literal personification of their political enemies and have done nothing but ramp up their bloodlust since Wednesday. Seriously, I bet the amount of ammo and gear purchased yesterday was significant. Fucking scary man.

*Not referring to the "rightists" (who talks like that?) still posting here. While jumping the gun a few times and having questionable abilities to recognize AI and shit sourcing, they've been relatively even keel.

Again, Nancy Mace goes from BRING BACK THE DEATH PENALTY!!!!!!! to "We should pray for this poor broken soul"

Like we all know it means he is a white man who leans to your side and is a loser incel who needed to get offline and get laid

If every person started with, we are Americans and need to look objectively at our common issues,  things could change. Instead, we have a few billionaires controlling the daily narrative. Combined with domestic/foreign bad actors on everyone's algorithms, we have to fight against. The key to all this is a side.

My only social is surly. I am 100% sure I have been pushed subconsciously to a belief. I just believe whatever leads you to absolutely hate someone to the point of wanting to kill them, you need to step back and question wtf the point it in all this.

I have friends that call me a liberal and a different group that call me a conservative. The idea of having rigid beliefs defined by others is absurd to me. I believe in what I believe in. Above all, I believe in life and the pursuit of happiness. No matter how normal/insane I view your views as being.

The phrase leftist is almost exclusively deployed by Trump aficionados to people like me, who voted mostly GOP for 30+ years.

When it was more meaningful, it was applied to actual leftists, like Sandinistas.

You're 100% correct on this.

Human reason evolved to justify and tighten bonds within the tribe. Everyone believes that they look at the evidence and draw logical conclusions from it, in that order; in reality, we first decide what we believe (because our tribe believes it) and THEN look exclusively for the evidence that supports it. And since everyone does this, it's very easy to see the other side doing it, and use that as proof that they are dipshits.

Every major belief you've changed, you can identify the friend or family member whose relationship you wanted to preserve behind that change.

Robinson's father recognized his son from the photographs and confronted him

Tyler Robinson's father saw the photos released by authorities and confronted his son about them, two federal law enforcement sources told CBS News.

Robinson admitted to his father that he was the person in the photos, those sources said. Robinson's father urged him to turn himself in, but Robinson said he would rather commit suicide than turn himself in, the federal law enforcement sources said.

Robinson's father called a youth pastor who knows Tyler and is close to the family, and he and the pastor tried to calm Robinson down. The sources said the pastor, who also serves as a court security officer, called the U.S. Marshals. The Marshals detained Robinson and kept him secure, while waiting for the FBI. The FBI then took Robinson into custody.

What he's saying here isn't both-sides-ism. The only side @Incredulity and I agree on is the side we're on in DKR Memorial stadium (or the Cotton Bowl).

He is describing how your brain functions. And his. And mine.

Pointing out fallacies in his logic, while ignoring the ones in your own, just proves him, and me, right.

You're not yelling "both sides" because what he's saying is actually both-sides-ism. You're doing it to build bonds with the people you identify with.

I kind of thought that was shitty too, on first read

But they do have a moral/ethical (and sometimes legal) obligation to call the police involving threats of harm and crimes.  And he called someone he trusted to keep the kid safe until the FBI arrived.

Nick Fuentes releasing a video to his followers saying “this is t what I’m about” seems telling. I’d bet a hundred bucks Fuentes knows this kid inside of his followers. His discord handles and other things from their haunts probably made their back to Fuentes. This is my worthless speculation.

Morons don't represent either side

Gonna have to disagree with your police work here, Lou, although I get the gist of what you're trying to say.

Right here on this thread, there is verbatim evidence of at least three elected representatives of one side, Trump, Mace, and Higgins, being morons (to the extent they aren't actual morons).

Edit to add, on this board because the evidence is in the other thread.

Yep.  DOTUS just excused, justified, and approved of right wing violence motivated by hatred for "immigrants and crime" - on live TV.  Said, literally, "it's not a problem," because those are good motives.  But that approach by the actual president of the united states...well, it's no problem at all.

And - good. He should face trial and accept the consequences.

Maybe because they ain't afraid to hit up the gloryhole.  Go get your rocks off and you won't commit murder.

Or murder by cop. Even if his dad is a cop I would trust the Marshalls over just about any other agency not to unalive him during arrest or transport

Over the father having to turn him in as an agonizing parental decision

or over the father having to turn him in as an indictment the FBI couldn’t find a dude who just “went home”

I don't care where on the political spectrum you sit, you have to have your head in the sand to watch that and not realize how fucked we are and what justifications will be made for what's coming.

Dude....nobody in MAGA land has any problem with that.  As in, they have 0.0% problem with it, because they agree with it.  Here is the transcript, posted again for all of those posters who were super-duper mega-maximum concerned about how inflammatory political rhetoric is really, really bad (a conclusion they just arrived at on September 10th, by the way):

When asked about radicals on the right and radicals on the left, and asked “how do we fix this country?”, this was the response of the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: “I couldn’t care less.  The radicals on the right oftentimes are radical because they don’t want to see crime.  They don’t want to see crime.  Worried about the border.  They’re saying ‘we don’t want these people coming in, we don’t want you burning our shopping centers, we don’t want you shooting our people in the middle of the street.’  The radicals on the left are the problem.”

Translation: radical violence on the right is okay, because they are just worried about crime and the border and such.  The following is a list of SOME of such "radicals on the right" who were "worried about the border" and "don't want to see crime," and took action in furtherance of those goals (and again, we're not guessing -- they literally said that's why they did what they did, verbally and in writing):

El Paso shooter: murdered 22 hispanic people.

Buffalo shooter: murdered 9 black people.

Tree of Life shooter: murdered 11 jewish people.

In case you missed it, not only did the President say those are not a problem, he said they are okay, because he agrees with their motives.

Political violence is okay, and the President "couldn't care less" about it, so long as it is in furtherance of causes he agrees with.

Defend this, MAGAs.  Defend this, all of you who over the past 48 hours were super-duper pissed about politically inflammatory rhetoric causing (you thought) a single death.  I mean, since you now see that such rhetoric caused at least 42 deaths, AND you see that the President is fine with that rhetoric (which you yourself said is a bad thing), DEFEND IT.

What's he got to worry about? He's a good bud of the president. Prez will deflect until we find some other thing to be mad about.
