David Duke, neo-Nazi and former grand dragon of the KKK

That was the top two candidates in their entire state that year!

It did spawn one of the greatest bumper stickers in Louisiana political history - “ VOTE FOR THE CROOK - IT’S IMPORTANT!”

Kelly’s buyout is $54 mil.  2nd highest ever.  The AD at Aggy that gave Jimbo that contract got hired at lsu to give Kelly that contract.  You think he might end up gator food in a bayou?

Woodward doesn't have the authority to offer these deals without the approval of the LSU and aggy administration. It's a collective fuck-up, but it sure makes him look stupid. Kelly was the worst hire of the two, IMO. Terrible cultural fit.

Maybe he'll hire Jimbo for LSU?

So here’s the current list if you’re losing track, and we ain’t done.  More firings, and vacancies caused by hirings.

Arkansas

Florida

LSU

Penn State

Stanford

UCLA

Virginia Tech

Arkansas should get ahead of the game and just hire Petrino on a 3 year deal.  He knows who to shitcan or keep.  Otherwise they will be eating scraps, especially if ole miss loses Kiffin

I think we are going to more retreads than ever this year and also a G5 pillaging, not enough proven coaches to go around.

Our message board geniuses hope we're one of the schools needing a coach.

Sark isn't going anywhere this offseason.

But 6/2 OU coach might be the next "big" name to fall, after they end up 7 and 10 on the season.

so someone will hire the Vanderbilt coach (if he was smart he would leave there just to get the "reset" at a new place)......so one of the retreads could be franklin back to Vanderbilt

Arkansas keeping Petrino would be another retread

I would think that someone will make an offer to Dan Lanning to try and get him back to the area he historically has coached in (The South) and that could be Florida

I would not be surprised to see someone make an offer to Lincoln Riley as well especially if he ends up at 9-3 plus some bowl game he would not be around for.....it also gives him a "reset" and gets him out of the Big 10 which looks to be turning into "Ohio State" and the random team this year that had a really shitty schedule and won the games on it (which puts the USC expectations even higher to be one of those shitty teams every other year)......I could see Missery offering him if Dinkwitz gets poached by someone and I can see Lincoln taking that because it is a lot less pressure and a fresh 5 year contract to be way over paid and a season with 10 or more wins gets him an extension and a raise

OU could even be the one to offer Dinkwitz

Agree that someone will take a run at Lincoln. SDS even mentioned him for Florida.

I think Lanning has a great setup. He’s got all the pieces for an NC. And I think that working for one mega-donor like Knight, is better than fending off the loony SEC donor pool. Knight’s investments in Oregon make sense— he’d love to win an NC but he really wants Oregon football to be a cool brand ambassador for Nike.

The schools opening in the South, especially if Auburn enters the chat, are pressure cookers where almost no one will meet the demands.

LSU alums have some interesting priorities in giving.

There's always money in the Children's Hospital.

Kirk Ferentz laughs at the insanity of this shit. He has this shit figured out. Don't coach at a place with lofty expectations. Don't EVER win anything to raise the bar of what's expected of you. Win just enough to keep your fanbase hopeful, but not too hopeful.

You can also say that Iowa has this shit figured out. They know they are Iowa in a conference of OSU, PSU, Michigan and found a coach who will deliver plus 7 win seasons like clockwork with a few 10+ wins sprinkled in.  That’s really about best case. A lot probably has to do with Iowa sensibleness and having other things in life beyond college football.

Cig at IU is going to break middling P4 programs brains.

I dig what Cig is doing at IU. But Cig, DeBoer are the exceptions. For every Sig, there's probably 20 or more forgetful names who sucked.

Franklin won't go back to Vandy cause he left during a player scandal.  May have covered up a Baylor-esque, gang rape that in 2013.

Correct.

Makes you wonder how he got a high profile job during that mess, what institution would hire a coach who turns a blind eye to grievous sexual misconduct?

Oh.

Real talk, Iowa is a well-managed, affordable, safe, and relatively prosperous state unlike most of the SEC and that leads to people caring less about college football.

We were paying Kelly $6.5.  Rumor is the regents just approved an $8 mil salary for the next guy.

I'll actually give the state of Arkansas credit here.  The whales they do have are as big as anyone else's but they've built hospitals, museums, and universities instead of some stupid fucking football coach buyout.

They could end up 6-7 if they lose all remaining games and a toilet bowl.

I heard on Andy Staples’ show that Mark Stoops has a buyout of $37 million payable within 30 days of termination. I could not fathom being a Kentucky football fan (assuming they exist) and knowing I was locked into long term purgatory with that dude as my coach.

Kiffin is gonna crush it at LSU or Florida. The dude has a stud offense everywhere he goes with whoever he plugs in at QB.

Get him some top-tier talent on defense and watch out

Posted (edited)

He'd be a better fit at LSU than Florida.  They won't care about his coed proclivities and Louisiana produces so much defensive talent that grew up rooting for the Tigers that he might actually have a good defense to go with his offenses.

I'm afraid of this. LSU will definitely outbid Florida if it comes to that.

I understand that Lane is back with Layla, which could be advantage Florida.
