Sherrone Moore's Michigan Meltdown - Staffers, Breakups, Extortion, Cover-Ups, Firings, Knives, Assaults, Breakdowns, Arrests

100% this. The two most racist things I've ever witnessed in my career both happened in Europe with European companies.

Moore, a man who had a $30 million contract handed to him to coach one of the premier programs in the country, is a victim of racism. Glad we got that straightened out.

Lots of racism in Asia, Africa and South America.  It’s not a uniquely American thing.

If Moore had beaten OSU again, he would still be the head coach at Michigan and all this "evidence" would have been disappeared. You can't trust anything this current administration is going to let see the light of day because they tried to cover up the biggest cheating scandal in college football history.

Yep.  And if urban has won in Jacksonville he’d still be there too

In case anyone doubted when I said the morons who think she had equal power are the guys who can't get any.

To quote a comedian, women have half the money and all the pussy. It won’t be long until they have all the money too.

I think she likely fucked her way inside out to the top office starting with players and ending with the Head coach.

This happens a lot too. Women will set out with this goal in mind. Can’t believe some people are shocked by that. I also can’t believe men are dumb enough to keep falling for it.

It takes a stretch of the imagination to believe that a two year relationship went on without some level of mutual consent but HR policies are written the way they are for a reason.

Let’s posit that she actually did pursue him aggressively. Moore has all the room in the world to just throw the brake with no fear of retaliation. “I need to be clear: I am not interested in an extramarital relationship with you and I will expect future interactions to be strictly professional. If that won’t be possible, we can discuss this with HR.”  It was always within Moore’s list of options to do that.

On the flip side, it’s not reasonable to expect that a vastly junior and younger employee can make the same statement without reasonable fear of retaliation from the most powerful and important man on the UM campus. And that’s why HR codes are written as they are.

The most likely scenario is some mutual consent on both sides, but that an affair that seemed exciting and flattering at first became claustrophobic, sordid, and overwhelming as it dragged on and as it seems Moore became increasingly clingy. She wanted out, he got scared of what she had on him, and eventually telling the truth became less painful than status quo for her. Many such cases, but the flat spin he went into was a result of his own pilot error.

Some of you need to replace the female in this developing scandal and potential cover up, with the boys in the Sandusky scandal and cover up. If you can’t see the issue here and you want to blame the victims, shame on you.

There are other females that are not subordinate, students or otherwise affiliated with UM who Moore could have slept with and would not be an issue professionally.

To make clear, Moore is the one who killed his own golden goose, no one else!

I wouldn’t even describe Paige as the victim.  It was a consensual relationship and she had enough.  She told him to go away. He got clingy like a beta.   When she ended it, he goes to her apartment rather than be with his wife and three daughters.  Beta pos, but according to the bigots on this board Moore is a victim of racism.

Consensual or not, Moore is the asshole here, no need to read into it any more than that.

He is the one responsible for reporting, he broke the institution’s policy, he could have said no at anytime, he had all the influence and power here. Just like Sandusky.

Go sleep with other adults that can give true consent, equal peers who have true authentic agency.

If this was a story about the babysitter, it’s only interesting as he possibly broke his marriage vows (if they didn’t have an understanding). He would still be corch at UM.

Jesus.....did you really compare a woman in her 30s, with a wealthy and influential father, who chose to be in this relationship, to elementary school age boys getting raped against their will in the shower?

Holy fucking shit Batman!!! Yes, yes I did! This conversation about victims up thread was asinine! The what about ism is pure shit.

Was it extreme, sure, but it is closer to the truth than the bullshit upthread. “Well, she has a pussy”, pure unadulterated bullshit.

It doesn't do any good for our society to an infantilize adult women making adult choices.

Well, in one sense, having it "man to man" is less humiliating than giving them "the box" and having them escorted off the premises.

On the other, it seems pretty unorthodox.

I think it’s likely that Manuel thought he could have a 1-1 with Moore and make it less confrontational, talk sense into him,  and maybe work out a graceful exit, or as graceful as possible. A mistake that may have cost him his job.

Yeah, I'm not saying UM wasn't looking the other way, seems like they probably were.  But even if they weren't, I haven't seen anything that would make it easy to terminate him until she fessed up.

The fact that no witnesses came forward maybe says something about the Department in and of itself.  I find it hard to believe there weren't witnesses that could corroborate and flesh out the suspicions.

Witnesses to what? As indiscreet as they may have been, I’m doubting they invited other staff members to watch them knocking boots. At most you have people who “misinterpreted a close working relationship, and we see how that might give the wrong impression, we will certainly be mindful going forward. It’s unavoidable that we’ve developed a friendship but we understand the need to avoid even appearances of impropriety.”

It is very hard to prove two people who don’t want to admit it are actually in the sheets with each other short of skullduggery that is off limits to 99.9 percent of employers.

It also, by the same token, does not do our society any good to infantilize a head corch about his decisions.

Sure, blame him for making a shitty call on 4th and 1. Make him a god for winning “The Game”! But don’t hold him accountable for the ability to say no, I should not sleep and shit in the same place?

Sorry, no can do, can’t go for that!

He could have just as easily, walked out of the stadium after any game, down the street to the local bar and picked up any other random. He would be just another piece of shit (if he doesn’t have an understanding with his wife) for getting strange, but he would still be the head corch of UM.

Just don’t fuck people subordinate to you!

Risk mitigation, the AD failed here as well and will probably be fired later, in a very official meet with BOR. A Legal, HR and a superior should have been in that conversation with Moore, had a $ package planned ahead, paperwork signed by all parties. All wrapped up by the tee time at the county club.

The shit show they have now, cost so much more!

You're responding to a tremendous moron who is accusing a woman of sleeping her way to the top with zero evidence. The grand summary of her accomplishments being her rise to the position of *checks notes* administrative assistant the exact same position she started in.

Rape happens a lot, too. That has exactly as much to do with this situation as the hypothetical you're engaging in right now.

More like sleeping her way to middle management.......which makes the take even dumber.

No matter how much money and status you have, if you show that you like a chick too much and get obsessive and weak, she will cut the pussy off. You’ll still hurt in the wallet someway or another.

I’m just going to point out a few things.

$55,000 is the starting point.

$90,000 is the ending point.

$110,000 is double of $55,000.

$35,000 is the difference between $90,000 and $55,000. (NOT $50K.)

63.63…% is the percent increase in salary from $55,000 to $90,000.

($35K / $55K = .6363636363… or 63.63…%.)

I didn't, don't and wouldn't. He is an idiot. He deserved to lose his job. He now deserves prison.

As for the affair, this woman had agency and deserves some of the responsibility. The elementary school aged boys raped in the shower by Sandusky (that you used as a comparison) had no agency in their ordeal.

Of all the Surly threads that have turned dumb, this one might be the winner.

If he thinks he was wrongly fired, he can sue for wrongful termination.  (Good luck with that.)

Ladder climber or no, his mistress appears to be of low moral standing.  Being with a man who is cheating on his wife.  No good.

It isn't racism.  Looking at corporate America, there are plenty of executives who have been fired for the same behavior.

Prominent Ohio State podcast says they should go after Kyle Wittingham.

Several, both things can be true. What about the high school junior / senior boys trying to win a spot on the team? Are you saying they are of low character, no agency and at fault for sleeping their way into the team? Of course not.

I agree, she is a piece of shit as well and should suffer the consequences related to lying and covering up the affair, as well as wearing the scarlet letter publicly.

I don’t know if Moore needs prison, but he definitely needs professional help. Dude was back out on the streets and trying to hook up with anything that moves!

Moore is the one that deserves the blame. It was all his responsibility professionally unless and until we hear about her forcibly rapping him repeatedly!
