  5. Watched the video and as much as I hate police shootings, this one is legit. The kid had a weapon, was being chased by police, and then threw the weapon down 2 seconds before he was shot. He was not "unarmed." Why is a 13 year old kid doing running around in the middle of the night with a gun?

  7. Mock my lineage all you want, fancy boy. You elitist, drinking with your pinky finger out in your nancy-pantsed, climate controlled structures. Go flush your toilet, soy boy! Alphas like me are getting lice and shitting in a dirt trench and dying from minor insect bites. You queer.

  8. This is a good point. Had he dropped the gun on the ground in view of the cop instead of trying to hide it, much less likely the cop pulls the trigger.

The hell are you talking about? Her: I don't know about all that. I think it's just eating meat only. Me: So, meat on a stick? Carnival?!! Are you fking with me??? Her: This is another one of those things isn't it?

  11. Roger Ebert offers an explanation years ago: The reporter looked disappointed, so I offered her my theory. “Events like this,” I said, “if they are influenced by anything, are influenced by news programs like your own. When an unbalanced kid walks into a school and starts shooting, it becomes a major media event. Cable news drops ordinary programming and goes around the clock with it. The story is assigned a logo and a theme song; these two kids were packaged as the Trench Coat Mafia. The message is clear to other disturbed kids around the country: If I shoot up my school, I can be famous. The TV will talk about nothing else but me. Experts will try to figure out what I was thinking. The kids and teachers at school will see they shouldn’t have messed with me. I’ll go out in a blaze of glory.” Unfortunately, our society celebrates shootings with more attention, coverage, and thought than any major sports championship. Shooters want attention and they get it. We click on articles, turn on TVs, text our friends about and....post it on message boards for discussion. Sadly, there are numerous types of negative events that the press and social media love, and we eat it immediately. Imagine if we had a world where more positivity and logic controlled the media and social media.

  12. The kid could have shot someone dead in the street, but the moment he did what the police asked him to do he should be arrested and jailed not executed in the street. The question isn’t what did the kid do to deserve being killed, any questions to be answered about the kid’s culpability should be reserved for the jury not an executioner before a trial. Your kid may not hang with gang bangers but that’s as much to do with the fact gang bangers are no where to be found around your kids as much as it has to do with your parenting. if your son was pulled over by the police and had a bag of weed or drank too much and was underage with expired registration and he was shot and killed you wouldn’t agree his culpability had nothing to do with the right to execute him. Why it’s any different for a child of color is beyond me. Fuck all of this and fuck white people who explain why this kid doesn’t have a right to a trial by jury when he does what the police ask of him when he’s confronted. That’s pure racism. It’s the fucking definition of racism. god dammit people.

  15. https://www.ishn.com/articles/112748-top-25-most-dangerous-jobs-in-the-united-states Police Officer ranks as #22, behind such jobs as garbage collector, delivery driver, and farmers. The statement that a cop puts his life on the line every day he shows up for work is just not true. It's not that dangerous of a job unless it's made into one by the police themselves. Failing to treat citizens with respect, failing to follow protocol, failing to hold their peers accountable, failing to not act aggressively in a tense situation. These are things that make a cop's job dangerous. Ask yourself the next time you see a vehicle pulled over why there are 3-4 or more patrol cars there. It's nothing more than an intimidation tactic and show of force. For someone who ran a stop sign. Don't want me to view you as an enemy to the people? Then stop acting like one.

  20. My 13yo dog kept trying to shove past me to go outside. We had to have a conversation: Me: ”Girl don’t go out there, it’s dangerous” Bindi: ”I must investigate this disturbance” M-”There’s fucking golf balls of ice falling from the sky...stop pushing me you big bitch” B-”I will defeat this enemy, move aside citizen” M-“No! Cant you hear all those crashes? Imagine that hitting your thick skull!” B-“My advanced age has rendered me deaf as a stone wall, but now I hear no evil and will engage the enemy with fearless energy and my four remaining teeth” M-“You’re fucking dumb” B-“I’ve seen you masturbate” M-“Ok fine, go out there” ...17 seconds later

  22. Current record: Skunks 3 / Major 0 Armadillo 0 / Major 0 Possum ½ / Major ½ Porcupine 1 / Major 0 *the Armadillo always makes it back to its hidey - hole under the deck which gets Major to running & pacing around the deck for a minimum of 15 minutes. No win, no loss, no damage to Major. The last pic is post veterinary checkout. We did the extraction of the quills ourselves minus one in his R / F paw that was too short & embedded for us to get out... 'twas betwixt the toes. Didn't need sedation, the vet said he was chill A.F. & took it like a man (even though he doesn't actually have balls anymore). Saved us ½ the expected / quoted cost. 25. The justice system didn’t kill him. He put himself in a precarious situation that resulted in that. We didn’t devalue his life. He did when he chose to pop off guns and evade cops in the dark of night. Why try so hard to pin this on everything and everyone except the very person behind it all. If you put yourself at risk by jumping out of airplanes for fun, you don’t “deserve” to die. But if you did, don’t be surprised.

  26. I'm as tough on Heroes as anyone on this site. That was a horrible tragedy, but this cop was put in an impossible position. Split second decision. Good shoot. Cops need to be held accountable, but so do people running around firing guns at 2am, their parents, and the cities who coddle this behavior. The process of this heartbreak began waaaaaaaaaaaay before that fatal shot was fired.

  30. You just did what I said. The moment he complies he has a right to be sure he won’t be killed. Full stop. There is nothing else to say and not a single fact in the universe of scenarios that would change this. It’s an unwavering principle of the rule of law. Hands up, comply with police orders, you get arrested not executed.

  31. Watch the video in post #17 in real time, it appears to be less than a second between his dropping the gun and the officer firing. It looks like he drops the gun on his right side, away from the officer and probably out of his view, and then turns while raising his hands. It's easy to see how in a literal split second heat of the moment the officer could have missed seeing the gun dropped, and logically assumed he was raising the pistol while he turned. Real people aren't as perfect as the Backseat Driving Bernards. More context, especially 1:17 and 1:42+:

  33. Huge caveat: We have a gun problem. Police need reform. Why does the kid have a gun? Why did the cop ask a kid with a gun to turn around and show me your hands and the shoot him when he does that? If he thought the kid had a gun, wouldn’t he expect the kid to turn around with it? So he was going to shoot anyway? So many questions. So much stupidity This is not cut and dry. He was responding to shots fired call. He sees a citizen with a gun. He chases said gun holder down the alley. The kid did have a gun. There is video evidence of the gun in his hand. The gun was a few feet away from the kid after he threw it. The officer didn’t see him throw it apparently. The whole situation is so fucked up

  34. I’d much rather hear a first year coach temper expectations, let his guys know they need to step it up and then, ultimately over perform rather than run his mouth about how good we look only to lose to Maryland while talking about winning being really really hard.

  35. That's a given, that's a given. On Monday, I tried to run the bases in an exemplary fashion for the team of 5 year olds that I babysit 3 times a week while being disguised as an assistant coach. By the time I got back to home plate, I simultaneously thought both hamstrings were about to snap and that I might be dealing with the early stages of a heart attack. I'm starting to get a tad nervous about my conditioning in prep for the Surly Livestock Show-Olympic Games-Farmers Market-and-Christopher Cross Concert that we're holding on September 4th.
