Scotch is a whiskey made in Scotland. Unless you are descended from well behaved malted barley, you are of Scottish descent.

The Scots love Americans who claim to be Scottish.  or so I'm reliably informed

The distilled beverage made in Scotland is whisky.

I suspect that this is probably a regional thing and/or just a coincidence (availability heuristic in action, perhaps?), but in my experience, in the Chicago area, this sticker seems to be found almost exclusively on vehicles driven by Asian people.

Nobody else seems to be buying this sticker.

People who take videos of the concert instead of just enjoying the music and the vibe.

We went to a Post Malone concert last night, and the women in front of us were taking videos of the screens and/or selfie videos.

Makes no sense to me.

i'll video like 30-60 seconds on my favs but only the first concert of the band I go to after that it's all enjoyment. even first time through I want to enjoy at least half the song I love live not through a camera. I'll also record but watch the band not my screen some times.  I've gone back many times to watch the videos, they're nice to have.

Too many to name! The Edgar haircut, having 7 kids with 6 baby daddies when you can't afford one, the main character syndrome that seems rampant nowadays, especially when driving, taking pic after pic of yourself 18 times a day, taking pics of your food, run on sentences *old man shaking fist at cloud*

Maybe it's because I have a larger company SUV (Traverse) and have more of a fuck you, get out of my way attitude. But I can't park straight in a spot worth a shit. I actually open my door to make sure if I'm parallel to the lines. Probably because I don't want to show up in the parking douche baggery thread.

When I was younger, I could talk with my phone on my shoulder, hold a burger and shift into 3rd at the same time. Those days are behind me.

I have actually played cricket recreationally on some of my visits to Australia.  The hardest part for me was to remember to take the bat with you after you hit the ball and took off running to the other end.   You can actually stretch out with the bat to get it across the line before your body does to be "safe".

I played when I lived in England. The hardest thing for me was batting: gripping the bat differently, no strike zone, protecting the wicket, weird spin off the bounce. I was great at fielding though.

In work travel lexicon, I've begun hearing people use the term "co-locate" in the place of the word "travel."
Eg: "Next week, we will be colocating to Chicago beginning Monday and ending on Thursday."

What in the everlovin fuck?  It serves no purpose, sounds almost kinky, and confuses the shit out of people.  Why do fuckers think they are clever?

It’s there because no one immediately made fun of whoever originally used it to the point of them having to quit their job and change professions, and perhaps their name.

I don't understand the utter lack of cross-sport athleticism from some top notch professional athletes.

This is the most accomplished UFC figher in history. He's 6'4", wrestled and played football in high school, and his 2 brothers are college all-conference and NFL all-pro players.

How does he look like he's never shot a basketball in his entire life? Growing up in New York with 2 brothers, he's never played the 2nd most sport in America?

There are people on bikes and some coyotes at the regional park. You’d think they want to hear what’s going on around them.

SIAP.

Able-bodied people that stand and ride moving sidewalks particularly at airports.

Listen, you are about to get on a flight or have just got off a flight where you had been sitting and getting no exercise. Is a little walk going to kill you?

I usually walk them, but there are times when I'm trying to make time go by (like flight leaves in 4hr and lounge is full of screaming kids) when I'll intentionally stand and just let the world go by slowly.

Posted (edited)

I stay to the right, with my bags tight to the right edge.

If you can get by, WGAF?

FWIW, I agree about moving around and getting the blood flowing before a flight.  I will stand, as opposed to sitting at the gate waiting area for this reason.  On the moving sidewalks, sometimes I walk, sometimes I don't.  Always try to be courteous to others trying to make that connection though.

I also walk, but my walking speed is quite a bit faster than most people's, so I can book it much faster than those moving sidewalks full of cattle gawking at the airport like they've never seen one before.

I will also walk to the furthest bathroom (unless it's a gotta go now situation) or coffee place in the terminal to waste time and keep the blood flowing before I have to sit.

I will also, barring a timing situation, walk for terminal changes than take above/underground trains. Airports are a sneaky good way to hit your steps for the day.

This is the decorum. You stay to the right and give a path for those who want to pass, not unlike driving slow/speed limit in the right lane and leaving the left lane(s) for those who need to be at a faster speed.

Yeah, I agree with all that in principle, but fuck all connections at PHX, and most of them at CLT.

CLT connections will test a man's mettle.

Many moons ago (I'll age myself here) before there was a direct flight from DFW to TRI, you had to connect in CLT. Invariably CLT will a) underestimate how much buffer is needed and b) land you at a gate on the otherside of the airport than your connecting departure gate.

There were multiple times I had to suck up my pride and look stupid running at a full gait with bags to make the last flight out for the night and being the last man on the American Eagle Bombardiers and hacking up a lung as doors shut.

One of the most underrated features when looking to move and live in a new city I think is people don't evaluate the airport situation. If you have to do a decent amount of business travel a first tier airport is worth it's weight in gold. Once you've lived in DFW, IAH, ORD, ATL, LGA/JFK/EWR, LAX, SFO, it's hard to move to a city with an airport that nearly always requires a connection to a hub first-- it makes travel an all day event and pretty inefficient. CLT punches above it's weight to be honest, for all the crap I give it.

When was the last time you flew in / out of LAX?  I would rather stab myself in the eye with South Austin’s mom’s dildo before driving through that airport loop.

Amarillo- my record for locking my truck in the parking garage and walking to the gate is 7 minutes, and I did not run.  We have 3 carriers in SWA, United, and AA.  I exclusively fly AA for work, so it's what I also use for personal, unless we can save a chunk of change- which happens from time to time.  All of my flights go to DFW first, and weather is really the only PITA, during tornado season and whatnot. When I land and get home, it is pretty much 5 minutes to my truck and 20 minutes to the house.  Yes the connections in DFW can be tricky during the Spring, but overall, we have an outstanding airport situation.  Denver and Houston are also in play with the other carriers.

I haven't been to CLT since I was 18, flying from San Diego to Jacksonville, NC. That was 1989.  Things are different now, I'm sure.

I agree that LAX sucks a thousand assholes.

I fly American, so sometimes I get to take the shortcut around, and other times I don't. Such a boom or bust way to start off your travel.

The bus-to-your-Uber situation is miserable.

Flying out of LAX tomorrow. Wife and I are flying SWA to Vegas, daughter is on AA to London. We’ve flown in and out of there before. It’s big and a bit of a pain, so we just allow time.

6 months ago. The airport sucks, but I’m specifically talking about flight and destination options.

You can take LAX -> Anywhere in a direct flight domestically.

Try taking OKC -> DTW and you’ll be going OKC south to DFW and then back north to Detroit for example. Or Jacksonville to Phoenix and you are going JAX -> MIA/MCO -> PHX

I tried to beat the system once and flew into SNA and rent a car to get to a meeting, and then got snarled in traffic trying to get south to Torrance and Palos Verdes and almost missed the meeting entirely

Especially with SeaTac under renovation, I try to fly out of Paine Field (north of the city, Alaska / Frontier exclusive).

Landed from Hawaii, and had only carried on my luggage. Wife was waiting out front in the pick up zone, and it was 20 minutes from the time the plane door opened until I was at my house (@11 miles away).
