I think it’s more likely that Pelosi is trying to get Trump to resign because the most expedient method. They also need time to draft the articles and do some hasty form of review before putting it in front of the house for vote. You know the president’s lawyers will be looking for any undotted i to challenge.

Unfortunately, they can impeach him all they want. He's still president until January 20th unless the Senate convicts. Don't hold your breath.

And then? I think we all agree that action must happen immediately but the reality is that firing Trump immediately is not as simple as Trump firing one of his executive branch appointees. I'm sure they're drafting those articles behind the scenes but I'm willing to give some small benefit of the doubt given the procedural and political hurdles they face when dealing with ppl like Joe Manchin.

It's going to happen.

I'm completely dumbfounded there isn't more of a sense of urgency here.  Pelosi is having conversations with Milley about ignoring orders from Trump (or God knows what else), but she is still asking Trump to resign/Pence to invoke the 25th - (maybe ask pretty please with a cherry on top!?) - or we'll bring articles of impeachment next week.  What in the actual F!?  There is no valid reason I can fathom for waiting any longer!  I mean sure, our democracy might hang in the balance here, but it's even politically smart as well by making the spinless GOP cucks in the Senate go on the record here.

McConnell will probably protect them from having to go on the record.

Dana Bash on CNN just now:  Pelosi has been assured by senior members of the pentagon that Trump will have no access to the nuclear codes for the remainder of his term.

I mean, thats great.  However it is just another fucking example of why the fat fuck needs to be put out on the street.

Is that even constitutional without the 25th or removal?  So now the military can withhold nuke codes from our elected commander in chief?  Thats a slippery slope. We have constitutional measures to limit his access. Its time to use them. Enough of the kid gloves shit and being afraid of his followers. His followers showed us who they are. Fuck em. Follow the rules and get him out the right way.

Pelosi is now openly talking about how concerned she is he might nuke us but has been considering taking the weekend and impeaching him next week.

This is it, this is what is going to drive me insane.

She needs to get the House to act now. As much as I think Twittler should be stripped of all decision making authority asap, going around him to the military to ensure he doesn't launch a strike is unacceptable.

If he can't be trusted with his powers you do everything in your legal authority to stop him.  You make the Senate go on record and make them vote. They'll be responsible for letting him start a war rather than simply removing him from his final 12 days in office. You do not try and circumvent the chain of command.

I call bullshit. There’s layers and layers between the President and when the nukes actually launch. The military can still refuse the order after Trump says to launch. It’s not “slam the red button and nukes go flying” like in the movies.

Senate ain't convicting.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/01/08/capitol-biden-trump-live-updates/

Quote

A key Democratic senator warned Friday against proceeding with impeachment of Trump during his final days in office, arguing that it could obstruct the incoming administration of Biden.

“Let’s be rational about this,” said Sen. Joe Manchin III (D-W.Va.), suggesting that there were not enough Republican senators willing to quickly remove Trump from office. “Why go through the exercise again if it’s going to be futile?”

But Manchin contradicts himself:

Quote

“We have to put our government together quickly. ... That’s the most important thing we should do,” he said. “We don’t need any more political theater.”

Manchin said he wants Trump to resign or be removed by Vice President Pence under the terms of the 25th amendment: “I am in favor of doing anything we can within the Constitution and within the law that could remove Donald Trump in the next 12 days. The quicker he’s removed, the safer we are as a nation, the safer we are internationally. I believe that with all my heart and soul.”

Trump only understands force and he's a coward. We get this. Anyone who watches A Christmas Story gets this. But, I suspect Nancy may not. Someone might need to take her aside and explain that her Cher moment has finally arrived and she is the one who can slap Trump in the face and yell, "Snap out of it!" and then escort him to the door.

I can get on board with your thoughts, but the propaganda train must not be allowed to leave the station.  FCC rules and regulations on foreign ownership, Fairness Doctrine, etc in order?

Um, I like you and enjoy your posts but maybe edit that last line as a preventative measure?

Thanks, just did.  Mind editing your quote?

More economically angst ridden people in the Trump riot:

A real estate broker from Frisco, Texas, flew on a private jet to Washington, DC, along with friends to “storm the Capitol” on Wednesday.

Jenna Ryan, who is also a radio host, flew from US Trinity Aviation in Denton, Texas, all they way to the nation’s Capitol — where she had “one of the best days of my life.”

“Hopping on a plane heading to DC #MarchToSaveAmerica #stopthesteal,” she wrote in the caption of a photo on the tarmac.

The Trump supporter was also tagged in multiple photos on Facebook, where she is seen holding her luggage with a big grin on her face.

“This is a prelude going to war,” exclaimed Ryan.

How do we lose Payne Stewart and keep these people?

So much this - it's a terrible precedent to set.  Have the stones to do what is necessary and possible under the constitution, which is impeachment.  If the GOP wants to FA&FO what happens if they don't take up the impeachment vote in the senate, then they can rely on Trump to do the right thing and not continue to take a pair of pliers and a blowtorch to their political futures.

Great, just great. Way to fucking legitimize all their deep state talk.

Jesus fucking christ we have the dumbest fucking leadership.

There is no need to ever worry about something that will embolden or reaffirm a belief of these idiots. They will take anything and twist it to fit their insane reality.

We need to worry about fucking governing and running a country, that's it.

You're not familiar with the court cases they filed, are you?

That’s the fucking B team. I’m familiar with the guys they used during impeachment. They will stand on the smallest of errors as evidence of the entire process being a sham. It would be great if they had to argue the merits of the case more than procedural bullshit. I believe the dems will bring impeachment to the house. After that the senate will run out the clock.

He's arguing that impeachment and such will distract from the peaceful transfer of power.

Maybe he is; but why say it's a waste of time and let's just get through the next 12 days, then come back and say "let's do it legally".  Last I checked, impeachment is legal.

Now, getting the Senate to convict is a whole different animal; I get that.  But at least force Mitch and his cohorts to vote not to convict, or force Mitch not to hold the vote at all.

This. The republicans alone caused this mess so they can fuck the right off.

No more listening to republicans and their snowflake bullshit concerns and calls for unity after they get caught.

Fuck them. Impeach his dirty fat ass and let the Republican senate dither about. If another 10,000 trump idiots want to invade the capitol again because dear leader gets impeached this time have the police use all necessary force to stop them.

Trump has created an American Al Qaeda terrorist movement.  And we are going to allow him to continue to lead it, fire it up, and incite terrorism.  It's insanity.

I’ll go out on a limb and assume the rioters/domestic terrorists/enemy combatants(?) have openly shared their views on interrogation tactics at, say, Abu Ghraib and Gitmo.  I hope the investigators are scouring their social media posts for implied consent.

I am beginning to think Hawley fucked himself.   He was going to get away with it until the attacks on the Capitol. With mega donors turning against him, and Republicans in Missouri trashing the shit out of him, I think his career has peaked.

I guess this might be where Cipplione (sp) may have to figure out how to decide where in history he wishes to stand. I agree the B team will not likely be in the batter's box. However, if someone puts that idea in Trump's head, who knows.

I'm torn here. Rushing gives credence to the appearance of Impeachment 2: the Hoax and I don't want that coming out of any of those 100 plus seditious asswipes mouths that are currently in Congress. However, if dipshits like McCarthy are going to double down on obstruction and put their chips all in, then get going people because on the 19th/20th if not before, these same people are FULLY PREPARED TO HAVE ANOTHER GO AT MAKING THIS COUP A SUCCESS.

They have told us who they are and we need to believe them. Stalling around lets them get their messaging in place.

- Congress was just physically attacked by a small band at the physical direction of the President.  People were murdered.

- Congress literally has the ability to declare war.

- Immediately impeaching is 100% justifiable act of self defense.

- Do not make excuses for Pelosi
